She was hurting, in more ways then one. She hated him for doing this to her. She hated herself for letting him do this to her. So what happens when she sees him again? When Laurent confronts Bella in the meadow, she is rescued just in the nick of time by the werewolves. But what if the werewolves were a second too late?

It was Tuesday morning.
Take a deep breath, Edward. I thought to myself, inhaling deeply.
Today would be the day I finally saw Bella. All last night my mind had gone crazy--I was excited and sad and mad all at the same time. Bella was immortal--I wonder what she looked like now? When I had seen her in the forest, my eyes had been to preoccupied with the fact that she was there, sparkling, to notice details. If she was even more beautiful then she was back then… I collapsed onto my leather couch. ARGGH!! Why did she have to be so god-damned beautiful?!
Also, I couldn’t help but wonder what her reaction would be to me--I wanted so badly to hope that she would take me back! But how could she, after what I had done to her?
I looked in the mirror, straightening my white collar. I was wearing jeans, and a tan sweater over a white button down shirt--the outfit I had worn when I had shown her my meadow… I shivered in pleasure at the memory. I tugged on the sweater until it hung right, and then closed my eyes. I couldn’t keep my emotions in check--they were going wild. First guilt, then excitement, then sadness… I couldn’t deny the fact that I was mostly excited--and I couldn‘t squash down the euphoric feeling that was slowly building inside of me.
“Edward!” Alice called from downstairs. “Time to go!”
I sprinted to the stairs, then slowed down, trying to look nonchalant. I couldn’t let my emotions get the better of me. Bella doesn’t love you anymore--how could she? I told myself firmly.
Oh Edward, cut that crap out, you know you are excited to see her. Alice thought.
Edward--I can feel the happiness radiating off of you from inside the car. Don’t pretend that you aren’t excited. Jasper thought from inside the Volvo.
Oh brother… you sad, pathetic little man. You love her. Admit it… Emmett was also already in the car. Beside him, was Rosalie.
I wonder if she will be as pretty as me? No, she couldn’t possibly… I rolled my eyes at Rosalie’s vain thoughts.
Oh, what the heck. I sprinted down the remaining stairs and jumped in the front seat of the car. “Everybody in?”
I took off down the road, towards Forks High School, and destiny.
The office was warmer then outside. I was surprised at the deja vu feeling that shot through me as I stepped up to the little desk. The office was the same as it was forty years ago. Same orange carpet, white walls, flyers taped to every available surface, and greenery growing out of pots stationed in different corners of the room. Behind the desk, though, sat a younger looking woman, typing furiously onto her computer. Mrs. Eaton, read the nameplate. She looked up as I arrived, and visibly gasped at my inhuman features. I smiled politely.
“H-hello, how can I help you?” She asked, temporarily dazed.
“Hello, my name is Isabella Petrocelli, I am new here. You may have met my brothers and sister yesterday?” I prompted. Petrocelli was Gabriel’s last name, and we kept it.
Mrs. Eaton blinked, and then looked down. Shuffling through some papers, she finally found my stack, and handed me it. “Um, here is your schedule, a map, and a slip you need to get signed by all of your teachers. I hope you enjoy it here in Forks.” She smiled tentatively at me, and I smiled back--heading towards the exit.
I threw away the map as soon as I stepped outside. I knew this place all too well.
Something stronger then butterflies squirmed around inside my stomach as I reviewed my schedule. First period--Calculus.
Mixed emotions swam around my brain, as I headed towards building two. I tried squash down the happiness swelling within me, but I couldn’t deny that I was ecstatic about the possibility of seeing Edward, and being sure that he wasn’t just a mirage. Maybe, now that I was immortal, he would take me back…
No! I told myself firmly. He doesn’t love you anymore. And even if he did, you don’t love him…
Still, I couldn’t stop the excitement as I pushed open the door to first period, and saw spiked black hair poking up from the back row. Alice!
She started when she saw me, and nearly exploded out of her seat. I smiled, and went up to the front desk. The teacher, a balding man in his late forties, blinked twice when he saw me, but then quickly regained his composure. “And you are?”
“Bella Petrocelli.” I said, smiling politely and handing him the slip to be signed. He signed it, and then stood up.
“I am Mr. Parmer. Class--this is Bella Petrocelli.” If I could have blushed, I would have. Due to my inhuman beauty, I got a pretty standard reaction. Guys--gawking, girls--jealousy. At least I didn’t trip on my way to my seat next to Alice.
“Isabella Marie Swan! Where have you been the past forty years?!” She spoke quickly, too softly for human ears.
“Hi Alice. Well, I have been traveling around the world with Frances, Aaron, and Gabriel. You?”
She turned to stare at me. “Who turned you?”
“Laurent.” I answered automatically.
“Laurent? As in the leader of Victoria’s clan?” She gawked. I nodded.
“Six months after you… left.”
Her eyes lit up as I said that, and her face turned apologetic. “I am so sorry. Edward made us. I had no part in it, or I would never have let him leave. He is miserable without you, and so is the rest of the--”
I cut her off. “What?”
“Edward! He has been miserable. He’s tried to kill himself more then once… luckily I have always put an end to that.” Her voice got quiet. “He still loves you, Bella.”
I froze, my head reeling. My dead heart stuttered and “What did you just say?!”
Alice looked at me, questioning. “He loves you. He always has.”
“No.” My answer was automatic. “No he doesn’t. He doesn’t love me. He told me himself. If he loved me, then he would have--”
This time, Alice cut me off. “Wait. Bella. Are you honestly trying to tell me that Edward doesn’t love you?”
She looked at me incredulously, but then shrugged her shoulders. “Your wrong.”
I blinked, the words not seeming to click in my mind. I swiveled back to face Mr. Parmer, my head spinning as I attempted to grasp what Alice was saying. It didn’t make sense. He didn't love me--he told me himself. Besides... No, I would not think that.
Too late. If he did love me, which I refused to believe was true, then why would he leave me?
