ATTN: Authors

Posted 21 Aug 08

Hi, it's me again with yet another news item.

It has come to my attention that some authors are acting rude or disrespectful to the mods.

Also, some authors believe that the mods are acting rude towards them.

To clear up this, let me just say this and Jenn and Kaiwynn will probably agree with me:

1. The mods are not here to pester you endlessly without a good reason. We are here to accept AND reject stories due to their coherency, basic plot outlines, and especially when they adhere to the rules.

2. Submission rules are there for a reason. When you pay attention and submit your chapter(s)/art/poem with a clear concept of what the rules are, there's a 99% that your stories will be accepted on the first turn. It's really not that hard to preview  and review your story prior to submission. It will spare you and the mods to submit again.

3. Now, rejection letters. When your story is rejected, it's rejected for a reason or reasons. We don't do it to abuse the power we have, we do it because either your story did not adhere to the rules or was poorly outline/formatted. Emails are cordial and we never disrespect or make fun of an author due to their stories.

4. If a mod suggest that an author would probably benefit from a beta, don't take it the wrong way. There are plenty of betas offered on this site that can review your submission and okay it. When you have a beta, your chances of your submission being accepted is higher.

5. If you receive a rejection letter, it is RUDE to cuss at a mod, or any person, really. We don't do it to infuriate you or anything. So please don't disrespect the mods by using petty words and very, very disrespcetful behavior. What are you trying to prove, really? Your magnamious use of words that don't make you sound intelligent?

6. If you have an honest problem with a mod, feel more than free to email Kaiwynn at her email, but please don't cause unneccesary drama where it's not needed.

Other than that, the authors who have bbeen more than gracious and kind, you guys are awesome.

Keep submitting stories and have a nice day.

-Gabriella

Really, Why Don't You give us some Examples of those who do that. Or If it's so Petty why are you saying anything at all? I mean, You are such a hypocrite. And Secondly, we have every right to speak our mind because of the first Amendment. Now I am starting to get sick of this and I am honestly considering contacting Kaiwynn about this because You of all people shouldn't be bringing this up.

I am not taking away your right of speech. You can go ahead and cuss at me for not accepting your stories or simply reminding you to resize your banner. Honestly, contact Kaiwynn about my behaviour. I am in no rights doing anything remotely bad other than asking for respect. I'm not even DEMANDING it. I am not a hypocrite, either. I'm not serious business about everything but when someone starts talking in ways I find degrading and disrespectful, I will do something in a ordain, classy way. If you don't like me, then there's no need to cause a "fight" over the internet over a submission or banner size.

you mean freedom of speech? that's the government guaranteeing your right to dissent against them. not a privately owned website to which you get free access allowing you to do whatever you want. if the mods think you need a beta, you probably need a beta. they're offering a suggestion with the intent to help you become a better writer. if your story gets rejected, it's because (in my experience, at least) there's a lot of spelling and grammar errors, or it breaks one of the site rules. i think it's really very rude to call someone who is volunteering their time to provide you with a free service a hypocrite, or petty. I'm fairly certain you're going to attack me now, but i really don't particularly care. I really apprecate the mods and all the hard work they put into this site. Thanks to the other authors and most people here who make it a great place to be a Twilight fan.

Thank you, Nightrose, really. I never even insulted her or did anything to recieve hostility from her side. So, I really don't know where this bitterness stems from.

Why is anyone getting angry about this stuff? I think the mods are doing a great job of running the site...it's a huge responsiblity, and there's only a couple of them. Snaps for the great mods!

I just got here.. But, I think it's nice to know that there ARE people trying to check everything that comes through the front door. I mean, if anyone gets upset about content on their page, they have to answer for it. That's a huge responsibility! :) Also.. The internet knows no country boundaries -- freedom of speech only includes the freedom that their site allows you (remember the limitations that you accepted when you joined up).

Thanks tweedsleeper and AnyDaAngel, you guys are sweet. And WELCOME AnyDaAngel<3 Have fun, this site is really nice and full of really good stories.

Thank you, lustandthrill! And Falloutgirl458, YOU are one of the examples. You need to spell check and grammar check your stories before you submit them or they will NOT be accepted. You cannot get mad at us for rejecting your stories when you are not following the rules.
Follow the rules, and you will have no problem.

Honestly, I really love this website and I am glad that I found it. Reading some of the stories on this site has gotten me interested in writing again and I'm glad that it's held to the standards that it is. I think the mods are doing a great job and I completely understand about the amount of work that is involved. If they're managing their education, jobs and this site... then they must be really busy. Great Job Mods! I give you a round of applause!

YAY FOR MODS!! Without you guys, there would be no TwilightArchives. You all do a fantastic job, and anyone who gives you crap has absolutely no right to. If you guys didn't check all the stories on this site, I probably wouldn't be here. I love it because of the standard of the writing. Anyway, keep up the awesome work, Mods! iluvedwardcullen xx

I support the mods sorry you have to put up with this sort of crap — you guys are awesome! Anyone who would like to put this banner in the summary of their stories or on their bio, let me know and i'll give you the code, or just copy paste and give me credit for the banner.

Just chiming in to say THANK YOU to all the mods. It's nice that spelling, grammar and common decency are still expected in this day and age -- even if some people can't recognize it. You guys are amazing -- and I, for one, appreciate that you go through and make sure stories have proper grammar, etc. before allowing them to be posted. Otherwise, this would just be any old other free-for-all fanfic site that I will not name ... **cough*fanfiction.net*cough**

I was once upset with a mod because she kept denying my submission and I DO have spelling and grammer check on my computer. Each time she denied it i would check to see what was wrong, she would always say "Spelling and Grammer" was what was wrong with it. It made me more pissed that the next day when i resubmitted it without doing anything to it and kaiwynn checked and approved it. But i would never start a silly fight over the Internet over something so small. People are over reacting. I would be more than happy to have someone more exsperienced suggest help for me. Its like them saying, "You did something wrong and i have to reject it, but why dont you try a beta so i dont have to reject it." I mean do you really think the mods, who have to spend so much time on this huge and amazing fansite, have time to deliberently pick on you. Just one out of the thousands on this site. Dont be silly. They are doing a great job and you should be thanking them, instead of fighting with them...

You guys are all right and I am apoligizing to the mods and I know that I don't deserve the acceptwance of the apology but like I told lustandthrill I am very young and I am very sensitive because I am used to my stories coming out right and I think the problem is my spelling check ( not my beta ) because I used that before. So I am apoligizing and thanking all of the mods for everything that they do and I am again sorry to everyone that I offended, Especially
lustandthrill and kaiwynn.

personally I think the mods are great. They are the people that volunteer time to keep the site up and running. Without them this site wouldn't exist and if they didn't reject stories that weren't right there would be a lot of stuff on here that could easily be fixed. Recently one of the mods helped me with my story because my computer wouldn't format it correctly. So thanks to the mods that keep this website the way it should be.

By j3nn

Haha, Iris. I love the banner. Thank you. :] And thank you to everyone who formats correctly. Bella_Edward13: That's probably because each mod is different in respect to how strict they are with the rules. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, however, and I'm glad you don't hold it against us. :]

Wow. I'm away for a few days and I miss so much! I'm beginning to wonder if people ever outgrow their need to create drama... the mods are doing their jobs. They make rules, we follow. End of story. Personally, I wouldn't take their jobs if someone paid me.. too much work. Let's not make it harder on them, huh?
