I held Bella in my arms for the entire night. I had forgotten how it felt to have her so close. I wanted to stay here forever. I bent my face toward Bella and kissed her hair. She rolled over and let out a sigh.

Her breath blew into my face and I could smell the sweet fragrance coming off of her. I kissed the tip of her nose and a small smile lit her face. She sighed again.

“Edward,” she whispered my name then she scooted herself closer to me. I wrapped my arms tighter around her in response and she snuggled into my chest.

Yes, I would love to stay here forever. I glanced over at the clock, it said 8:00, and Bella would be waking up soon. Her father had left three hours ago, after checking on Bella. That was the only time through the entire night that I had let go of her.

Just then, Bella started to stir. Her eyelids fluttered open and she looked up at me with a smile on her face.

“Good morning, gorgeous,” I told her. Then I bent down and kissed the tip of her nose.

“Hey, that’s my line,” she told me, a false frown on her face.

“Well, I guess I will have to make it up to you,” I told her. An eager smile lit her face as I bent down and brushed my lips against hers. I whispered her name and then kissed her. Her lips met mine eagerly and, even though I though it impossible, I pulled her closer to me. I kissed her with as much passion as I could muster, and when her breathing became very shallow, I pulled away and leaned my forehead on hers.

“Am I forgiven?” I asked her.

“Definitely,” she replied simply.

She closed her eyes and I did the same. I listened to her steady breathing and waited for her heartbeat to slow to a normal pace. That was another thing I loved about her. They way she always overreacted even at the slightest touch.

“What are you thinking about?” Bella asked me. I opened my eyes and she was looking at me, curiosity filling her eyes.

“I was thinking about you and your silly human reactions,” I told her.

“And what were you thinking about my silly human reactions?" She asked, a look of slight anger and embarrassment crossing her face. Her cheeks had turned a light rosy color.

“I was thinking about how much I love them,” I told her, brushing my nose against hers. Her heart started to beat faster again.

“Ah, see. That is exactly what I am talking about,” I told her, sighing in contentment.

“I am glad that you enjoy it,” she mumbled.

“Silly Bella,” I told her, touching the tip of her nose with my finger.

“Edward?” She said after a moment.

“Yes, love?” I said to her.

“Are you really going to stay with me?” She asked me. Her expression was skeptical. It pained me to see that look on her face. I never wanted her to doubt the love that I had for her. I never wanted her to second guess the fact that I would always stand by her side. I took her face between my hands and spoke.

“I will always stay with you Bella. I don’t ever want you to doubt that. I know that I have failed you and that I went back on my promise when I left you. Believe me; I will never forgive myself for putting you through so much pain. Every waking moment of the day, I would think about you and regret my decision to leave you. I came back out of love. Not out of guilt or any other reason. I came back because I could not bear one more day without you in my life.

“I know that that is selfish and that I should not subject you to all the trouble that I do, but I will not lose you again. I will stand by your side always, and never let you out of my sight. That is unless, you want to leave me. Then, I will let you go willingly, and I will cherish what little time I had with you.” By the time I was finished, Bella looked angry and I couldn’t imagine why. Did she detest me for putting her in harms way all this time? Did she want me to leave now?

“Edward, why can you not doubt the love you have for me, and promise me you will never leave, and doubt my love for you and believe that I will leave? My love for you is just as strong as your love for me. I will never leave you, and could never think of doing that. I was a mess when you weren’t here. That isn’t even the right word for it. I felt like I had been broken into a million different pieces and scattered all over the place. When you came back, it felt like all of the little pieces managed to pick themselves up and put me back together. I don’t ever want you to leave, and I would never think of leaving you.” She finished. Her eyes held a confidence that made me love her even more, if that was at all possible.

“I’m sorry Bella; it was just that I thought you would eventually see the monster and me and realize that I was all wrong for you,” I told her.

“Edward, you aren’t all wrong for me. You are exactly perfect for me. And please stop calling yourself a monster. You are the farthest thing from it. You have saved me numerous times, and without you I could never be complete. I need you in my life for it to be whole. Yes, if I had never met you I would have gone on, but there would always be something missing and I would never know what it was. Know that I know that it is, once you are taken out of my life, the purpose is ripped to shreds.”

I couldn’t resist. I kissed her with more passion than I had ever done. I broke almost all of the careful boundaries that I had put in place. This beautiful creature still loved me. I was found. I was no longer lost and pining for my one and only true love. I was here in her arms, where I hoped to stay…forever.
