I opened my mouth to yell at Alice, but she put her hand over my mouth. “Pull up ahead and hit the front of the car. Bella’s in the back seat and Charlie’s in the trunk. Hit them hard enough to make her stop and hard enough to leave her confused, giving us enough time to grab them both.” I looked at her incredulously. She couldn’t be serious? I wasn’t about to put Bella and Charlie’s life in danger like that. “It’ll be ok.”

I shook my head in disapproval. No. I couldn’t do this. I glared at her for even suggesting it. No. I wouldn’t do it. What if something went wrong. What if I ended my angel’s life. If would be worst then biting her. NO! I won’t do it.

My eyes we squinted into to small slits as I glared at her. My eyebrows furrowed together, my mouth almost in a pout, like Bella’s…

Alice interrupted my thoughts. “Look.” she said simply, showing me what would happen if I did this right.

At that moment Bella’s words popped into my head. “…if you turn us into a Volvo pretzel around a tree trunk, you can probably just walk away…”

I tightened my grip on the steering wheel and glared forward. If I was going to do this, then I needed to do it now before I changed my mind.

My cell phone rang. I looked at Alice, and I grabbed it from the pocket of my black blazer. Alice snatched it from my hand and answered it.

“Jasper, don’t say anything, there listening. The other vampire, has extra hearing and can hear everything we’re saying. Tell the others, but that’s it.” She slammed the phone closed and handed it back to me.

I picked up my speed, and now was on the side of their car. Alice and I both looked into the back seat searching for Bella. But the tinted windows didn’t allow any indication of anyone inside. I turned my head back to the road, and started to pull ahead of the car.

I took one last glimpse at Alice. She nodded her head. “Do it. They’ll be fine. It’s the only way.”

I glared at the road ahead, as I pulled about a cars length ahead. The skin around my knuckles tightened as I gripped the steering wheel tighter. NOW! DO IT! I let a growl ring in my ears.

I jerked the car to the right, smashing right into the front headlights of the BMW. They swerved to the opposite direction. I pressed down on the break and stopped directly in front of them. Victoria tried to turn the car, in an attempt of not crashing, but it was no use. She slammed head first into the passenger side of the car. The force from the BMW pushed us further, tires screeched, glass shattered every where. Alice was holding my arm tightly, her head tucked into my shoulder. Her entire side of the car destroyed, the metal pushing into her skin.

We finally came to an abrupt stop.

I pushed the car door open, it went flying into the ground. I got out, pieces of glass crunched beneath my feet. The car had caught fire and it was slowly spreading.

I reached in for Alice, her leg was stuck under some metal from the door. She had pieces of glass stuck in her black hair. I long piece of metal protruded out of her forearm. I reached in and pulled her out. She wiggled her way out from under the metal.

She bent over and shook the glass from her hair. Fragments flying onto the ground. I reached for her arm and held it securely as I pulled the sharp metal from her arm and threw it to the ground.

“Edward go!” she shouted. She was alright, a piece of metal in her arm was like having a small splinter in her finger tip. I knew she felt no pain.

Bella’s scent crashed into me almost knocking the wind completely out of my chest. Her blood was so strong. I ran to the car, the smell only intensifying as I got closer. Her limp body lie in the back seat, surrounded by blood.

My Bella.

I yanked the car door off, sending it crashing into some trees.

There was so much blood. It was all over the broken shards of glass of the shattered window, and all over the leather seats.

“Bella!” I shouted grabbing her lifeless body from the car. The fire had spread and now the BMW had caught fire.

I carried her body towards Carlisle’s car. I gently laid her down on the pavement. I had stopped breathing, so her blood wasn’t so strong, but it still called to me.

‘I love her.’ I reminded myself. ‘I need her.’ I was strong enough to handle this. This was nothing. I could do this.

“CARLISLE!” He hadn’t shown up when I first called for him.

I looked up searching for him. I could see Esme standing yards away crying tearless sobs. The smell was to strong for her to withstand.

Carlisle appeared next to me holding some towels.

“Carlisle the blood!”

Bella’s head was oozing an unbelievable about blood. Pieces of glass imbedded in her scalp. Carlisle put the towels to her head, putting as much pressure on it without hurting her.

“There’s too much blood.” My voice was shaken and panicked. The dead tears streamed down my face. “Please Carlisle save her.”

His face was broken, pained by the sight in front of him.

“Please…” I begged. He had to save her.

“Edward, his voice was saturated with remorse and sorrow. “You have to save her.”

“What?” He couldn’t be serious. I couldn’t save her. I could barely manage the smell of her blood.

“There’s nothing I can do for her. Edward…” he looked at me sternly, placing his hand on my shoulder. “Edward…you have to save her or she’ll die.”

He couldn’t ask me to do that. I couldn’t make this decision, not like this.

“I can’t.” I said weakly. I wouldn’t damn her, but I wouldn’t live without her. “There has to be another way, there has to be something you can do. Anything but that.”

“You have to do this or you’ll lose her forever.”

I wasn’t going to lose her…not forever. My forever included her. In every picture, every aspect of the future she was always suppose to be there.

The seconds ticked by as I contemplated my decision. It shouldn’t be this hard. I had to or I’d lose her. My decision was already made, she already made the choice for me, there was no other choice.

She was lying there dying in my arms. Wouldn’t I save her? Wouldn’t I be her angel?

“Edward…” Carlisle interrupted my thoughts. I looked up to see his face. He knew how hard this was for me, and hated that I had to make this decision. “You have to do it now, she doesn’t have much longer.”

I gently placed my hand on her heart. It was so fragile. It slowly beat, each rhythm becoming slower and softer with each strained breathe she took. She would leave this earth soon unless I did something.

Forever…or Never…
