Maybe…I’m dreaming. Maybe this was all a dream. And I’d wake up in the hospital with Daniel laying on my legs and the sun rising outside the window.
Maybe…but sadly not. I was shuddering in Daniel’s arms as he ran swiftly through the forest, the wind rushing through his silky brown hair. My own arms were curled around his neck as tightly as they were when he first saved me from the car. We had only been running for maybe ten minutes, but I could tell we had gone a far way.
The strangest thing was…I wasn’t scared for me at all. I was scared for Daniel. I knew he could probably protect himself against the…thing I saw, but I would rather it kill me rather than touch him. With that thought, I opened my eyes and faced Daniel, careful to look only at his face.
“Daniel…” I whispered. I knew he would hear me.
“Jane, don’t worry, ok? Just relax, we’re about to come to my house. I’m so sorry, I should have been able to see it from further away, but I was just so immersed in being in the car with you, and----”
“I love you,” I interrupted him, kissing his neck to stop his rambling. He turned and seemed to be doing something with his nose. It took me a moment to figure out that he was sniffing the air for the other vampire’s scent. He seemed to slow down then, and I looked around.
“It’s gone…it must have fallen behind,” he said softly, his arms loosening only the slightest bit. His slow meant something completely different for me.
We were going through the forest, the trees whipping around us slower than before, but still as fast as if we were in a car or something.
“Wow…how fast can you go?” I found myself asking. I didn’t want to think of what we were running from. I wanted to distract myself.
“Very fast…faster than a car for sure.”
“Like a roller coaster?” He laughed slightly before answering.
“I guess. Do you like roller coasters?”
“I love them,” I smiled.
“Good, because we’re about to go through some emotional ones. We’re home,” he said, nodding forwards. I saw the forest lightening up, crawling outwards and I saw their house sitting peacefully in the middle of their huge yard.
“You can put me down,” I murmured, slightly embarrassed because he was carrying me bridal style.
“Nope,” he winked down at me before taking a deep breath and slowing drastically, until it could be called a normal pace.
“Does it really bug you to go slow?” I laughed, seeing the annoyance in his face.
“It’s almost painful…” he said dramatically. I laughed and stopped abruptly when I saw the door of the big white mansion open. It was like a peaceful castle, something out of a fairy tale. A beauty stood there… just like a classic fairy tale princess. Without really knowing, I knew it was Esme Cullen.
“Um, Edward…I don’t think we really need that at all,” I told him, unable to stop the giggles spurting from my mouth.
“No, seriously, Bella. I’m telling you, we could use this!” He grinned, waving it up and down.
“Ok, put it down, we’re in a mall for goodness’ sakes!” I laughed, fighting to lower his arm.
“But I want to tell the world!” He exclaimed. “This is an amazing discovery!”
“Edward, we do NOT need that,” I tried to glare at him, but I couldn’t.
“Are you sure? Because I really think it could do some really good---”
“Edward!” I pulled it out of his hands and threw it into back onto the shelf.
“And you better not sneak around me and buy it anyway!”
“Fine,” he rolled his eyes, pretending to pout. I leaned up and kissed him on the nose.
“I’ll show you why we don’t need it later,” I whispered seductively and threw him a wink before heading back up the aisle. His arm came to wrap around my middle and he nuzzled his face into my hair.
“Promise?” He said softlly, as he kissed my collarbone.
“Promise,” I smiled. We continued our journey through the new mall that had opened up, scanning the stores that looked interesting to us.
“Oh, maybe we can get some new lampshades,” Edward pointed at the brown and white lamps that sat in the window in some store.
“Ok, now I’m being serious.” I took both of his arms and made him look at me.
“I think you have a serious addiction to spending money.” He laughed. “No love, my only addiction is you…”
“No really! You feel the need to buy things that we really don’t need! You’re just like Alice! Why hadn’t I noticed before?”
“We could really use the things I buy! Besides, we have plenty of money just sitting around, why not use it?”
“You could donate it to charity!” I exclaimed. “We already do,” he smiled down at me.
“Just this year we built two schools and a hospital in Africa.”
“Really?” I asked. He nodded. Wow, I never knew that about my family. “Ok, well… forget the lampshades, we can go to the arcades again. I bet I can beat you in that racecar game again.”
“Alright…we’ll see,” he grinned. He loved that game, even though I knew he kept letting me win.

“Where is that noise coming from?” Edward asked, his nose wrinkling in distaste. I fished out my cell phone from my purse and pulled it out, seeing that it was Alice.
“I really wish Emmett would stop putting these crazy rap ring tones on my phone…” I said, opening the phone.
“Hey Alice,” I said.
“Bella, you and Edward have to come home right now!” She said. For the first time in a long time, her voice sounded distressed. I looked up at Edward and he nodded.
“Ok, we’re on our way, what’s wrong?” “I just had a vision and it’s coming true right now! We have some company to look after…”
“Company? Alice, what kind of company?” Edward asked into the phone.
“Oh, well, from our favorite place under Italy…” she said. I swear my heart almost jumped out of my chest with fear.
