I was lost in the woods, something that hadn’t happened to me since I was six. The sky overhead was a thunderstorm of turbulent thunder and splitting lightening. I saw Edward standing still, pale and shimmering against the dark skies. I wanted to reach for him, he beckoned to me, and I walked towards him. That’s when I heard the growls behind me, and the wolf Jake leaped out of the woods and charged at Edward. Edward crouched down growling and barring his teeth. They were about to collide, I heard my self scream...

And then I woke up, breathing hard, sweat pouring down my face. I tried to concentrate on something else, besides my dream.

I put my feet on the cold wooden floor and headed to the bathroom. I looked at the clock in the hall as I walked past it. 6:20, Jake would be waking up in 10 minutes.

I stepped into the shower and let the hot water unwind the tension in my shoulders. I was trying to figure out how I was going to be able to see Edward at school, and be able to be around Jake. I really was in a predicament. I was no good a lying and now Jake could smell if I was around Edward.

I leaned my head against the cool tiles. What was I going to do? Normally, I would ask Angela, though I don’t think she would believe me, heck, I would have my self put into a loony bin if I didn’t have long red scratches healing on my arm.

I got out of the shower and started walking back to my room. Jake was just getting up, his shaggy hair over his face.

“Morning, Jake.”

He looked at me and then my arm. “I’m really sorry, Bells. I never wanted to hurt you.”

“I know Jake, don’t worry about it.” I smirked, “though if you do it again you might literally be in the dog house.”

We both laughed and he hugged me. I knew we were okay.

I dressed in a long shirt; I didn’t need any questions about my arm, though I could just say I tripped. My clumsiness made that lie believable. I started my bike and began to drive to school. Angela was waiting for me at the parking lot.

“Hi Bella. Sorry about yesterday. Did you end up okay?” I smiled remembering yesterday.

“Yeah, I ended up hanging with Edward after school.” Angela stopped walking and turned to me.

“Do you mean Edward Cullen, the boy that half the girls drool over, but has never dated nor talked to any of them?”

I just smiled the kind that showed in my eyes.

“Seriously, you have the best luck ever.” She said. Angela I knew, did not like him, so I knew she really was happy for me.

“It’s not that great though, my dad doesn’t want me seeing him.”

“Oh, that sucks.”

“Yeah, but I do get to see him during school.” I said deviously.

We had started walking towards the first building when the silver Volvo turned into its space. Edward and the rest of his family got out and headed to the school also.

Edward noticed me and smiled, waving and walking over to me. Half the school must have noticed, because they all stopped and stared, as Edward leaned down and kissed me on the cheek.

“Good morning.” I said.

“It is now.” He commented.

Angela and I walked to our first period class, accompanied by Edward. I hadn’t been stared at this much since the first day of school.

I kept my sweatshirt in my locker, so that it wouldn’t smell of Edward. School passed in somewhat of a daze. At lunch, Edward and his sister, Alice, to whom we were introduced, sat with us at lunch. His other siblings he said were playing hooky and helping their dad over at the hospital.

Alice talked animatedly the entire time. Even Angela who was usually shy and reserve around others, was contaminated by this little ball of energy that was Alice. I knew that Alice and Edward didn’t eat because they were vampires, so I was wondering what they were doing with full plates of food in front of them.

Randomly I would see Edward turn and glare at other people in the cafeteria, which I couldn’t understand. When he would look back at me, I would give him a questioning look but he would just shake it off.

We walked together to Biology. I was glad that Edward no longer kept his chair on the other side of the table. Now we sat with our elbows almost touching. I was amazed at the difference.

After school we hung at the library for a little bit. I knew he wouldn’t be able to come on the reservation. We were talking about some inane thing or another when suddenly I had to ask him.

“Edward, why was it the first day you met me you sat so far away from me, but now you can sit by my side with no problems.”

“La tua cante. The first day your blood sang to me so much that I believed that I would kill you in front of every student in the cafeteria. I thought you were some demon from my own personal hell.”

“What, the first time we met was in biology.”

“Yes, but I saw you for the first time on your first day of school, in the cafeteria.”

“Oh, but why can you be by me now and not be enticed by my scent.”

“Your scent still draws me in, but you constantly have your brother’s dog smell on you too. The two scents almost cancel each other out, making it easy for me to be around you.”

As he said this he put his hand on my cheek and kissed me lightly on the lips.

The librarian gave us a dirty look, so Edward stood up and pulled me into the many aisles of books.

I was somewhat confused but followed eagerly until we were hidden behind the shelves of books. He turned quickly, putting my back against the volumes of stories.

Before I could protest his lips found mine, and warmth filled my body despite his cold skin. His hands eagerly wrapped around my waist as my own arms curled securely around his neck.

He began to kiss my neck as his hand drifted down my side, running over my thigh. My heart started to race. I wasn’t the only one gasping for breathe though.

“Edward, we can’t make out here.”

“Why not?” he said against my lips, as he continued to kiss me deeply.

“First of all it’s a library, and Second of all, I have to get home before it gets much later, or Billy will get suspicious.”

Edward dejectedly released my waist, and slowly followed me back to our bags at the table.
