Updating the site
Posted 05 May 07
After a long, long absence -- a whole month! -- I've come back to my beloved website. It seems that Twilight Archives has thrived without me: a hundred new members and a whole lot more submissions.
I've updated this website with the newest version of eFiction, 3.2.1. I hope this makes it easier for everyone to use this site, including me. The reason why the front page has looked kind of odd is because the software wasn't allowing me to post any news OR edit the welcome message. The Submission Rules have also been deleted, for some reason. Hopefully, this will solve these problems.
Just a reminder -- if there are any rule-breaking stories out there, or ones that you think really, really shouldn't be on the site -- send me an email. I appreciate those kinds of things. Don't tell the author directly, okay?
I'd like to ask your opinions on something: Would you rather each story be individually validated or automatically accepted into the site? I really do value your input, guys, so don't hesitate to drop me a comment!
One more thing -- do you think I shouldn't allow poetry anymore?

I think you should keep the poetry. That is how some authors express themselves best. Please individually validate each story. There are some really poor quality stories on here consisting of bad grammar and spelling. They haven't even proofread their stories before submitting. It should be at least a little bit of an effort to get your story submitted here.

As far as the poetry I think it should still be allowed for there are many writers out there who do best at writing them. I'm not sure about the validation though, because although there are some poor works out there, to have to check all of them would probably be a hassle. To have to go through every single story could get tiresome, but I guess thats just my opinion. In the end you should just do what you feel is best. -shadow

I'm not sure if this is possible, but each new story should be validated. Every chapter after that first may not need to be validated unless you want to keep tabs on a certain few due to consant bad grammar/ spelling. Poetry is always fun to read and should be kept on the site.

I don't think that you should validate EVERY story. just authors who have bad spelling and grammer. and poetry is fun to write, as well as read

I don't really read poetry, so I don't care if it stays or goes. As for validation, at least SOME stories should be individually validated, because this is too good of a site to turn into fanfiction.net. But authors with good grammar who adhere to the rules should be automatically validated.

personaly i think you should limitt the poetry because i don't think you should get rid of all of it. but there is a lot. and some of it is really good. as for the validation i think that some with bad grammer should be induviduly validated others with good grammer should be auto. validated.

i think that a lot of the poetry is good but i think you should inividually validate stories and such because, like people have said many stories have bad grammar and spelling, also i think you should try and have it focus on just Stephanie Meyer's vampires instead of Buffy and others because this shouldn't turn into a vampire fanfiction site it should stay a Twilight/New Moon/Eclipse website. Many people may have never heard of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or seen the show, also the Charmed/witch fanfics are sorta annoying since theres practically no way Bella would be a witch.

Poetry is fine. And while I love the "instant gratification" of no validations, I think they are needed. Like many people have stated, there is a lot of horrible grammar and spelling getting through. To respond to IsabellaMarieSwanCullen -- I'm one of the writers posting stories about Buffy and others. They are called "crossover" -- it's when characters from the Twilight books meet characters from other stories. All of the stories I post on here are about the characters from Stephenie Meyer's books. Some of them also include characters from other sources, like a TV show. It makes things more interesting. You don't have to read them (or even like them) -- but there should be a place for them. Crossover fanfiction has been going on a long time; I've been writing fanfiction since I was in high school (1998) -- and many of them have been crossovers. Lots of people write crossovers.

So glad you are back! I am an avid poet, and would be VERY mad if it wasn't allowed. While I do love instant gratification, I guess validation is necessary. But, possibly, you could, as someone said earlier, only validate the first chapter and then instant-validate the rest...

Keep the poetry! I don't write it, but it's fun to read. And, awesome alice is right, we can't reply to anything. It kinda sucks. And to whever the heck said crossovers shouldn't be allowed, why not? You don't have to read them, and there are some people who enjoy them, like me. Kayla Ariev's stories are like my favorite ones on here, and almost all of them are crossovers. As for the validation thing, you could give authors that you trusted the ability to post immediately, and ones who's stories have poor grammar, spelling, or plot don't get to post immediately, or possibly at all unless they fix it. It would make them easier to read and ultimately better, plus give the authors incentive to proof their stories. Sorry this is so long. Oh, and Please post the odd ship challenge, we're all dying to know.

I think the poetry should stay, a lot of it is very wonderful. Woudn't it be a hassle to validate each story? That could get annoying. Although, in some stories the grammer and spelling is really awful. Please fix the review problem, I really want to respond to some reviews!

I think that you should individually validate stories because there are a lot of stories that have really bad grammar or spelling. about the poetry...i think that you should still keep it.
