Decisions

Posted 12 May 07

So I've given you guys a week to tell me what you think, and the response has been amazing.  I've gotten a big welcome and answers to my questions.  And a review problem, but I'll talk about that later.

First of all, poetry is definitely staying.  I didn't really have a reason to take it down before, except that maybe nobody ever read it, but it turns out I was wrong about that.  The famous menti belle convinced me.  (You guys should all read her poem My Lone Heart.  Have I already recommended it to you?  I can't remember.)

About validation!  Yes, this is the big question and I had lots of differing opinions.  I searched for a long time through my admin panel and I finally found a way to make almost everybody happy.  I can't validate only the first chapter, that just isn't possible.  But I can validate by member, so the people with really good writing skills are automatically accepted.  Isn't that wonderful?

So I'm going to turn validation on, but if you're one of the good writers -- artists are always automatically allowed to post their work, heh -- you'll be automatically validated.  And I'm going to go through this site and systematically DELETE the stories that are blatantly disregarding the rules.  I mean, I don't even know if there are any on here, but just so you know.  I know it sounds harsh, but like a bunch of people have said, I don't want this to be like Fanfiction.net.

And the review problem?  I've checked it out, and I really don't know why you guys are having the problem.  I was able to respond to my reviews...And there's no way I can undo the update.  I'm really, really sorry.  I'm looking into it, though.

The challenge has kind of fallen by the wayside because, as you can see, I have a lot to do.  You guys are welcome to post your challenge submissions up, like a couple of people have.

Thanks!

Kaiwynn

So let me get this straight. "good writers" get automatically validated? Thats just a load of crap. So you get to decide, "oh, such-and-such is a great author, so she doesn't have to get validated... but I don't like this persons writing, so they have to get validated..." Ok. So next to my review section there is a column labeled "validated". Does that mean im a sucky writer? Truthfully, i couldn't care less whether or not i'm great at writing, because i don't plan on becoming an author when i grow up. But some people will care, and this is going to tick them off. Who cares if this turns out like fanfiction.net? its better then i'mreallypissedoffbecausekaiwynnsaidiwasn'tagoodwriter.com Either go back to validating all of them or don't validate any of them, because this choosing buisness is a load of shit.

I still can't respond to my reivews! AHH! What should I do, just ignore them, or what? And i disagree with twilightaholic. I like the choosing thing, but are you going on plot, or grammar and spelling? Cause that makes more sense than the plot, because it would be mean to do that. But some of the grammar and spelling on here is terrible.

I AGREE WITH TWILIGHTAHOLIC. i actualy brought it to her attention too- we would like to write a letter. it is a bunch of crap. i don't know if you didn't mean for it to come out like what you said- So I'm going to turn validation on, but if you're one of the good writers -- artists are always automatically allowed to post their work, heh -- you'll be automatically validated. And I'm going to go through this site and systematically DELETE the stories that are blatantly disregarding the rules. I mean, I don't even know if there are any on here, but just so you know. I know it sounds harsh, but like a bunch of people have said, I don't want this to be like Fanfiction.net. - because i think we are all getting the idea that the people who aren't getting atomaticlly vailidated are bad writers. we aren't. thats all i have to say

o and also- about what twilightaholic said- i am one of the people who cares. i want to be an author- and i don't like when somebody says i am a bad writer...especially on a fanfiction site on which i write for fun(all though when it somes to somebody i don't even know saying that i am bad i get touchy. and if you knew twilightaholic and my age we would surprise a lot of you that are 18 and over on how good we really are).....

i agree with twilightaholic! this is a site where people can post their fanfiction! not a competition! its crazy to just start saying "this person can validate because tehy're a good wiriter and this person cant." Whose in the postion to start judging us? this is just crap!!!! an ohh yea- i still cant respond to my reviews! plz fix it!!!

So let me get this straight, good writers get automatic validation? hmm, well that's not a bad idea. I really hate the crap writing that no one even likes, no offense to anyone, really, but it's really annoying when you can't even read it because there are so many spelling errors. Also, smut is bad and it just makes it disgusting. Thanks for updating the rules.

Guys, stop freaking about the 'good writers get automatic validation' thing. I think that it is saying that if you write with good grammar and always follow the rules, then you are not a concern and don't need to be validated because of it. Also, when the grammar is awful, it ruins a story. And I'm not trying to insult anybody, really, but there is some really bad writing taking up bandwidth on this site, where the plot is not developed and it is just torture to read. Sorry, I just really, really needed to get that off my chest.

i agree with blonde bella but only to a certin extent- i do agree that the bad grammer has got to go and that encludes spelling- but people who don't do that very much like myself and others are not getting automaticly vailedated storys- and that means that there is only one thing left- she thinks we are bad at writeing. that is where i draw the line

well i just have one thing 2 say 2 EVERYONE look at the title of the webpage Twilight Archives::Twilight Fanfiction and Fanart NOT Fanfiction.net i hate to say it but the crossovers are getting annoying because #1 I don't understand most of them #2 as Stephanie Meyer has said on her website her vampires are NOTHING like other vampires!

By Kayla Ariev

If you don't like the crossovers, don't friggin' read them!!! Duh! For the rest of us, leave us the hell alone. I'm tired of reading your complaints about crossovers. Seriously. Get over it. No one is forcing you to read them. It states quite clearly on the main page that the story is a crossover. When you see that, just stop -- skip over it, and move on. It's really not that difficult. As for people complaining about "not being validated right away" -- perhaps that's because you can't spell. One person's post above complaining of such is riddled with spelling errors.

I'm going to agree with Kayla Ariev--I personally don't really like crossovers (sorry guys, I'm sure they are lovely, but I dunno--Twilight world + something else = not my favorite), but I have MANY friends who love them. So stop complaining, you don't have to read them, because A LOT of people do. And, with the validation thing--I think it is fair. Some people can't spell. At all. And, it's not too hard to get spell check, there are MANY free spellcheck things online. Or on Microsoft Word. In fact, one of the people who said they were good at spelling--well, their post was, as Kayla Ariev put it "riddled with such errors." I am sick of all this complaining. No, you aren't bad writers. It just means that you guys have something--whether it be spelling related, grammar related, or something else--that you need to work on. I'm actually a little relieved, because some of this stuff is so hard to read because of the lack of spell-checking. It is "torture to read" as Blonde Bella put it. This isn't FanFiction. If you want to put stuff on the site that has a major lack of spellcheck, grammar check and such, well, go get an account at FanFiction.net, because we don't want it here. Sorry. Just had to say that.

OMG! Some of you people are so freaking immature! One, the validation thing probably only works after you submit a couple chapters, so if your thing doesn't automatically validate, it's probably bc u haven't submitted enough chapters after Kaiwynn started this system. And how in the Hell did crossovers get dragged into this? I love reading crossovers, especially ones with any kind of vampires in them. If you don't like them, don't read them. And, furthermore, if you can't spell check your damn story, then why the hell do you bother writing? If you are too lazy to do that, how do you type that many words? Seriously people, grow up!

By addictedtotwilight

Wow, I forgot something! All you people worried about not getting automatic validation, why are you worried if you're good authors?

By awsomealice94

Posted 15 May 07

to answer addictedtotwilight's question it is because kaiwynn said- but if you're one of the good writers -- artists are always automatically allowed to post their work, heh -- you'll be automatically validated. that must mean that the people with not automatticlly vailidated storys are bad writers. hense why we get a little mad

By DormantHeart

On contrary to addictedtotwilight I don't think that it's so much that everyone is immature because of the whole validation thing, but that we are fighting with each other over it. Seriously, why get all revved up with each other when they can't fix the problem. And back to the validation thing, maybe it was just a bad choice of words, I don't know but I do know that complaing to one another won't solve anything.

About the validation thing.... Some stories here have a great potential, but unfortunately, the grammar and spelling is horrible. It takes away from the story. In my stories, I try my best to keep them free of spelling and grammar errors the best I can. I don't think, 'Sorry I suck at spelling' is not a legitimate excuse. There are plenty of FREE spell checks on the internet. So when I see stories littered with errors, it kind of gets me upset. And also, if you don't get automatically validated, that may just mean that you haven't done some of the most famous stories on this site. You could have great stories, but you may just be a little unknown. It may not mean that you are a bad writer. So if you are upset about not being automatically updated, don't be. Just keep writing. And the crossovers...The twilight world is not the only wold out there. I say, if the stories have the Cullens as main or very important characters, the crossover is fine.

hmm, i hope kaiwynn knows that even though i am mad that dosn't mean she should stop vailidateing my storys. and i think the crossovers (your gunna kill me for this-my opinion though) should go. i just don't think that they are very "twilight" realated-even though they may have the charicters. thats just my opinion and i will say right now that i am not meaning to offened anyone or anything like that. k, i still love you guys. i do think the whole vailidateing thing is a rip off- and that justice should be discoverd. that and i think that it may be turning into a compitition(srry for my horrible spelling-no spell check here) and that it really isn't about that.

Whoaahh. Didn't mean to start that swarm of angry commentators. Ok. You know what guys, this is pointless. I've looked at all the comments, and its kinda funny. All the people who are automatically validated think the rule is fair, but all the people who aren't, don't. All the people who write crossovers think crossovers deserve a spot on the sight, all the people who don't write them, don't think they should be on there. ^^Just thought i'd point that out. :)

Ok, I take most of my other comment back as now when I finally have tried to update since this whole validation thing started I can't. For over an hour now I have waited to see if my story would be validtated and all I see is a NO. Since then other stories have been allowed on so I know that mine has probably been over looked. I'm down right pissed off that no one can read my story, especially since I do have spell check and have gone through it numerous times to make sure there were no grammatical errors. I 100% agree with everyone against this whole validation thing, for it definately injust to everyone who is not a good writer or artist as you call them.

My stories take a little while to be updated, too. I try to make my stories have good spelling and grammar. But some stories have the horrible spelling. There are plenty of free spell checks out there. You just have to copy and paste. So even though I'm not getting automatically updated, I think that's it's fair. It's probably a popularity thing, too. Known writers=instant validation. Unknown with one or two small stories= not instant. Just try to put yourselves out there more. Don't be angry at Kaiwynn for trying to make everyone happy.
