The city quivered violently from the structures collapsing. Every group was engaged in battle, that is everyone but ours. We circled the tower and hid in the shadows to avoid detection. There were only the main ones left, Aro, Marcus, and Caius. They were the oldest; the strongest, how were we ever going to win.

" Asthe do you need help?" I heard Allen call. " Our group succeeded with out a single loss or a scratch for that matter. This squad was all newborns, dreadfully effortless."

"Thank you," I breathed.

" Anytime," I heard him from behind me.

" Why would Aro send a group of newborns alone? They have little to no experience and they make easy targets." I wondered aloud.

"Maybe a diversion, a decoy. What could they want?" Allen's voice mirrored my curiosity. " So what's the plan?" he continued.

" Well it's ten against about four or five. I don't think that the Volturi will be unprotected. A few guards must have stayed behind... we need to find a way to get in."

"I can help." Edward whispered.

" I'm open for ideas. Shoot."

" Last time I was here there was an underground channel through the sewers. It's cut off from sunlight. No one will notice if we travel through the dark. It is never guarded so it's a perfect route. Not to get off the subject but what did you exactly do to anger the Volturi so much." I knew sooner or later someone would ask.

The wing blew gently around my face. I squinted as I looked at the sun.

" I killed Erebus." As I said that, Allen closed his eyes and bowed his head. He knew the story, he heard it before.

" Who was Erebus?" Edward asked, not understanding the significance of the name.

" Aro's only son, his pride and joy. You know him as Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles. His real name is Erebus," I answered calmly, " now show us the way." I added closing the subject.

From the corner of my eye I saw Edward freeze for a moment and stare at me. I should have kept my mouth shut instead I thought.

Edward led Allen, Alice, Carlisle, Aella, and me to a small alley near the tower. There we found a small opening, a passage to the tower.

" Are you sure this will lead us to their main room? It really doesn't look like much." Aella asked nervous.

" Positive." Edward assured her.

One by one we jumped through the small opening in the ground. Inside it was a spacious hallway made out of large cement bricks. It was very wet and hard to breathe. My lung felt like they were being crushed and my throat began to close up. I wasn't the only one. Aella stopped breathing all together but I knew that wont last for long. It's true that we can hold out breath for a long time but soon it will become very uncomfortable.

Outside of this wretched place I heard crashes and explosions. Something bad was happening.

We wasted no time and ran full speed towards our destination. At the end of the passage we reached an elevator. All the rooms we passed before were void of life - no pun intended. Not a single soul was present.

We entered the elevator and it slowly groaned to life. The cabin reached the top floor and stopped.

" Uh is this supposed to happen?" Allen asked nervously after the door didn't open.

" They know we're here." I answered. " They're on the other side of this door."

" But why bother locking it if they know we can get out?"

" Buy time." As soon as I said that, the doors slowly opened and we came face to face with six wild vampires. One problem, none of them was the Volturi.
