The air around me felt thick like I was breathing water. Bella was dead.

"This can't be happening. It's not true." Edward collapsed on the floor, shaking his head.

I took Tori's phone out of her sweatshirt pocket and dialed.

"Viv, how long has it been since….." I trailed off.

"About 5 minutes," she replied.

"Vivian… go ahead." When we dropped Bella off at Vivian's I expressly told her not to turn Bella no matter what. Now we had no choice.

"Alright I'll try but it might be a bit hard with her heart not beating and all." She replied reluctantly.

I began to walk away from the group to get some privacy and to make sure no one heard what I was about to say.

"You will have to keep her heart beating artificially. Bite her then use CPR. I think the shock from the pain of the venom will be enough though." I explained.

"How can you be sure that a bite will get her heart going?" she asked.

"I've seen it happen a few times." I assured her.

"Okay I'll try and call you back in a few minutes," she said.

"Bye Viv," I pressed the END button.

As I walked back to the group Alice was crouched, her teeth bared, a hiss forming in the back of her throat. I turned to see whom she was glaring at and found myself looking at Edward. His face contorted into a malicious sneer. Something happened while I was away.

"Rachel release the barrier," Edward commanded.

The poor girl was standing behind Alice, shaking her head.

"No she will not!" Alice hissed.

"What happened?" I whispered to Tori who was standing there with her hands on her hips, rolling her eyes.

"That girl Rachel can block people's mind from any mental or psychological attacks. She's the counter to Edward's ability. Apparently, Alice had a vision about Bella and Edward only got a glimpse of it because Alice told Rachel to put the shield up. Whatever the vision was it really got both of them on edge," she explained.

I nodded. I was sure that Alice saw Vivian succeeding in turning Bella. Just then, Tori's phone rang.

"Asthe? It's Viv." She was panting.

"Yeah, what happened?"

"I did it," she breathed. I could almost see the smile on her face. Then I heard a scream in the background.

"We're at my cousin's home in Barcelona. We'll be here for a few more days until she turns completely." Viv explained.

"Oh thank you Vivian!" I exclaimed, "You're a life saver." As I said that Edward's head snapped in my direction.

She laughed, "Well thank you. Now, I'm going to text you the address of the house. I assume you want to come get her sometime."

"Yes, you do that. We'll be there as soon as this mess is cleaned up."

With that, we said our goodbyes.

"What the hell is going on?" Edward barked.

"Your princess is fine," I sneered, annoyed with his tone, "well at least by my standards."

"What do you mean?" He frowned and tilted his head to the side.

"She'll be walking again in a few days although I advise you to keep her away from humans because I can't guarantee her control." I rolled my eyes.

Alice relaxed and nodded to Rachel.

Edward began to shake, "She's a vampire?"

I nodded.

"How can you let this happen?" He was outraged.

"Would you rather she was dead?" I retorted.

"She is dead. I never wanted her to become what I am!"

"You mean a monster? News flash, not all of us see this as a curse. You should be thanking me that you can talk to her again." I was getting very irritated.

"Thanking you? For what? Screwing up a poor girl's life? Yeah big fucking thanks to you."

Now I was furious. Just as I opened my mouth to say something, my vision went blood red and I swayed.

"Oh dear God," I heard Allen's voice rise with each word, "get everyone out now!"

The red slowly faded to a bright white, as if a light was shining in my eyes. An outline of a figure appeared in front of me clearing with each second.

"Alphonse." I heard the sound come out but don’t remember moving my lips.

"Ah my dear child, Astheroshe, it has been centuries since I've seen you… since you ended my existence in this world." He was smiling like there was no one else he would rather see.

My hands were trembling. Killing my maker almost cost me my life but it was to kill or be killed.

"How can you still be here?" I asked.

"I still have a soul, you know." His gentle voice was barely above a whisper and it sent chills down my spine.

"But you were a vampire and we have no souls." I objected.

"Of course we do, they're not exactly with us though."

"What do you mean not with us?" this was becoming very strange.

"When humans turn into vampires their souls are bound to the earth or as some call it 'limbo', the space between heaven and hell. When a vampire is killed, his or her soul is sent to heaven for judgment just like any other soul. The angels then decide whether the soul may stay or forever suffer in the deepest bowels of hell." He explained.

"So I assume you went to heaven." I hissed.

His soft airy laugh made me nervous and I glared.

"Yes. I made a deal with God." He replied.

"I don’t even want to know what that deal is." I shook my head.

"But you want to know why I'm here, correct?"

"Yes," I narrowed my eyes.

"Well, my child, it seems there is a problem with the curse I put on you. You have found true love but it seems you found it in two people." He looked up at the sky thoughtfully.

"How is that a problem?" I was puzzled. Having two people in love with me wasn't so bad.

"Each human is assigned to one other to be together for their existence. There are no two loves for one person but since vampires came in the picture, that balance was tilted. You were supposed to stay with Edward and die at the hands of the Volturi, but luck was on your side and now since you are alive and Edward has his pet, God assigned you another love. Little did he know that Edward would remember you and the feeling he had for you."

"Isn't God supposed to know everything?" I raised an eyebrow.

"No, God is just as clueless as any human when it comes to predicting the future. No one knew this would happen and now I'm afraid the dog or the vampire must go." His eyes were full of fake sympathy.

"Let me guess I have to kill one of them?" my face held no emotion.

"Not at all. They must fight to the death for you." He replied.

I closed my eyes and let his words sink in. fight to the death? No, it cannot happen.

"And what if they don’t?" I asked, dreading his answer.

"They, your coven and you die."

"No, no, no," I whispered, "please don’t do this."

"We must restore the balance. It is crucial to the survival of this world."

"What? How will this destroy the world?" I was bewildered.

"There is some ancient prophecy. I don’t know the details." He waved away with his hand.

I was shaking my head back and forth, my eyes burning so I closed them, fighting the tears that would never come.

"I must go now, my child. I will be back soon."

I felt his hand on my cheek and I opened my eyes.

He slowly began to blur and fade until all that was left was the white light. It did not last long and soon my vision, too, faded until all there was is empty nothingness.
