I was sleeping in and out of a verity of dreams. Like usual most of them didn’t make sense, just a blur of images and colors. I did let my imagination get a little wild though; I could have sworn I felt cold arms around me and some one’s lips whispering in my ear.

I was slowly surfacing to consciousness, and moaned, not yet wanting to wake up. I jolted awake and almost screamed when I realized that there was really someone holding me in their very cold arms.

“Edward, are you trying to give me a heart attack, or are you trying to get arrested for breaking and entering into the Webber’s house?”

His musical laugh lightly fell upon my ears. “Actually,” he said running his arm over mine, causing me to shiver from something other then the cold. “I was really missing you.”

“I missed you too.” I said, turning in his arms to kiss him good morning. His cold lips pressed against mine for a short sweet kiss.

I realized that Angela was probably still in the room. I looked around and found her asleep on the pillows by the TV. That’s when I noticed that it was still dark out.

“What time is it?” I asked, unable to see the alarm clock on Angela’s dresser clearly.

“About 4:30 AM. Everyone is still asleep. Angela won’t wake up; she is too busy dreaming about some guy with a southern accent.”

I giggled; remember how Angela had said she was in love with Sweet Home Alabama. She hadn’t been joking.

I looked at Edward in the eye though. “How do you know t that?” I asked, completely interested and completely befuddled.

He simply pointed one finger to his head. “I can read minds.”

“What?” I gasped, instantly blushing because of all the things I had thought about Edward, including several fantasies that involved a little bit of chocolate sauce and Christmas lights. (You’ll get that if you’ve seen Christmas in Boston.) “How can you do that?”

“Well, some vampires have extra powers. Alice can see the future, Jasper can control emotions, and I can read minds.”

“You mean to tell me that you have heard everything I’ve thought about.” The red stain on my cheeks becoming permanent, no doubt.

“Actually, yours seems to be the only mind I can’t read.”

I smiled, “Really?” That piece of information had saved me from mortification.

“Yes. I guess it’s kind of like I get AM stations and your mind is on FM.”

“Well, I always knew I was a freak of sorts. Guess Jake was right.”

“I read minds and you are the freak?” he laughed incredulously. “I knew I loved you for a reason.”

“How could you not love me?” I asked him.

“That’s true, between your blushing, clumsiness and sleep talking. I would never get bored.”

“My sleep talking?” I prayed I had heard him wrong. My sleep talking was an old habit I though that I would never have to worry about. He nodded his head in conformation. I grimaced. “What did you hear?”

“Well, I heard my name, something about chocolate sauce and some mumbles that even I couldn’t make out.”

“Oh, okay.” I realized I must have had my fantasies in over drive while I was asleep.

“Though I am curious, what in your dream involved me and chocolate sauce?”

“We were making sundaes.” I said turning to hide any tell tale blush that might appear on my cheeks as a dead give away of my lie. Luckily, they did not show their traitorous faces.

“Edward, it’s still early. Would you mind if I went back to sleep for a little bit?”

“Of course not,” he said, his lips against my neck. “Sweet dreams.” He started to hum softly a sweet tune I had not heard before.

The next thing I knew, Angela was hitting me with a pillow and telling me to get my lazy butt up. I groaned, squinting my eyes against the harsh light that was streaming through the window. I sighed, Edward being here must have been just a dream. What a disappointment. Though the mind reading would explain why he randomly stares down Mike at lunch.

Angela stood over me with a huge fluffy pillow in her hand.

“Bella, if you don’t get up now I am going to starve to death from hunger.”

“Fine, I’m getting up, cease fire on the pillows.”

I threw on my sweatshirt and followed Angela down the wooden stairs to the kitchen. Angela’s dad was standing in the middle of it with a kiss the cook apron on, flipping what I assumed were homemade chocolate pancakes. He served us both two pancakes with smiley faces made up with syrup.

“Thanks Dad.” Angela said, kissing her dad on the cheek.

“Yeah, these look really good Mr. Webber.”

“Your welcome, girls. Now if you can accuse me I have to get the twins to their soccer game. Angela don’t forget that I need you to watch the twins tonight since your mom and I have that business dinner.”

“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll be home by 6. No problem.”

Angela and I finished our pancakes and got dressed. I figured that since we hung at her house last night, that we should hang out at mine today.

It took both of us almost 20 minutes to get my motorcycle into the trunk of Angela’s car. We then got in and we quickly got onto La Push Territory. I directed Angela around the gravel roads and small cottages till we pulled up out front of my house. The light was on in the garage so I knew that Jake was down there. I also knew that the only way Jake was working on the Volkswagen rabbit instead of his homework was if Billy was at the Clearwater’s with Harry.

I lead Angela down the path that led to our garage. I knocked on the door, only to be met with loud cussing from inside. I laughed and walked in.

Jake was sitting up at the edge of the car, rubbing his forehead. He had obviously hit his head on the car. I laughed even harder when I realized that his hands were covered in grease and he was no spreading it all over his face.

Angela was joined me in giggling when she saw Jake sitting on the ground. Jake just stared at me, attempting to look mad, but failing horribly.

He stood up and wiped his hands on his jeans.

“Your home early, Billy didn’t except you until after lunch.”

“I know, but I though I would show Angela around. Oh yeah, Angela, Jake, Jake, Angela.” I said quickly making introductions.

Jake noticed Angela for the first time and I swear his eyes popped out of his head. God, younger brothers are annoying when their checking out your best friend. Angela gave him an awkward half wave and a smile.

“Hi, Jake.”

“Angela, why don’t I show you, the rest of the house?” She agreed and started walking out the door. I turned to Jake. “You can join us if and only if you put on a shirt and if you put your eyes bag into your sockets.”

I hurried after Angela and met her on the path to the back porch.

“Bella, I can’t believe you never mentioned how hot your brother is? And he has six pack abs!”

I knew about the abs, Jake was proud of his new found muscles thanks to being a werewolf. “Sorry, I don’t look at my brother like that.” I told her, nudging her in the side.

“Well, I hope you don’t mind if I do then.”

I showed Angela around the house, which took all of two seconds. I then showed her down to the beach that was just a short walk from the house. The waves were crashing against the shore in rhythm today. The sky was dark with rain, but I knew that it wasn’t going to storm. I could always tell by the ocean when a real storm was coming.

Angela and I sat down on branches of a twisted old log, whitened from the spray of the sea. It wasn’t long before we saw Jake jogging up to us, a loose flannel shirt flung over his body, unbuttoned of course.

“How can you dress like that?” Angela asked him. “It’s freezing out.” Which she so aptly pointed out to both of us by shivering.

“No sense no feeling.” Jake said, sitting down next to Angela. “If you don’t mind, I could get you warmed up real fast.”

“Jake, down boy.” I said giving him a look that said, I know what you’re doing so knock it off.

“What?” He said looking unabashed and innocent. “I was just offering to hold her till she warmed up a bit.”

“Sure, Jake.”

Angela just laughed slightly and gave me a wink before turning back to Jake. “Actually, I wouldn’t mind at all if you warmed me up.”

Jake didn’t need another invitation before he was sitting with Angela almost in his lap, his arms and her.

“Wow, thanks guys. That’s exactly what I wanted to see this morning.”

I might have sounded like I was scorning them, but on the inside I was ecstatic. I had known that Angela and Jake would be perfect together and I now knew that I was right beyond any sense of doubt.

We eventually walked back to the house and hung in the garage as Jake worked on the car. I sat on the stool by the tool bench as Angela lounged in the front seat of the car. Jake kept moving around, working on the engine, attempting to coax it into working.

“I’m thirsty, do you guys want anything from the house while I’m up there?”

“I’ll take a coke if you have it.” Angela said.

“You want anything, Jake?”

“Just water, I guess.”

I nodded my head and turned, walking up to the house. I saw Billy sitting in the dinning room, working on his newest carving.

“Hi, Dad.” I yelled from the refrigerator, looking for some cokes. “I didn’t notice that you were home.”

“Just got back. How was your girl’s night out?”

“Fantastic. Actually Angela and I are in the garage watching Jake work on the Rabbit.”

“Well have fun.”

I agreed and walked back to the garage juggling the two cokes and water in my arms. I opened the door only to see Jake with his arms locked around Angela, her hands entwined in his hair and their lips glued together.

I coughed to let them know I was there. They broke apart embarrassed. “You know, Angela, when I said you had to be nice to Jake, I didn’t mean it quite that literally.”

Angela had to leave before dinner, since she had to watch the twins.

I was happy for two reasons. ONE, I now had something that I could bug Jake about for the rest of his life and TWO; I found a note from Edward in my purse, which was now in my pocket. It had simply read…

My dear Bella, Last night was the best night of my life, simply because I spent it with you. I am counting the seconds till I can be next to you and inhale the Fragrance of my life, my soul and my love. Yours truly, Edward

We made dinner together as a family. Billy had been fishing and brought home a wonderful looking trout. Jake continued to sauté the fish as Billy and I cut up green beans.

Everything was going perfectly, that was until I went to serve the food on the table. A single slip of white paper fluttered to the ground, shattering my perfect lies.
