I lay there on the cold, hard ground, huddled in a little ball. How many days had it been? Had it been a week yet? I sat up carefully and blinked a few times to clear my head, and then everything came crashing down on me. Edward.
The edges of my already wounded heart started to rip. I looked around wildly, hoping to find him somewhere near. It wasn't a dream.
I heard a soft rustle and whipped my head around. A dark figure stood not too far off. The person was tall, and pale. It inched forward, and all too suddenly I realized that he was a man. With bronze hair.
Much to my disappointment, I noticed it wasn't Edward. He inched forward with a look of frustration clear on his face, and he looked like he was holding himself back.
That's when I saw it. He had pitch black eyes, dark shadows underneath them, pale skin, and apparent beauty. He was a vampire, and he was thirsty. Suddenly, he flung himself at me. I felt a sharp pang in my neck as he bit down hard. He was saying something. I focused on his voice.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry." he kept saying. My consciousness was drifting off, and soon, everything turned black. And then there was fire.
I started thrashing around wildly. The fire was spreading. It kept on getting hotter. I cried out in anguish. I flailed around wildly, desperately looking for something to put out the fire. It was only getting worse. At times, it would stay the same, but then it would flare up. It consumed everything. It wouldn't stop.
I screamed everytime it got larger. How long had it been? It seemed like endless torture. As if on cue, it began to subside. I sighed out in relief. The fire was going away.
I managed to sit up, and saw a huddled figure in the corner. I realized that I was now a full-fledged vampire. The man from earlier walked towards me, clearly tentative. Where was I?
I absorbed my surroundings and it hit me: I was in the Cullens' house. The man put a hand on my shoulder.
"I'm sorry." he said again.
"Its alright." I shrugged, "Accidents happen, right?"
He looked up at me in disbelief.
"Do you know what I've done to you? Do you know what you've become?"
"Yes." I stated simply. He stared at me like I was crazy. And maybe I was.
"So you know you're a vampire?" he asked, flinching away as if I didn't know already.
"I'd rather not talk about it right now." My throat tightened.
He studied me carefully, and the look on his face told me that he would be asking later. Not probing me anymore, he told me to look in the mirror. I raced into Rosalie's room (AN: Hmm...think Rosalie might have a mirror? XD)
I let out a small gasp. Was this me? Shiny, caramel locks of wavy hair fell gracefully onto my shoulders. My cheekbones were more defined, and my nose had shrunk a bit. Instinctively, I touched my face. My lips were fuller, pinker. My eyes were large and brown, with a hint of topaz. I had grown in some places and shrunk in some, creating perfect curves. I didn't think I was as pretty as Rosalie, but I definitely looked better than how I looked when I was human.
~70 years later~
I grinned as Eric and I raced to Forks High. I just couldn't keep away. We had been traveling a lot, but we came back to Forks. After Eric changed me, he insisted that I stayed with him. He was a vegetarian, but that day he lunged at me was a mistake. We found 2 other members to add to our coven.
There was Mary, who was a vegetarian when we met her. Her mate's name was Jason. They were both fun-loving and kind. Mary was always happy, much like Alice. Jason was the quiet, moody types. Eric and I were going to get married in half a year.
We all had powers. Mary was able to talk to animals. Jason could influence the weather with his emotions. Maybe that's why he was moody. So that he could see what happens with the weather. I could turn invisible. It was a nice power, considering all of the times I wished I was invisible as a human.
I say its a coincidence for Eric, though. Because he can read minds.
Edward was never mentioned to any members of the coven. He was a forgotten cause. I felt hope and regret. That was it. I knew that I still loved him, deep down. I had to forget about him. He was in the past now.
We walked into the main office. We were foreign exchange students from 'Australia'. The lady at the front was reading a magazine. She chewed her gum noisily had a 'does it really look like I care' look on her face.
I cleared my throat. She glanced over. Double take. Giggle from Mary. It was usual. She straightened up and looked at us with a newlyfound interest. She handed us a slip to get signed by all of our teachers.
Classes went as usual. I was anxious to get to lunch to see Eric, Mary, and Jason again.
I walked into lunch. I grabbed a roll, apple, and a suspicious looking hamburger. I ran in human speed over to my family. We all sat down and talked.
"Hey do you know there's a group of vampires here?" Eric whispered into my ear.
My breath caught in my throat. Well, my unneeded breath.
"Look! They're over there!" Mary exclaimed excitedly. She was pointing behind me.
I whipped my head and saw 6 pairs of eyes staring intensly at me. Six?
