Ch. 1 Amnesty

Edward's POV

I saw that she wasn't going to let go. I was about to run away from her, but, if I did, it might kill her, and I couldn't kill my angel.

"Bella, I'm sorry I did that. I want to protect you from my world. But I don't want to be without you." I told her.

"Really? Is that what you're doing? Or are you trying to soften the blow?" Bella asked skeptically, "I want to believe you, but I can't."

"What can I do to make you believe me?" If my angel didn't trust me, what could I do? Bite her?

My thoughts must have shown on my face because she was looking imploring at me.

"I know that Alice is right, Edward. If you want me to believe that you actually love me, then make me immortal."

I hesitated,"When?"

"You'll really do it?"

"Carlisle and Alice will have to be there, too. If you want me to do it."

"Of course I want you to do it!"

Right then my cell phone rang. I looked at the caller ID, it was Alice.

"Edward, I'm so glad you didn't go through with it! Do you want me to call Carlisle or do you want to call him?"

"I'm glad I didn't go through with it also. I'll call Carlisle."

"Alright then, I'll see you soon. Bye!" Alice hung up.

I called Carlisle, he picked up on the second ring.

"Hello Carlisle. Listen, I couldn't leave Bella, but, I need your help changing Bella."

"You are going to change Bella?"

"Yes. Where are you going?"

"Denali, will I see you there?"

"Yes, good-bye."

"Good-bye, Edward," I hung up.

Bella was looking at me questioningly. "Are we going somewhere?"

"We're going to Denali, Alaska."

"What about Charlie?"

"I can only think of one thing, but if you don't like it, I don't know what we'll do."

"Well, what is it?"

"Faking your death." I cringed at the last word, as did she.

"If it means being with you forever, then, alright."

"Then, tomorrow shall we do it?"

"Yeah, I want to at least say good-bye to Charlie. Will I see you tonight?"

"Silly Bella," I tapped her on the nose, "Of course you shall see me tonight."

We walked back to her house. I stopped at the front door.

"I'll let you be alone with Charlie. He'll be here in a few minutes."

"See you."

"Good-bye." I kissed her for a minute, listening to her heart thump hyper-actively. I pulled back and smiled her favorite crooked smile.

I walked back to my car and started it. Bella had already gone inside. I heard Charlie's thoughts coming around the corner. I backed out swiftly and sped away.

My house was empty and dark, I didn't want to go in there, so I parked my car in the desolate garage and ran. Running always cleared my mind. Nobody was close enough that I could hear there thoughts. Then I smelled a mountain lion. Mountain lions didn't come this close to towns. This must be the mountain lion that's been killing all those people. I attacked it, pouncing on it, and draining it.
