The sins took a step closer to Keira. She merely smiled as the proximity between them was closing fast.

When Anger was close enough, she struck Keira. Keira didn’t move, nor did she fall as anger expected.

Keira raised a hand and softly brushed Anger’s cheek. Keira’s brow creased, presumably in anger, as she dug her finger nails into Anger’s face.

Anger screamed in agony. She fell to the ground, and simultaneously six others fell behind her.

Keira cautiously stepped over the bodies, and to the edge of the huge fiery pit that had just erupted in the middle of the floor. She looked down as the flames licked at her face. Any other person would’ve have felt fear, but she didn’t.

She reached up to her neck and unclasped the cape. It slid off her shoulders and fell to the floor behind her.

“No! Keira no!! Don’t give up!” a girl’s voice screamed behind her.

She smiled to herself, knowing something only she would ever know.

“Fight’s not over yet.” she muttered, before jumping head first into the fire.

And then Keira jumped. The reaction was catastrophic. Fire blew up out of the pit, and filled the room. Edward spun me around, putting his body between me and the flames. I closed my eyes.

After a few minutes, Edward gently shook my shoulder. I opened my eyes slowly. We were back in the hospital. One of the walls was crumbling and half demolished. The other walls remained standing, but had bad burn marks.

“We have to leave quickly.” Edward murmured in my ear.

I got up slowly, but before Edward could pick me up, I saw them in the middle of the floor.

I walked over slowly. They had their arms wrapped around each other. They were aged since I’d last seen them, and they had slight burn marks on their arms.

It was Locke and Keira.

“Don’t leave them!” I urged Edward.

He picked them up and threw them over his shoulder. I slid on his back, and he set off at a run out of the hospital.

We had run all the way back to the house. When we got there Edward carefully laid the bodies on the floor near the piano.

I knelt down beside them, and looked at their faces. I wanted to see peaceful faces, but I didn’t. Locke looked sad, and Keira looked determined. Right to the very end.

Edward sniffed beside me.

“They smell…different than before.” he commented.

Before I could respond, the rest of the Cullens joined us. Esme looked alarmed.

“What have you done?” she asked in a tone that only a mother can perfect.

“Nothing.” Edward answered innocently, like a child being scolded.

“That doesn’t smell like Keira.” Alice muttered, sniffing.

Edward stood up. I followed in his example, and he led me up the stairs. I borrowed his cell phone and called Charlie. I got the answering machine, and left him a message informing him I was safe.

Edward and I sat on the couch, and he put a cold arm around my shoulder. I leaned into his touch.

“I guess we have no choice but to change you now,” he whispered in my ear.

I smiled but didn’t reply. He sighed and stood up.

“You should sleep.” he said.]

“Wait, Edward…is that Keira and Locke?” I asked uncertainly.

“It looks like them. It’s probable, that’s all I can say.”

He got me the blanket and wrapped it around me. I closed my eyes, but my head was pounding. There was something amiss. It didn’t fit. Keira was so confident that she would succeed, and I don’t think death was her final goal.

I finally drifted into an uneasy sleep, filled with nightmares.

Hmm…something definitely wasn’t right.
