FINAL CHAPTER -- NOW POSTED!!

Notes:
ATTENTION READERS: DO NOT STEAL MY STORIES. Someone has stolen some of my stories from this website and posted them as their own on fanfiction.net. It is plaigarism, it is stealing and it is illegal. Read, enjoy -- but don't steal. This takes place after the last chapter of Eclipse -- before the Epilogue. I originally meant for this to be a oneshot, but it came out much longer than I'd imagined. So I've broken it into chapters. The good news for all of you -- the story is already written, so I will be able to post updates fairly regularly. I just hope you all still post nice reviews -- they will encourage me to post the next chapter! Also, I'd like to say a huge THANKS to addictedtotwilight. I was got about halfway through this story and hit a wall, so to speak. She kindly helped my get past it.

Edward was right, of course. All I wanted to do was to sleep. We’d been up so late the night before talking first to Charlie and then Renée and I’d gotten up early that morning for work … I was truly exhausted. So exhausted that I didn’t protest when Edward tucked his arms behind my back and under my knees and carried me up the stairs to my room. I collapsed on the bed still in my clothes from that day, but I didn’t care. I rolled onto my side, clutching my pillow, closed my eyes and sighed as I felt Edward wrap his chilly arms around me. I didn’t open my eyes as his nose nipped behind my ear and along my neck, pushing my face towards him; nor did I open my eyes when I felt his icy lips pressing hotly against mine – his tongue pressing against them for entry. Without the strength to refuse, I obliged, bending to his will. And then I groaned as I felt my body react the same way it did every time he kissed me.

“Edward, stop,” I said. My body betrayed my words, as my leg wrapped around his hip and my hands tugged on his collar, pulling him closer.

“I thought you liked it when I kissed you,” he said, breathing into my mouth and my neck as he continued kissing me.

I groaned again. “Yes, but I thought we agreed to wait …”

I felt him grin against my mouth and I pushed away from him, eying him critically. He looked at me innocently, but his eyes gave him away. “You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” I said, honestly shocked. “You like being the one with all the control – and you love just making me crazy, don’t you?”

“Bella, really,” he said, but I could still tell he was pleased with himself and with my reaction.

I sighed, frustrated and pushed off the bed. “Stay there,” I ordered him. “I need a human minute.”

“Of course,” he said.

I glowered at him, then stalked across the room to my closet, where my new pajamas hung on a hook. Satin shorts and a matching tank top … the set I’d left in Phoenix. My mother had sent them up to me a few weeks ago, along with all of the other things I’d left behind in Arizona before moving to Forks. She and Phil were clearing out the old house to sell it, since things were going so well in Florida. I snatched up the pajamas, and then glanced over my shoulder at Edward. He was watching me carefully, still far too pleased with himself. But two could play that game. I turned to face him and then began undoing the buttons down the front of my blouse and slid the fabric off my shoulders – my eyes unwavering from Edward’s.

“Um, Bella?” he said, swallowing loudly. “What are you doing?” His eyes flickered from my face to my bra – the only fabric now covering my top half.

“I’m taking a human minute,” I said – deliberately innocent.

“Don’t you usually do that … in the bathroom?”

I shrugged. “You’ll have to see me naked eventually.” I turned away and undid the button on my jeans. I peeked beneath the hem, relieved to find that I’d worn black cotton panties … cotton, still, but at least they weren’t white. Confident once again, I finished unzipping my jeans and slid them off – wiggling my hips in Edward’s general direction.

I meant to spin around to tease him some more, but I felt an icy hand snake around my side and lay flat against my stomach. I gasped from the sudden chill. Edward’s other hand wrapped around my other side, coming to rest across my breast bone. I felt his lips on my neck. “Okay,” he said, breathing into my ear. His arms pulled me more tightly against him. I suddenly felt very nervous and exposed. I was increasingly aware of his body pressing up against my backside and his hands on my naked flesh. “You win,” he said. “I’ll play nice – if you do.” He kissed me again behind the ear and I shivered involuntarily.

I turned in his embrace, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissed his mouth again. “So you don’t have perfect self-control?” I grinned, pleased with his reaction to my little performance. It was nice to have some hold over him, as his was always so overwhelming over me. Even at this moment I was not completely in control, much as I pretended to be.

He rolled his eyes. “Hardly,” he said. “If I hadn’t stopped you now … well, I don’t think I could have been held accountable for my actions. You truly have no idea how much you drive me mad. It’s quite frightening.”

“And I’m only a human,” I said, still smiling.

“Yes, maybe I shouldn’t turn you into a vampire … you’d be much too powerful for your own good. And mine.” But he said it with a grin and kissed me again, so I wasn’t worried.

He released me then and I finished changing into my pajamas. I did excuse myself to the bathroom to brush my teeth, then returned and climbed into bed, where Edward was waiting for me with open arms. As I snuggled against his cold form, he wrapped his arms around me and held me to his chest. Within moments, I was asleep.
