Chapter 17: Lies

By: Eternitys_Charm

“Liar!” I heard someone roared a few feet from me.

The sound of their yell made my head pulse. I clasped my hands to my ears; my head began to throb.

“That’s a lie!” The same voice roared. His voice echoed in my head violently. I could almost recognize the deep frustrated voice, but with the headache I had it was hard to concentrate.

I groaned and covered my head with my arms. I winced, as I seemed to touch a sensitive spot by my right temple.

“She’s awake.” I heard a small voice whisper with sudden excitement.

“How could she stay unconscious with all this yelling?” A deeper voice answered, his voice had an edge of frustration.

“Aly, sweetheart. Are you all right?” A soft woman’s voice asked full of worry. I felt cold hands touch my face; they felt so good on my throbbing head that I leaned into them.

“Don’t touch her!” I heard the first voice shout with rage. Now that I had gained some of my consciousness back I easily recognized Anthony’s voice, he was the one yelling before, the one that had awakened me.

My mother’s hands flinched at Anthony’s accusation but she continued to stroke my face in gentle circles, caring more about me then Anthony’s rage.

“Get your hands off her!” Anthony boomed again. I heard his feet shuffle as if he wanted to approach her and rip her off me.

“Stop shouting.” I groaned and began to sit up.

Another pair of cold hands stopped my from sitting up, “not so fast, Aly.” Carlisle warned. “You hit your head pretty hard, be careful.” I looked at him, his golden eyes full of worry.

I nodded slowly; it even hurt to do that. I felt confused; I couldn’t remember how I managed to hit my head.

I took a quick glance around the room, everyone’s face was either full of rage, worry, angst, or saddened. “What’s going on?” I asked the room full of people.

No one answered; Anthony just kept glaring at each of them with hatred-filled eyes.

I asked again, louder, “what’s going on?” I began to sat up, slowly as I felt my head throb.

“Nothing, Aly, butt out.” Anthony snarled at me, his jaw clenched and he pinched the bridge of his nose. It looked like he was focusing to stay calm, after that didn’t work; he went back to his angry stance.

“Mom?” I looked towards my mother questioningly. She looked like she was on the verge of tears, her golden eyes full of anguish.

“Shut up! You’re just going to tell her more lies!” Anthony’s yell echoes across the entire house.

It gave me shivers.

“Anthony, please!” My mother begged him, her face crumpling into a face that I thought would be impossible to deny.

Anthony did a good job of doing so, he kept raging on at her. “Shut up! I don’t want to hear you any longer!”

“Son, please…just stop this --,” Our mother began, but once again Anthony interjected her in a nasty way.

“I’m not your son, a real mother wouldn’t have lied like this to her son…I see how you are, mom.” He took in a deep breath; I recognized that, he always did that when he wanted to fight away tears. “You never really cared about dad did you?”

I gasped at Anthony, how could he be accusing our mother of that? “Anthony—” I began, but Anthony continued on as if I hadn’t spoken.

“You never did truly love him, right Bella?” He spat out our mothers’ name.

“I did, Anthony.” My mother replied, her voice cracking, though I could see no tears swelling up in her eyes.

“Oh yeah, it really shows.” Anthony replied sarcastically.

I looked around; everyone in the room was torn. Their faces were full of anguish now, because of what Anthony was accusing my mother of.

“It really shows…” He repeated again, he took in another deep breath; I could tell he really wanted to cry now.

I very much wanted to hug him at that moment, and hold my mother, but I couldn’t do anything. I was powerless in the situation, just like everyone else in the room. I couldn’t do anything.

“Anthony, I loved your father unconditionally…” My mother replied, her knees seeming to be giving up on her.

“Doesn’t seem like it, because everyone at La Push told me you agreed to marry him,” Anthony motioned his head in Edward’s direction, “7 months after my father passed away.”

I couldn’t believe what Anthony had just said; I looked at him in question.

He looked back at me and raised his eyebrow, “yeah…” he clapped his hand, “it’s true Aly, mom decided to marry Edward 7 months after our dad died. What a hypocrite, right?” I looked at my mother, she didn’t look at me, she had her eyes locked on Anthony.

“But—” I began.

“Yeah,” Anthony said, “she told us she waited four years.”

I didn’t know what to say. I just shook my head.

“I loved your father.” My mom responded.

Anthony snorted. “Oh and get this, Aly, remember the three years she sent us away with them?” He said meaning with the other Cullens. “It was so she could become this and be with him.

Silence. No one spoke. No one moved. No one dared to blink at that moment.

The only thing to break the silence was Anthony’s roar of laughter.

He sighed, as if pleased about what he had just done. “Let’s go, Aly.”

“Go where?” I asked, getting up immediately, completely forgetting about my headache.

“La Push.”

“But I haven’t talked to mom, I haven’t heard her side of the story.”

“You would have, but you were unconscious for an hour and missed it all, it was pathetic and neurotic anyway, Aly.” Anthony glared at them all. “Let’s go.”

“Mom?” I called to her. “Edward?” I whispered his name. I felt the tears beginning to form in my eyes. My heart felt like it was breaking apart as I stared at both of them.

They looked back at me with heartbroken eyes. It hurt me even more to look into their eyes, their anguish was as evident as I felt mine.

“Let’s go, Aly.” Anthony yanked my hand and began walking towards the exit without another word to the family.

“I’ll be back mom, I will…wait for me.” I whispered, tears streaming down my face.

The door shut behind Anthony and I, the last glimpse I had of her was her torn face and her body collapsing to the floor.
