“Bella?” Edward looked at me with unsure eyes. It was late, we were lying in my bed. I was covered with my faded old quilt. Edward was at my side. His arm around my waist, our faces inches apart.

“Yes.” I said, filled with confusion as I stared into his golden eyes.

“Do you still want to spend forever with me?” He sounded uncertain. As if I hadn’t told him a thousand times that I needed him, and that he alone was my life.

“That’s a stupid question.” I took in his expression, still uncertain with unknowing eyes. “I can’t believe that you would even ask me that. I’ve already told you this, but I don‘t mind saying it again…and again if I have too. My mind is made up. I would do anything for you, I love you. You are my forever.”

He still looked hesitant. I didn’t understand what had brought all this on. Why suddenly it seemed he didn’t believe me. Like my love for him had changed over night, and suddenly I would just stop loving him. Not a chance.

“But your sure you want to give up your life now, your human life. Your parents, your friends, your future, everything, to be with me…forever?”

“Yes.” I looked deep in his eyes, trying to make sure that he understood and truly believed everything I was saying. “Without you I am nothing. When you left I couldn’t breathe.” I cringed as the memories I tried so hard to put away forever, came flooding back. “I never want to go back to that. I know what it’s like to be without you and I’ll never be without you again. I’m sorry,” a hint of sarcasm in my voice. “But your stuck with me…forever.

I looked at him carefully, trying to see if this upset him or put him at ease. But thankfully he smiled that gorgeous crooked smile, that always mind my heart erratic. Of course he could hear it, which pleased him, and seemed to erase any last doubts he had. He came closer, putting his ear to my chest.

“Thank you.” he said, while he listened to my heart quiet. “I just…” He withdrew from my chest, searching for the right words. “I want to make sure that you have the best life. That your absolutely sure. That you realize the life you’d be leaving behind, and the life you’d be damning yourself to.”

“I know what I’m choosing.” I said firmly, but still with kindness.

“I’m still against it, and will keep persuading you otherwise.”

“It’ll all just be a wasted effort. I wish you would just give in, it’s going to happen. The sooner you give in the sooner we get past it, and the sooner my forever with you begins.” I put my hand on his cheek, and smiled warily.

He ran his nose along my jaw. My heart quickened, and I tried to concentrate on breathing. His hand was cupping the back of my neck, his fingers twisted lightly in my hair. He pulled my face gently toward his lips. I closed my eyes and took in his exquisite scent. Our lips softly met. I knew I should stop but the electricity between us flew, and before I could stop myself, I threw my entire body into his kiss. My arms wrapped tightly around his neck pulling him even closer. Neither of us pulled away. His fingers left my hair, and ran down my spine, sending shivers through my body. I wanted him even closer, if that was at all possible.

I was having trouble remembering to breathe, but wouldn’t release him. Everything about him was extremely intoxicating and I wanted more. Before I knew it, his lips turn into a hard line, his face became rigid. He pulled away sharply. He grabbed my arms with gentle force, and pressed them against my stomach and pushed me away.

I rolled over to my back, completely breathless, gasping for air. I closed my eyes, relaxed my body, and focused on breathing. My heart calmed and my breathing returned to normal. I finally I opened my eyes, but Edward was not lying next to me. I sat up instantly, searching my dark room for his golden eyes. I found him by my the window, taking in the fresh air.

“I’m sorry.” My voice was just a whisper. I knew that I had gone way to far, and there were absolutely no excuses for my actions.

He didn’t answer me. His nose flared, taking in the night air, trying to lessen my scent.

“I shouldn’t have…” My voice still faint. He put a finger up in the air, and shook his head, stopping me from continuing.

“It wasn’t only you. I didn’t stop you, but unintentionally encouraged you.” His eyes were warm. He smiled, but it didn’t quite touch his eyes. He still sat by the window, trying to calm himself, slowly breathing in and out. “We both are at fault. Me for being so careless, and you for smelling so lovely.” He smiled my crooked smile, his face finally composed.

He came to lie back down next to me. His body lie over the faded quilt. His arm wrapped back around my waist.

I was suddenly very tired. I yawned.

“Sleep.” He commanded. He brushed my hair back and smiled slightly. He started humming my lullaby. His voice so incredibly soothing and enchanting. I felt myself falling into unconsciousness, as he continued to sing.

“I love you, my angel.” I mumbled softly.

“I love you, too. Forever.” He sounded sad. But I was already sleeping before I could even think about how his voice sounded.
