I awoke to a soft noise. I ran my hand through my hair, letting a yawn escape my lips. I rolled over, expecting to see Edward. But I awoke to an empty space. I closed my eyes, and then shook my head. Only a few days now. I could hear the clutter beneath me, everyone running here and there. The air dripped with excitement. I stared at the walls, wrapping myself with more blankets.

“Awake, are we,” came a familiar voice. I buried my face within the blankets, afraid my smile would give me away.

“Nope.” I tried to fake another yawn, but over did it. In the time it took me to smother another smile, Edward had already soared through the air and was now pinning me onto the bed. I tried to break free of his grasp as he watched, obviously amused.

“You think this is funny!?” He nodded, smiling my favorite crooked smile.

“Well… it’s not. The pressure on my arms may be too much,” I warned, “-and if I bruise, you’ll have Alice to answer to!”

And he would. Alice was running every aspect of our wedding. The list [I had my say though], the decorations, the outfits, the location …. She would go crazy if anything went wrong. Sometimes I wished Edward and I would’ve just gone off to Vegas, but I owed Alice this. After all she’d ever done for me; all she wanted was a little fun. Even though I hated making a big deal out of things, I simply let her have control. I hated ruining her fun.

Suddenly, breaking me from my thoughts, Edward flipped me over. He looked up at me and smiled innocently.

“Better?” he purred. I smirked and nodded, swooping down and locking my lips with his. I felt his arms secure themselves around me as they slowly pulled me closer.

“Yoohoo!” Edward smirked upon my lips, and merely rolled back on top of me.

“Yes, Alice?” Speak of the vampire.

She smiled innocently. Her hair was flipped out in every direction, and she was wearing one of my favorite outfits that she owned. It was a purple turtle neck, khaki skirt, and a nice pair of boots.

“Am I interrupting?” Edward snickered under his breath, though I know Alice didn’t miss it.

“Yes, you are actually.” I elbowed him and shook my head.

“Not at all. Maybe you can get this thing off of me.” He chuckled.

“Are you sure that’s what you really want?” Alice sat down at the edge of the bed, crossing her legs.

“I just wanted to go over a few of the guests I have down. Do you want…” She pulled out a note book and flipped through several pages. “Jessica to be there? Angela? Lauren?” Edward buried his face in the crook of my neck, and I could hear him silently laughing at a joke I probably didn’t know.

I nodded. “Yes, yes, and no.” Lauren had been nothing but horrid to me from my very first day. She hated me instantly, and the feelings were very mutual.

“Does Jessica have to come,” Edward whined.

“Yes, she does. Since Alice,” I shot her a dirty look, “-has to make such a big deal out of this, everyone’s going to know. So I have to. But…” I smiled. “Lauren doesn’t need an invitation.” Alice smiled and nodded. I glanced down at the notebook in her hand and suppressed an irritated laugh. It was bulging, as if it could hold no more. Papers leaked out of the edges, and I raised an eyebrow.

“Alice…” I began to ask a question I probably didn’t want to know. But she just smirked and gracefully swung herself up from the bed.

“Don’t worry Bella; everything is going to be perfect.” Her eyes twinkled.

“I know,” I whined, “-that’s what I’m afraid of!”

“Oh hush!” She snapped at me, and then nearly danced out of the room. I could feel Edward smiling.

“What!?” I sounded irritated, but who could blame me? Over ¾’s of Forks was attending. But my voice didn’t seem to bother him. He pulled away, and in no time at all had dragged me into his.

“You don’t have to do this for her…” I nodded.

“I know, but if I don’t, I’ll feel guilty. She enjoys it too much.” Edward smiled.

“She does. She really appreciates it too. You’d be surprised…” He trailed off slowly. I could tell he had heard all of her plans in her mind, probably every second of the day.

I just smiled. “As long as it makes her happy…” Edward sighed a bit, losing his playfulness.

“Shouldn’t it be about what makes you happy?” I chewed on my bottom lip for a moment, choosing my words carefully before I spoke.

“Yes. And it is. I hate a big fuss, but honestly, I want to do this all the right way. You know that. And if that means wearing big poofy dresses, and watching everyone cry, and overpaying… It’s worth it.”

He smiled, wrapping his arms around me, squeezing gently. “I love you Bella…” He whispered slowly into my ear, sending goose bumps down my arm.

“How do you still manage to do that,” I murmured, shaking my head. “Do what? Dazzle you?” Edward chuckled.

“I’m serious!” I pretended to pout.

“BELLA!!” A voice called for me bellow. I rolled my eyes. Edward began to whine.

“Noooo… stay here…” He pressed his lips against my ear, breathing slowly. “Let me…distract you.” His offer was tempting. Too tempting.

I couldn’t help but smile as I could feel myself already giving in. Emmett suddenly appeared in Edward’s doorway. He snickered as he watched us. Edward groaned a little.

“Yes,” I asked, a bit irritated now. Emmett motioned for us.

“Down stairs. Food’s ready.”

It embarrassed me that the Cullens still went out of their way to buy food and make it, even though it was completely unappetizing to them. I felt my cheeks grow warm and scarlet. Edward chuckled, and then scooped me up into his arms. I was used to it by now, so I just leaned my head against his cold, smooth chest. He whisked me down the stairs and into the kitchen. Immeadiately I felt the tension in the air. Alice was staring angrily at the table.

“Alice? Are you alright?” She glared at Edward, and then shook her head.

“No. No, I am NOT alright!” She jumped up and ran upstairs.

I looked up at Edward bewildered, who was laughing now. I glared. “What’d you do!?”

“Well…she was thinking of nearly thousands of doves could be released after our kiss. And I told her no.”

I sighed, and then shrugged. I wouldn’t lie. I hated the idea of it. I looked at the table, where my plate sat. It had two pancakes, oddly misshapen, with six pieces of bacon scattered around it.

Emmett appeared beside it, looking proud. “Does it look good!?” I nodded slowly, holding back my laughter.

“Well…” I started as an after thought. “It’s no irritable grizzly but…” Emmett roared with laughter, as I glowed with pride.

Edward slowly let me down. “Ahh, what a little joker you are.” I nodded, then sat down and munched on my breakfast. The pancakes were burnt, and the bacon was a little … soft … but all in all, it was a pretty good attempt for a vampire.

Carlisle entered the room, a warm smile on his face. He was always so kind and welcoming. It would be hard to ever hate a man like him. “Good morning, Bella.”

I swallowed the last strip of bacon. “Morning, Carlisle.”

“Charlie called, and said there was an accident in town, and that you may stay over here if you like. He said he left some money tucked under the TV if you needed any.”

I smiled, shaking my head. Charlie, the worried, sweet father. He was too good to me sometimes. I was just glad he and Edward were getting along much better than before… I felt a pang in my chest. In only a few short days, I’d no longer have Charlie. Or Forks, for that matter. I’d be … I swallowed hard. I wanted to be a vampire more than anything. But I would have such a hard time letting everyone go… And Renee…

Edward gave me a curious glance, so I just smiled. “Thank you Carlisle.” I noticed he was pulling on a coat.

“Are you going somewhere,” Edward asked, as if reading my mind. I chuckled at my own silent joke.

Carlisle nodded. “Yes. When there’s work for Charlie, there’s usually work for me. I think it’s best if I go ahead and head on up to the Hospital to see if there’s anything I can help with.” He waved goodbye, then headed out the door.

I yawned, and cast a glance at Edward. He was studying me closely, in silence. He suddenly smiled softly.

“You know what, Bella?”

I shook my head.

“In only a few days…” He grabbed my hand and led me into the sitting room, and pulled me onto the squishy, comfortable couch.

“You will no longer be Isabella Swan.”

I looked at him, confused. Did he really think that becoming a vampire could change me completely? “I know I may be, you know, lusting after blood and all, but you don’t really think I won’t be me, do you!?”

He began to laugh, as I just stared. “What’s so funny,” I demanded.

He grinned. “You, Bella. I didn’t mean that. I meant your name.”

I blinked, trying to let it register. Then I remembered. “Oh, yeah, that.”

Edward chuckled. “Yes, that. You will be Isabella Cullen. My wife, my life, my forever…” His eyes met mine, and I could feel my heart hammering away like an idiot. I knew he could hear, because he began to smirk.

I wished I could shut it up… ‘Oh, wait… never mind. I’ll be permanently shutting it up pretty soon anyways.

My thoughts wandered back to the subject. I still hadn’t given Charlie any clue about… it. In fact, no one did. Charlie was… shocked, to say the least. Renee was very ‘confused’, as she put it. But Charlie had never seen it coming, like she had. I sighed. Poor Charlie. All he wanted was for me to be happy, have a good education, and live a nice, divorce free life. Well, two out of three wasn’t too bad. I would be happy, incredibly actually… And I didn’t plan on divorcing in this decade, or the next. But technically, I would be ending my life soon after my wedding.

“What are you thinking about?” Edward whispered slowly, afraid to interrupt my thoughts.

“Us. Charlie. I don’t know how to tell him… about everything. Or Renee and Phil. I want this more than anything, or else I would wait. But time won’t make it any easier so…”

Edward placed his hand beneath my chin and locked eyes with me. His liquid topaz eyes made me melt. “I love you, even though I am making you make this horrible decision.”

I sighed. “You’re not making me do anything… I want this. I’ll always want this.” I leaned forward and placed my lips upon his cool, marble lips. After a moment, I felt my tongue parting his lips.

He pulled away, now smirking. “Maybe you should save that for our wedding night?” I pouted.

“Fine. I can see that my affection isn’t wanted here. Maybe I’ll find a better place for it…” I escaped his grasp, ignoring the nearly silent laughter. “JASPER!” I called.

Edward’s face suddenly went stone straight… And I couldn’t help but start laughing.

“You believed me!?” He didn’t speak for a moment. “Jasper’s not even home,” I reminded him.

He suddenly had a wry smile on his face. “You…” He jumped up and tackled me. I screamed, falling into fits of laughter.

Suddenly, I heard a ring. I ignored it, having fun with Edward. He began to growl teasingly. “Oh, how terrifying. Please spare me!” I held back a giggle or two.

He licked his lips. “For a price…”

I grinned stupidly. Then another rang came. “Edward, answer that,” I said finally.

He growled and grabbed his phone. “Hello?” Pause. “Yes, hold on.” He held the phone out to me.

I raised an eyebrow. Who could it be? “Hello?” I answered cautiously. It was Charlie.

“Honey!?” His voice was thick with alarm.

“Yeah, dad, I’m here. What’s wrong?”

I heard him sigh. “Oh… good. I was afraid maybe you were… well, never mind.”

“Dad, what’s wrong?”

There was another pause. “Not too much… just a bunch of accidents in town. A bunch of stores have been broken into, and people say there’s … I don’t know, honey. Forget it. Just don’t go into town today, and stay with Edward at his house please.” Then he hung up.

Edward gave me a weird look. “What was that about?”

I shrugged. “Apparently there’s been a bunch of accidents in town… Charlie was just checking up on me.”

Edward nodded. I crawled into his lap [he was on the couch again] and sighed.

“I can’t believe it’s so close… Only…what? Three, four days?”

Edward chuckled. “It’s up to Alice, if she can get the musicians in three, or four days.”

I sighed. I hated that I couldn’t say anything. I did already promise her full control. And she was enjoying herself too much for me to disappoint her. He seemed to know what I saw thinking.

“She really loves you, you know? Love us. As a couple. I’m proud of you for handing over the control.”

“Better be glad I’m even doing this,” I muttered under my breath.

He smirked. “What was that? I think I missed it.”

I batted my eyelashes innocently. “Nothing…” I paused. “Edward?”

He looked down at me. “Hmm?”

I stared at the carpet before speaking again. “Will I ever be able to see them again,” I whispered.

I felt him straighten up immediately. “Bella… you realize you still don’t have to do this. You still have so many options…”

He was struggling though. Recently, I could tell he was growing fond of the idea I’d soon be like him. That he wouldn’t have to control himself, or worry as much. But I knew he meant what he said as well.

“No. This is what I want… But won’t they start to worry? If…” I took a deep breath. “When…” I corrected myself. “When we leave, and claim it’s for college… They’ll want to visit, or expect one. What can I do? Oh yeah, I can see it now. Hey mom, dad, Phil. You see how I haven’t aged at all? Well, there’s a pretty good explanation for that…”

Edward gently reached for my hand, and gently placed a soft kiss on each fingertip. “That decision is up to you. However you plan to deal with it…”

But I knew telling the truth was out of the question. There’d have to be a pretty good reason to tell. And I knew there would never be a good enough reason. But that didn’t mean it hurt any less, to keep lying. “I could fake my own death…” I started.

Edward shook his head. “I don’t believe you could do that.”

“Couldn’t I though?” Our eyes locked. I was first to look away. I sighed after a moment of silence. “I think I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.” But would I truly ever know how to say goodbye? This was not second guessing though. It was just…

Carlisle walked into the room. Edward gave him an odd look. No doubt, they were speaking through thoughts… Soon Jasper joined [he walked in through the front door], and everyone was gathered in the room. They all cast each other looks, speaking in their heads.

“Excuse me, but I can’t read minds!”

Alice sat down, and slowly widened her eyes. “They want to be there.”

Everyone in the room looked angry. But no one matched Edward. He growled.

“Why can’t they mind their own damn business!?” Edward nearly screamed.

Carlisle sighed. “We all knew this might happen.”

“What? What happened!?” No one said anything to me. Alice sat down beside me and patted my back. Fear crept into me.

“Why won’t anyone answer me!?” Just as I was beginning to panic… I felt a sense of… relief. Like I knew it would be okay… Damn Jasper.

Carlisle sighed. “Bella… It’s them.”

I looked around at the faces I’d come to love. “Them? Who’s them?” I was so confused, so dazed.

Edward wrapped his arms around me… But it wasn’t in a completely loving way. It was in a protective way. Then he growled two words. “The Volturi.”
