I Love You...

I woke up in my bedroom in Phoenix. I jumped straight away. The door opened and my mom walked in.

“Bella, you’re finally up!”

I stared at her.

“Where’s Phil? And Charlie and Edward?”

She looked confused for a moment.

“Bella…” she began slowly. “Phil and I broke up, about a year and a half ago. Charlie is in Forks. And who is Edward?”

“No,” was all I could say. I ran past her out the door and down the stairs. I rang Edwards’s cell phone.

“This number is not in use,” the mechanical voice on the other end said.

I called Alice and the same thing happened. I threw the phone on the floor in frustration. By now my mom had followed me down the stairs. She looked a little scared, but angry. I stormed out the front door and the blinding hot sun hit my face. I stood there for a few minutes, in my pyjamas.

“No,” I repeated, hugging myself.

It was just black. When I finally hit land everything was still dark. Then there was a dim light to my right. I turned and saw Locke strolling towards me. I resisted the urge to attack him then and there; he was having some interesting thoughts.

“Amazing!” Locke said, “I didn’t think you’d survive.”

I guess he really does love her. But why? Thousands of humans like her. I growled at his thoughts. How could he not see how amazing Bella was?

“You want her back? You’ll have to talk to them.” he said.

“And you’ll explain everything?” I inquired. He nodded and began to walk away, I followed him and we walked towards the small little light. Ironic, I guess. I always thought heaven would be a light. But there was nothing heavenly behind this light.

Bella POV

It had been a torturous week. I tried to convince everyone Edward was real. I even called Charlie to ask him but he told me what everyone else did; that Edward Cullen never existed.

I mumbled something about it being a dream to my mom, but I knew it was true. It had to be. I must admit that after a whole week it was a bit of leap of faith, but I knew he was real. I had to go to Forks. To see for myself.

I bought plan tickets on the internet and I was due to fly out later today. It had been a long time since I was in phoenix. The last time I was I was being chased by a vampire. I walked around my neighbourhood, only a couple of hours before I’d be flying back to Forks.

I had grown up in Phoenix but Forks was really starting to feel like home, it probably always would. I sighed.

“Oh Edward, where for art thou?” I whispered.

I started to walk back in the direction of my house, but something down an alley caught my eye. I walked down and saw a tiny topaz ring on the ground. It was my ring. I picked it up and slipped it on my ring finger in my left hand.

“Hello,” a musical voice came from behind me.

I whirled around. Edward was standing there, leaning on the wall in the shadow. I ran into his arms.

“Edward!”

I looked up into his eyes and saw confusion. He narrowed his eyes.

And then he leaned down and bit into my neck. He eyes turned blood red in a second. He didn’t look right. There was something off about him. He stayed at my neck. I was started to feel dizzy. I realised suddenly he wasn’t going to stop. I tried to push him away, but he was too strong. Then I fainted.

When I woke up again I was in the hospital in Forks. I was lying on the ground, in the wedding dress, now tattered and dirty.

“Bella!” Edward was at my side in a second. “It wasn’t me Bella! I would never hurt you! Locke just wanted to teach you some kind of lesson. Show you that I’m dangerous, but I would never hurt you!” he said in such a rush I had to concentrate to hear it all.

I leaned up and kissed him softly, and I could feel him kiss me back. Then too soon he pulled back, smiling. I looked at him questioningly.

“I guess I have to fill you in on a few things.” he whispered in my ear.
