Bonus Chapter: Crash

By: Eternitys_Charm

We had managed to lie to them and tell them we would come back in a couple of days, telling them we would go to Seattle for the weekend.

They asked no questions, surprisingly, and didn’t bother to tag anyone along, surprisingly. The plan played out, since our son lived in Seattle with his wife and kids; it was the prefect excuse.

I looked out of into the cloudy day in La Push, finally being able to escape.

I remembered the last time we left out of the area was on our honeymoon, other than that someone always had to be there, just ‘tagging along’. It was incredibly frustrating.

We took the liberty to escape, because my brother Anthony had gone out of town for a couple of days to have some alone time with his wife.

I beamed at John, who sat at the wheel next to me. He turned to me with a wink. “You happy to be going back to your mom?”

“Extremely.” I said with a giggle.

He caressed my face with his fingers, “I’m happy, too. I know how much you’ve missed her, and it’s cruel they haven’t let you see her.” His lips pursed together and his hands tightened on the wheel.

“We’re out now.” I reminded him, sending butterflies in my stomach.

I pulled down the visor and looked at myself in the mirror. How much I had changed in the last 40 years and I knew my mom hadn’t changed a bit since I saw her. How embarrassing.

I didn’t care much for it; I just wanted to see her. I looked at myself again and decided I would put some makeup on to hide a little bit of my wrinkles, but I knew it wouldn’t do it justice; I was 55 and a wrinkled old prune.

“You look beautiful, Aly, ” John told me, noticing what I was doing.

“Sure, sure.” I said rolling my eyes.

We had driven then for a little over two hours, the car needed to fuel up. John pulled out of the highway and began to turn the corner.

Moments later tires screeched, I turned a car was about to side hit us.

“John, watch out!” I yelled. John abruptly tried to turn away, but it was too late, the other car had slammed into us on the left side.

My vision faded then, all I could hear were metal parts bending and ripping and flattened. I was being knocked all around, my head crashing to the window, my arms being thrown around like rag dolls, my body jerking around in the seat.

It all then came to a stop.

I felt warm liquid ooze from all parts of me, mostly my head. My head throbbed and my body pulsed with pain. What happened, where am I? Why am I in so much pain? Minutes later there was a loud noise screaming, it sounded like sirens. Then I could hear people. Do they know where I am — I’m completely lost. I don’t know what happened.

I was gently pulled out of the car and strapped on to a hard board.

I tried to open my eyes but it was all blurred, I could vaguely see red lights flashing everywhere. I noticed something as I was being pulled up; the underside of a car was facing up. Flames erupting from its core like an inferno. I then realized that was our car.

We crashed. Am I dead yet. I don’t think so, but I’m dying, I know I am. Another realization came to me, where is John? Is he all right?

“Ma’am, can you hear me?” Someone yelled close to my ear.

Yes I can, I tried to say but my body would not respond to my orders. My body then went numb; I could feel nothing from head down.

“We’re losing her, she’s lost too much blood and she has many injuries to her head and body.” The same man said with strain in his voice.

My vision left me again, it was dark and everything was growing heavy around me.

Charge me up!” I heard a voice echo, “Clear!”

A shock flew violently on me. I screamed, why did they have to hurt me more?

“She’s not responding, crank it up another hundred jewels.”

Nothing that time, I felt nothing. I was glad; I could finally be left at peace.

All the weight finally collapsed on me and I could feel nothing no more…
