Edward and I walked up the steps to my house, hand in hand. He was holding my left hand so as to hide the ring. I slowly opened the door to my house and walked in. “Bella? Is that you?” Who else could it be?
“Yeah Dad, It’s me….and Edward.” I sighed, I could do this. I had to do this.
We walked into the living room where Charlie was watching a baseball game on T.V. He saw our expressions, Edward was grinning from ear to ear and I was Happy, but nervous.
“Dad, we need to tell you something…” I started, looking at Edward nervously. When I looked back at Charlie is face was purple. And I hadn’t even told him anything yet. He picked up the remote and muted the T.V. And me and Edward sat on the couch.
“Bella? Are you pregnant. Cause I swear to god if you are I will kill Edward!” He screamed glaring at Edward the whole time.
“Wait Dad no! I’m not. Jeez! It’s something else.” I said quickly cause I saw Charlie glance at his gun.
“Well then, what is it?” He said calming down.
I opened my mouth to say something but nothing would come out. I didn’t know what t say. “Would you like me to tell him?” Edward whispered in my ear. I shook my head no. But I still couldn’t speak when I tried again. So I decided to try something else.
I gently took my hand out of Edwards and held it up in front of Charlie. He looked at the ring, then to me, then to Edward and back at the ring. “No.” He said.
I looked at him. “Ummm…No what?” I asked
“No, your not marrying Edward.”
“Listen I know I’m young, But I also know that this is what I want. Please?” I begged.
“I do care that your young. But that’s not what I meant. Your not marrying Edward. Period.”
“What…You mean like…Never?” I asked in disbelief. Who was he to tell me who I can or cannot marry.
He nodded his head. “I can’t believe this!” I yelled “ He has been nothing but nice to me and you. He treats me with respect. I love him. He…He….I’m marrying him whether you like it or not!” And with that said I turned around and ran up the stairs. I yanked open the door to my room and slammed it shut.
I jumped onto my bed and started crying. I would understand it is he did want me to get married because I was too you. But he didn’t want me to get married to Edward. Ever.
I laid on my bed for a few more minutes listening to Edward and Charlie argue, Until I couldn’t take it anymore. I walked downstairs carefully. I couldn’t believe I had made it up the stairs without tripping, so I didn’t want to push my luck.
I walked behind Charlie, for he was standing up and yelling at Edward. And Edward was just sitting there on the couch, just listening to it all. Charlie was saying, “And you know what happened when you left her? She turned into a zombie, she wouldn’t eat she couldn’t sleep and-“
I cut him off. “Dad. Please don’t…” I said softly.
He turned around startled. I was looking at the floor, I couldn’t look at him. But I looked at Edward. “Edward..Can I talk to Charlie alone, I really need to.”
“Of course Bella. I love you. See you later.” He kissed me softly on my head and left.
I turned to Charlie. “Dad, I am getting married, and I’m sorry if you don’t like it. But I love him and I want to be with him forever. You saw what happened when he left. I want to know that he is mine forever. And he wants to know the same thing. Because he does love me. Please, I want you to walk me down the aisle. Because if you don’t Phil will. But he’s not my Dad. Will you please?” I said all of this calmly, but looking at the floor. I didn’t want to see his face just yet.
A few minutes past and we still stood the same. Me staring at the floor, and him staring at me. He lifted his hand, and put it under my chin. He lifted my head to where I was looking at him straight in the eyes. “I do not approve of this. But you are right. He does love you, and you love him. So I will be there at your wedding and I will walk you down the aisle. And I shouldn’t base this off your mother’s and my wedding, we were young and stupid. But you are both young, I do not believe you are as stupid as us. You are deeply in love, and I can see that. And I really do think that Edward is a good guy, But what he did to you when he left, I can’t….I can’t do that again, Because Bells, I love you.”
That was the longest speech I had ever heard Charlie make, and I was crying at the end. I hugged him tightly. “Thank-you Daddy!” I felt like a little girl again.
“Your welcome sweetie.” He said and kissed the top of my head. I wiggled out from the hug, and said goodnight. I ran up the stairs, and into my room. I grabbed my bathroom stuff and took my shower. I changed into my holey pajama’s. Then I skipped to my room humming the wedding march. I hadn’t even realized I was doing that.
Right before I got to my door I heard Charlie snoring. That means Edward might be in my room! I opened my door carefully, still absentmindedly humming the wedding march. I flipped my switch and sure enough Edward was on my bed, laying down with his arms behind his head. He was smiling my favorite crooked smile, and his eyes were closed.
I walked over to my bad and laid down beside him my head on his chest. “We’re getting married!” I whispered. And that made his smile grow even more.
