We reached Denali the next morning. I decided that the not sleeping thing was very useful as I stayed up with Edward all night. When we reached Denali, there was a gathering waiting outside to meet us. They were all especially happy to see me. Apparently, practically all of the females here were in love with Edward at one point, but now they just wanted what was best for him, and they thought that was me. “None of us had ever seen Edward smile before he met you, let alone laugh!” Tanya confided to me after I had said something particularly stupid. “Although the last time he was here, he was particularly moody.” I gave her puzzled look. “It was a few months ago. At the end of September.” I nodded. That was right after he had left me. For some reason, it made me happy that he was miserable. I really am a horrible person.

Introductions took place after my stupid remark. “This is my mate Jonathon. And this is Carol and Aaron, and Lily and Saunders, and Micah.” I noticed that as Tanya introduced Micah to me, she glanced at Edward. He nodded. What in the world was that about?

“Well, I’ll show you all to your rooms. Edward grabbed my hand, and pulled me back to walk beside him. “Stay away from Micah.” He whispered, so quietly that it was almost inaudible to my newly enhanced hearing. I nodded. I didn’t think that would be a problem. Micah made me uncomfortable. He wore his oily black hair slicked back from his face, and his clothes were tight. He was the only unattractive vampire I had ever seen. It was strange, really. The rest of the Denali clan was as beautiful as the Cullen’s. Jonathon looked to be about in his mid thirties. He had dark hair and angular features, which made him look friendly. Tanya looked to be about the same age. She had blonde hair that fell to her waist, and she was round. Not fat at all, she just had curves. Carol and Lily looked exactly the same. I wondered if they were twins. They both had dark blonde hair, cut to shoulder length, and noses that pointed up slightly. I would guess that they were about eighteen. Saunders looked like a Native American. He wore his long black hair in a ponytail, and had sharp, hawk-like features. He was probably the best looking one, he was almost as perfect as Aaron. Aaron was a strange one. He looked about twenty, and I would guess that he was the newest to be changed. His hair was green, and his nose was pierced. He also had the strange violet colored eyes that would suggest blue tinted contacts over red irises.

“I thought that Bella and Edward could have the room next to Aaron and Carol, so the two newest additions to our race can chat.” I was right. He was the newest.

“That’s a good idea, Tanya.” Carlisle told her. “I’m sure Bella would like to talk to some one who knows exactly how she feels.” I looked at Aaron, and he smiled at me. I smiled back, and said “Definitely. We’ll have to talk later.”

Edward and I walked into our room. It was amazing. It had a bed and a bureau and everything, but what really caught my eye was the giant pool of water in the middle of the floor. Edward saw me staring, and told me, “that’s for having fun.” I grinned. I could tell I was going to like it here.
