(Bella’s POV)

It’s those moments you cherish most that seem to fly by. Those moments you wish you could freeze and stay in for just a few more seconds, to prolong that blissful occasion. Those moments where the clock seems to speed up and before you now it, it’s over.

Then there are those moments you wish you could fast forward through. The moments you beg to hurry up and move on. When the long hand on the clock seems to move in slow motion, each movement exaggerated.

Eventually it all passes, leaving you wondering where it all went. Wishing you had all those moments back, even the slow and unexciting ones.

Time is a fickle thing.

This was one of those moments, you wish you could send away and never revisit again. Each movement I made seemed exaggerated, making the burning sensation last that much longer.

My skin felt as though it had melted off my bones, leaving me bare in the scorching desert. The blistering sun beaming down upon my naked body, while the wind whipped past my face, stinging me with each lick.

My throat burned, like I had just swallowed hot coals. My stomach lurched for something unknown. Something that I couldn’t quite understand.

This wasn’t heaven. It would never hurt this much. I wanted the darkness back. The quiet. The cool floor. Edward.

How long have I been here? Why had no one come to save me? Why had they left me in this burning place…alone?

“Please…” I begged knowing no one would hear my cries, but still called out helplessly.

I tried to open my eyes in hopes of seeing something, someone comforting, but when my eyelids would open all I was able to see was red.

The only sounds in this burning hell, was my heart pounding against my ribs, threatening to break loose.

(Edwards POV)

Bella’s screams would haunt me for the rest of eternity.

Was this really better than letting her die in that car crash. I would have followed directly after. But my family. Losing Bella would have destroyed them, but hen to lose me too. Could I make them all suffer for my own selfishness. Now Bella and I would have our forever, and my family would have us both. This was better.

Bella’s heart was no longer quiet. It was pounding like it was going to burst out of her chest. It was beating so fast, going through the transformation of no longer being needed.

I would miss the sound of her heartbeat almost as much as I was going to miss the scent of her blood or the way it quickly rushed to her porcelain cheeks.

Suddenly her heart stopped. I put my hand to her chest searching for her heart. Nothing. I placed my ear against her chest where her heart should be. Nothing. There was no beautiful rhythm beating beneath her breasts.

It was almost over.

I had officially damned my angel.
