Chapter 6: Change of Plans

Embry’s POV

“Hey Nadalie.” Emy muttered.

“Emily, you look so... young!” Nadalie gasped.

“Um, thanks.” Emy replied.

Nadalie frowned. She stared suspiciously at Emy. Emy needed a distraction and fast. I jumped to my feet and walked over to Nadalie.

“Hey, I’m Embry.” I told her.

“Hello Embry.” She said, completely surprised.

I held out my hand. Nadalie stared at it a moment before timidly shaking it. I watched her eyes widen as she felt how warm I was. The tense silence disappeared as everybody resumed their conversations. Sam asked Nadalie if she wanted anything to eat.

I tried not to stare at Nadalie but found that completely impossible. I simply couldn’t take my eyes off of her. An agonizingly powerful urge to reach out and touch her came over me. I barely managed to restrain myself. Nadalie seemed unaware of my gaze.

Emily’s POV

Being able to read minds let me know that Embry had imprinted. I was happy for him and extremely grateful that he distracted Nadalie. I could tell that she was still suspsisous though. I had to admit that it was good seeing that she was well after all these years.

I groaned. I was starting to get a headache. My throat felt dry and my senses were extra sharp. Every beat of the human’s hearts seemed magnified. I was thirsty. A sighed escaped my lips. I needed to go hunt. I leaned over to whisper in Seth’s ear.

“Hey I’m going to hunt. I’ll meet you back at your house in a few hours.” I said.

“Alright.” He answered.

I kissed him lightly on the cheek then stood up. I said goodbye to everybody and took off. It had been nice meeting them all. They were easy to like.

I hunted only small animals in the forest in order to let myself think. I was so wrapped up in my thoughts that I didn’t realize where I was. My instincts had carried me to the Cullen house.

“Lost are we?” a voice behind me asked.

“Hello Alice.” I said without turning.

“I heard somebody who smelled like vanilla and cinnamon and whose future I couldn’t see. I guessed it was you so I’ve been waiting.” She said, “I wanted to apologize.

I whipped around to face her, “Apologize?”

“Yes,” she replied, “I was just so angry that Jasper loved you! It made me certain you were trying to steal him. It still wasn’t right for me to kick you out though and I’m sorry for that.”

“It’s ok.” I said, “And you don’t have to worry about Jasper and I. I’ve found myself a different guy.”

“Really,” she said, surprised, “Who is it?”

“Seth Clearwater.” I answered, “He’s a wer...”

“A werewolf.” Alice interrupted, “Did he imprint on you?”

“Yah he did.” I said.

“Well congratulations!” she smiled returning to her normal, energetic, and sisterly self, “Would you like to visit the rest of the family for a little bit?”

“I’d love to!” I replied.

Alice grabbed my wrist and pulled me along with her. We entered the house and Alice called for everybody. Within two seconds four more vampires had joined us. Esme, Jasper, Edward, and Bella all smiled at me.

“Emily!!!” Bella squealed.

There was a blur of dark hair and white skin as she flew at me. She squeezed me in a hug that would have crushed the ribs of any human. I grinned and hugged her back. It was good to see her again.

“I’ve missed you Bella.” I smiled.

“Missed you too!” she said, “With Emmett and Rosalie on another honeymoon in Paris, France Alice has had no sisters besides myself to torture!”

I laughed. I knew Bella was just kidding. She and Alice were close sisters. Bella let go and it was Esme’s turn to pull me into a hug.

“It’s good to see you again dear.” She sniffed, “I’ve been so worried about you.”

“You too Esme.” I said.

“How many times do I have to tell you that you can call me mom?” Esme sighed.

“A hundred times already.” I laughed.

“It’s too bad Carlisle’s working later then usual because of a horrible car crash. He’d be so glad to see you again.” She said.

“I wanted to see him too.” I replied, “Could I come back another night?”

“Of course!” Esme said, letting go of me.

Edward put his arm around me. I smiled at him then rolled my eyes. I could see in his thoughts that I was in for some teasing. This should be fun.

“Hey little sis.” He grinned.

It was good to know he still thought of me as his little sister. I’d really missed the vampires that were becoming like brothers to me. I wished that Emmett was here too.

“I’ve missed the vampire who thought her life was a musical.” He snickered.

“So what if I sang ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ every time I saw a rainbow which wasn’t often.” I sighed.

“Don’t forget that you’d run outside all of the time and start singing ‘I’m Singing In the Rain’. I’ll never forget that.” Edward chuckled.

“Shut up.” I grumbled.

“It’s ok,” Edward said, messing up my hair, “We love you like a sister no matter how weird you are.”

“Love you guys too!” I laughed.

I glanced over at Jasper. He was standing rather awkwardly off to the side. When I met his eyes he quickly ducked his head in embarrassment. I realized that after finding my soul mate I just wasn’t in love with him anymore. He was more like Edward and Emmett, a brother. I stepped towards him.

“Siblings?” I asked.

“Definitely.” He agreed.

That was it. We joked and talked like brother and sister after that agreement. An hour later I decided that I’d better get back to Seth’s house. I waved goodbye and promised to comeback in two weeks on Wednesday when Emmett, Rosalie, and Carlisle would all be home. A week from that Wednesday would be the big fight from my vision.

When I got back to Seth’s house his mother told me that he was in his room. I found him fully dressed (wearing a shirt for once) and on top of the covers. He’d fallen asleep waiting for me. I felt kind of bad about that.

I slipped off Seth’s shoes then pulled the covers over him. Turning off the light I dashed back to his sleeping form to lean down and kiss him gently on the cheek. Then I sunk into his love sac to watch him sleep. When he started waking up the next morning I raced out of the room to change clothes.

I leaned up against the wall to wait for him like I had the morning before. Making up my fight with Alice had me in a good mood. Watching Seth sleep had certainly added to that mood. When Seth found me I was singing, just like yesterday. This time I was singing ‘Goin Crazy’ by Ashley Tisdale.

“Somethin' 'bout your style, got me freakin' out (hey boy, hey boy). Gotta make your mind and there ain't no doubt (hey boy, hey boy). You're really laid back and you play it smooth (hey boy, hey boy). I see the way you move from across the room and I know I'm trippin' on you. Boy, I'm feelin' something real and I don't know what to do. So excited, I can't hide it. Got my eyes on you. You got me goin' crazy, wanna be your baby. I don't know what to do, I can't take my eyes off you. You got me goin' crazy. It's just the way you movin'. I really wish you knew, what you do. I can't take my eyes off you. You're so sensational, think you've got it all (hey boy, hey boy). And I like the way you're unpredictable (hey boy, hey boy). Won't you come to me, just like I wished (hey boy, hey boy). 'Cause I never met a guy who made me feel like this. It's a chance that I just can't miss, oh. . Got me losin' my mind.Boy, wish you were mine. Why don't you send me a sign. I been losing my sleep. Think I'm fallin' too deep. Don't know what it is you do to me, what you do to me. You got me goin' crazy, wanna be your baby. I don't know what to do, I can't take my eyes off you. You got me goin' crazy. It's just the way you movin'. I really wish you knew, what you do. I can't take my eyes off you. You got me goin' crazy, wanna be your baby. I don't know what to do, I can't take my eyes off you. You got me goin' crazy. It's just the way you movin'. I really wish you knew, what you do. I can't take my eyes off you.”

Seth laughed and momentarily wrapped his arms around me when I finished. I knew what he was thinking.

“I like to show my emotions through songs.” I answered his unasked question.

“Huh?” he asked.

“I’m a mind reader.” I pointed out.

“Oh yah, I forgot about that.” He said.

“I love singing everything. Edward and Emmett tease me the most about it.” I rolled my eyes.

“I think it’s cute!” Seth told me.

“Thanks.” I smiled at him.

Time seemed to have taken on a dreamlike quality. Seth was the center of my world as seconds became minutes and minutes became hours. Hours soon became days which melted into each other in a blissful haze. Before I knew it two weeks had passed and it was Wednesday. I broke out of the world that contained only Seth and I to go visit my family. I hadn’t realized that it really hadn’t been that long since I was kicked out. It was still good to see them though.

Emmett teased me just like Edward but worse. I finally threatened to turn him into a butterfly. That shut him up. I left at 6:30 p.m. with hugs and promises to come back soon.

As I raced back to LaPush I stumbled right at the forests edge as my sight fogged over. I was having a vision.

It was the same stone room from my last vision. Just like before Aro, Caius, and Marcus sat at a table. It was only two hours into the future. Marcus leaned closer to the other two old vampires. He looked very excited.

“There has been a change of plans.” He whispered, “Everything is extremely ahead of schedule. The army will reach Forks by this time tomorrow.”

The vision faded away and I found myself on the ground. Jumping to my feet I ran straight back to the Cullen. I burst through the door and hollered for everybody to come quickly. They were all there in a flash.

“The newborn vampires are going to be here tomorrow!!!” I screamed hysterically.

“Calm down Emily.” Carlisle said, “Nobody panic, we can still do this. Go alert the werewolves Emily. We have some preparing to do.”
