I rolled over, still sleepy. When I realised there was no vampire lying next to me, I sat up.

“Edward?” I whispered.

“Oh, he’s busy with Caroline. It’s just so hard to get you alone Bella.” a voice I didn’t recognise replied.

I peered into the darkness but I couldn’t see anything. Then I felt something heavy on top of me. Something really heavy. I couldn’t breath. I looked up to see Adam, his face inches from mine.

“I love you…” he whispered.

I lay there, staring up at his face, unable to talk due to a lack of oxygen. His wavy black hair brushed my cheek. I have to admit, he was handsome. He was tan, with chiselled cheeks, big full lips, wide expressive eyes… but there was something off about his face. It looked too much like a mask; it looked too perfect, too happy… I half expected it to suddenly peel off.

I can’t explain it, but I suddenly felt very afraid. I didn’t like him being here… so close to me.

“We better be getting home,” he said, smiling. I didn’t like the way he said we, it sounded like I was included in this we.

He picked me up easily, and I could finally breathe. He carried me to the window. He jumped down, and set off at a run into the forest.

I wanted to scream, but the wind blew straight into my face and whenever I opened my mouth the wind caught in my throat, leaving me unable to talk for the second time. It seemed as though we had only just started running when Adam stopped.

“Welcome home!”

A huge castle, with long winding towers and a huge door at the front stood before me. Suddenly the arms were gone from beneath me. Adam dropped, not in the gentle way Edward did, but in a harsh way. As I fell on the ground, he looked questioningly.

“Let me go!!” I shouted, remembering my voice.

Adam looked taken aback. He stared at me with scrutinizing, red eyes and cocked his head to one side.

“I won’t hurt you.” he murmured, reaching out to take my hand. I snapped my hand back and glared at him.

He sighed, obviously giving up, and threw me over his shoulder. Again, it wasn’t in the gently way I was used to with Edward; it was harsh, like I was just a bag. As my stomach hit his hard shoulder, I let out a gasp. That was definitely going to bruise.

He brought me into the castle. We were only just in the door when he threw me down on the ground. We were in a long hallway with hundreds of door on both sides, and an elegant rug running the whole length of the hallway. Then he sat down opposite me, and looked at me expectantly.

“What?” I said in a small voice,

“Well what now?” he asked.

Was he serious? He kidnapped me, claiming he loved me, and now he didn’t know what to do with me. I looked at his face; his eyes were big and round like puppy dog eyes now.

“Now… you let me go.” it sounded more like a question

He laughed and shook his head slowly. We both sat there for some time. It was only when we both heard a loud bang, did he get up. I look at the door and Caroline had just come in, dragging a girl by the hair behind her. The girl was young, with long, blonde hair and big, innocent, blue eyes.

“Help me!!” she begged me and Adam. Adam didn’t move, but he looked at Caroline.

“Dinner?” he asked.

“Yes, but I wanted to have a little fun with her first.” Caroline laughed, and Adam joined in.

Then Caroline continued to drag the girl down the long hallway we were in. On the fifth door, she stopped and entered.

“Is Edward ok?” I asked Adam. He merely shrugged on response.

Then there was terrible screaming coming from the room Caroline had entered. I could feel tears running down my cheeks as I thought of what Caroline could be doing to her. Then the screams stopped.
