(Edwards POV)

I watched as Victoria dragged my love away. A wicked smile strewed across her hideous face. The anger boiled in the pit of my stomach. It took everything in me to keep completely still, to just simply watch helplessly, as she pulled Bella into the opposite direction. As soon as Victoria was out of sight I would leave to chase after her.

“I love you Bella. I’ll come for you. Don’t worry this isn’t over.” I yelled after Bella, ensuring that she knew I would follow her, that I would bring her home. “I love you!” I yelled one last time. I hoped that she would hold onto those words, that she would take comfort in them and believe them.

I listened to Victoria‘s thoughts to possibly see where she was going. “Silly Edward, this is over. You will never see your precious Bella again.” she gagged as she said her name.

Bella was no longer in my view, but I could still smell her. A ferocious growl escaped my throat, leaving the sound echoing in my ear.

I ran at unbelievable speed to get my car. I was running even faster than usual, the adrenaline that flowed through my blue veins, pushing me to go faster.

There was a sudden screech of tires from behind me.

“Edward.” Alice’s voice filled my head. I whipped around to see her moving over from the drivers seat of a dark blue Audi to the passenger seat. “Hurry!”

In half a second I was in the front seat of the car, accelerating reaching 100mph before we even passed our house.

“The others will be behind shortly.” Alice said.

“Where did this car come from?”

“I borrowed it.”

I didn’t press her about it. It was probably better to have an unmarked car.

“What do you see?”

“I’m not sure. Right now they’re just driving, but I can’t say where. Victoria understands that I can’t see anything until she makes up her mind. So she keeps jumping from thought to thought. I’m not sure if she herself even knows where she’s going yet.” Alice concentrated with her head tilted back and her eyes closed.

I watched as she shuffled through her impenetrable visions. There was nothing indicating Victoria’s plans.

Headlights pulled in back of us.

I looked at Alice. “Emmett, Jasper and Rosalie are in Rosalie‘s car.” She said with her eyes still closed. “Carlisle and Esme are driving his car.”

I sniffed the air trying to find Bella’s scent. I picked it up immediately and followed it. It never seemed to get stronger, but I continued pushing the speed limit. I was driving faster than I ever had, the adrenaline and now the her aroma pushing me to go faster.

“Edward…we’ll catch them, it’s just a matter of time.” Alice’s eyes were watching me. She had such certainty in her black eyes that I wanted so badly to believe her. But I knew that this was too unpredictable for me to trust her words. Anything could happen. She sensed my doubt. “We will get to her. They could drive forever trying to elude us. I wasn’t focused before, I never saw this happening. I was so distracted by hunting. But now,” her voice turned angry and disgusted by the thought of Victoria. Her face cringed and her eyebrows pulled together with hatred. “Every move Victoria decides to make we’ll know about it.” She still looked intently at me. I did take comfort in her words. She was right. Alice would be watching her, so there was no where she could go that we wouldn’t know about. But I still had my doubts.

I simply nodded my head. She understood and turned away, refocusing on her visions.

I drove thinking about Bella. This wasn’t suppose to be like this. Not tonight. I had planned everything in anticipation of that moment when her eyes fell upon that red velvet box. But never did I think that, that’s how she would be seeing it. How I wanted to hold her, to protect her, to wipe away her tears. I hoped she knew that I was coming for her. That I would never just give up like that.

A gust of wind hit me, carrying her scent so strong it was like she was next to me. My eyes searched the road in front of me. The only car ahead was a red BMW 760Li Sedan. Alice’s eyes instantly shot open.

“That’s them. The other one already knows we’re coming. His natural senses are enhanced. But he hasn’t said anything to Victoria yet, he’s just listening.”

“Why hasn’t he said anything?”

“I’m not sure. But,” she stopped, and then continued speaking to me in her mind. “We need to do something quick.”

I worded “Like what?” If he was listening then we needed to be extra careful with the things we said.

“I’m not sure yet, but something quick before he tells her and she does something rash.”

I only had about two seconds to think about this. We were catching up on them fast.

“Smash into them.” Alice said with a smile.
