… the doors slowly opened and we came face to face with six wild vampires. One problem, none of them was the Volturi.

The vampires quickly split up and paired up with each from our group. These weren’t newborns. They were trained, experienced… deadly. I was pinned against a girl with a very thin frame. She looked fragile, helpless, but I knew better. She wasn’t that pretty for a vampire with orange hair framing her white, bony face. She had freckles on her cheeks and a small pink mouth that was now in a sneer. Her eyes were a burgundy unlike all the others who had blood red eyes. There was some emotion behind her eyes that I couldn’t understand. I tried reading her mind.

‘I can't… I should just turn and run… she’ll kill me. I'm scared’

“Walk away,” I whispered, giving her the option of life or death. “Walk away and I won't kill you. Surrender… right now. It’s what you want isn’t it?”

Her eyes widened and her scowl disappeared. Her body began shaking and she nodded.

“Thank you... please let me help. The Volturi will kill me anyway for betraying them.” She begged me.

I gave a slight nod and we turned towards the others who were now fighting.

Her name was Rachel, I learned. She was kicked out of her house and stumbled upon Aro himself who saw some kind of potential in her. She did have abilities. She was able to move objects with her mind, telekinesis.

“Where are the Volturi hiding?” I asked after we returned to the rundown church.

The fight was suspiciously easier than we anticipated.

“They fled Volterra and are now heading towards Florence.” Rachel replied.

Edward gasped and my eyes widened.

“Why?” I asked

“I don’t know.” She shook her head.

The rest of the groups joined us at the church moments later and I filled them in on the situation.

“Tori get the Vatican on the line. Allen, contact Vivian. She is supposed to watching Bella. Tell her to relocate.” I ordered.

“Here,” Tori handed me the phone.

“ Father Bonasera, they are in violation of the treaty.” I barked.

“Ahh my child, always to the point. Can’t I get a hello? It really has been a while since I've seen you last,” his thick Italian accent was warm and affectionate.

Father has helped me so much and for that I owed him my life.

“My apologies Father but we really have no time for that.” I softened my voice.

“Do not worry my child. Everything is taken care of already.” He assured me.

“How so?” he never failed to surprise me.

“A few of my men were in Volterra and already notified me of the situation. We will deal with the Volturi.” He promised.

“Thank you.” I breathed.

“Of course my child. Now we also located the girl, Bella. She is on a plane with Vivian. They are on their way back to New York.”

“Okay, goodbye father.” I thanked him and hung up.

“Is everything okay?” Edward asked.
”Yeah, Bella is on her way to New York” I replied.

All of a sudden my cell phone rang again.

“Hello.” I answered.

“ Asthe, it’s Vivian. There’s been a terrible accident. The plane we were on crashed over Spain. I tried my best to do everything I can to keep her alive. I'm so sorry.” Her voice shook. “I'm the only survivor.”

I froze and my phone slipped from my hands cracking in two as it hid the stone floor.

Everyone turned to look at me and out of the corner of my eye I saw Alice break into hysterics. I'm guessing Edward read her mind because soon he followed suit...
