Chapter 7:

By: Eternitys_Charm

His eyes, locked with mine for a few seconds, his cheery face dropped to a scowl as soon as he saw Edward and I.

"I’ll see you later, Charlie, I have to get home to Billy." Jacob said without saying a word to me. He turned around and ran toward the forest.

"Jake!" I called out beginning to run after him, Edward pulled me back, shaking his head in disapproval.

I yanked my hand away from his and ran as fast as I could after Jacob. I sniffed the air, seeing if I could scent him. I did, he wasn’t far, I sped my way through the thick forest, dodging trees and branches.

"Jake!" I called out once more as I saw the a tall figure standing underneath the shade of a tree.

I walked forward with caution, the figure made no movement, he only stared down at the floor.

"Go away, Bella. You’re not wanted by us anymore." Jacob said, his voice low and pained.

"I’m not going anywhere Jacob, not until you talk to me. I haven’t seen you since I was changed--"

"Don’t you think it’s because I don't want to see you?" He asked still not moving from the tree’s side. "I don’t want to see anyone who betrayed me, left me, abandoned me!" Jacob said raising his voice.

"Jake I’m sorr--"

"Sorry? Save your breath, Bella. You caused me pain when you left." He shook his head, "I loved you Bella."

I didnt know what to say then, I stayed frozen twenty feet away from him.

"I loved you, but you chose him. Them. You’re no friend of mine anymore." He raised his head and finally looked at me, his eyes full of sadness. I just wanted to reach over and hug him. The sight caused me pain, it tore me inside to see one of my best friends this pained. "I hate you." He whispered.

And then, he disappeared into the forest, leaving shreds of clothes behind his despair.

I only gaped at the place he stood, torn by his last words. He hated me. I gasped and fell on my knees.

"Bella?" Edward said behind me in a low voice.

I looked up. Edward was hovering over me with a sympathetic smile.

"Oh." I gasped and threw myself into his arms.

"I’m sorry." He said rubbing my back softly.

I shook my head in his chest. Not able to talk about the scene that had just happened.

Edward scooped me up into his arms, and took me back to Charlie’s house.

Alice’s POV

We all sat around in the living room, Emmett and Jasper playing cards on the table, Rosalie checking out merchandise on the television, Carlisle and Esme enjoying a book, and me trying to get anything I could on Omar.

"Hey everybody." Kendra said appearing in the living room, her hand laced with Omar’s.

Speak of the devil.

"Hello." I said smoothly, peering at Omar with skepticism.

He didn’t even notice me, he looked directly at Jasper and Emmett playing their little porker game.

"Can I play?" He asked.

Jasper and Emmett exchanged looks and shrugged. Omar directed himself toward the coffee table.

Kendra smiled and sat next to me bouncily. I glared with annoyance, I didn’t like Omar one bit, but she seemed to had fallen head over heals for him.

"Emmett! Credit card!" Rosalie said, gnawing her nails into Emmett’s arm. "Must have the purse!"

Emmett sighed, handed her the credit card and Rosalie disappeared into the kitchen, dialing her cell phone with speed.

I looked at Omar and Jasper immediately sensed my uncomfort towards him. Jasper looked at me questioningly. "I don’t like him." I mouthed out.

Jasper nodded, "me neither." He mouthed back to my surprise. "So Omar," Jasper said aloud, in a conservative tone. "Where did you come from?"

"Chicago." Omar answered indifferently, keeping his eyes on his cards.

"Hmm....that’s where Edward was born, also." I said.

Omar’s eyes seemed to darkened at the mentioning of Edward’s name, but I dismissed it, thinking it was only because he had just lost the game.

"Really?" Omar said looking up from the cards, Emmett swiping away the chips to his favor. "I didn’t know."

"How did you wind up all the way across here?" Emmett asked with curiosity.

Omar shrugged, "the same way you guys made it here, too, I guess; traveling."

"You guessed wrong, we --except for Alice and Jasper-- were all found by Carlisle." Emmett said shuffling the cards.

"How did you find us?" I questioned Omar again.

"I was hunting out in the forest. I heard voices and smelled your scent and I knew you were vampires, I was curious." He paused to looked down at his cards, "I didn’t know I was intruding a wedding, my apologies. Kendra caught my curiosity the most, though." Beside me Kendra giggled with glee, "the lonely one out of the bunch, the one without a partner, I guessed. She automatically charmed me with her smile and laugh."

Emmett coughed trying to hide the laughter.

"How lovely," Esme whispered.

"Yes." I agreed half-heartedly with Esme.

"I don’t mean to sound rude," Carlisle spoke up, "but, how were you changed?"

Omar frowned, we had obviously touched a subject that he didn’t want to discuss. "I was walking down the street, it was dark, I had just come from a party with my friends. I wasn’t drunk, though. The street was lonely, I was about two blocks away from my house, when I heard a crash in the alley. I was stupid and curious enough to check it out." He paused taking in a breath, "when I saw who was being attacked, my knees gave out on me and I fell to the ground, the noise startled the creature, the vampire. But he didn’t come after me, he merely ran away. Leaving my father’s body torn apart."

I couldn’t help but feel sympathy on that, Jasper looked at me and nodded, a sign that Omar was telling the truth.

"The vampire had drained my father out of his blood, decapitated him and shred him to pieces for him to eat." Omar didn’t even seem like he was with us anymore, he was lost in his thoughts, his eyes were unfocused, and his whole body was still, only his mouth moved. "I didn’t move from the alley’s mouth, I stayed on the floor, weeping. I felt a cold presence beside me, when I picked up my head, another vampire was inches away from my face. I had no time to scream or run. The creature growled in my face and pushed me against the alleys wall. Another vampire came, I’m guessing she was his mate. She told him to stop, that they had already fed, and that I would just be a waste."

Rosalie had come back into the room, she listened intently at Omar’s story. Everyone in the room was still, eyes wide with anticipation and filled with sympathy.

"But the vampire had already bitten me," he stretched out his neck, where you could vividly see a crescent shaped bit mark. "I ran, but the pain was catching up to me. I tried to fight it, but it felt like I was burning. I ran deep into a forest close to my home, I ran far enough from anything. The pain was hard to bear but I kept running anyway, until I collapsed from the intensity of the fire in me. I stayed there for I don’t know how long, but it felt like an eternity. Until the pain finally ceased, and I was able to move."

Everything fell silent from then on. Nobody knew what to say, we only stared at one another without speaking.

Omar seemed to come back from his thoughts, and stood up. "I’m sorry." He said and disappeared out of the house and into the forest.

Kendra stood but I placed my hand on her shoulder, "no, Kendra, let him be right now." I said.

She shook her head and raced after Omar.
