1. Looking Back

Rating 4.5/5   Word Count 1155   Review this Chapter

And do you ever feel like you're alone?

And do you ever wish you'd be unknown?

I could say that I have…

I could say that I have…

And do you ever feel things here aren't right?

And do you ever feel the time slip by?

I can say that I have…

And I can say that I have…

So hear this please

And watch as your heart speeds up endlessly

And look for the stars as the sun goes down

Each breath that you take has a thunderous sound

Everything, everything's magic

Just sit back and hold on, but hold on tight

Prepare for the best and the fastest ride

And reach out your hand, and I’ll make you mine

Everything, everything's magic

And do you ever lay awake at night?

And do you ever tell yourself don't try?

Don't try to let yourself down

Don't try to let yourself down

And do you ever see yourself in love?

And do you ever take a chance, my love?

Because you know that I will…

Because you know that I will…

So hear this please

And watch as your hearts speeds up endlessly

And look for the stars as the sun goes down

Each breath that you take has a thunderous sound

Everything, everything's magic

Just sit back and hold on, but hold on tight

Prepare for the best and the fastest ride

And reach out your hand, and I’ll make you mine

Everything, everything's magic

Everything, everything's magic

So hear this please

And watch as your hearts speeds up endlessly

And look for the stars as the sun goes down

Each breath that you take has a thunderous sound

Everything, everything's magic

Just sit back and hold on, but hold on tight

Prepare for the best and the fastest ride

And reach out your hand, and I’ll make you mine

Everything, everything's magic

The audience cheered as I played the final chords and sang the last lines. I looked back at my band and knew we did good. I looked at our audience and screamed into the mike, “Are you ready for this? Are you ready to hear our new song?” They all screamed with excitement. I played the first chords and they flipped out. I began to sing

And when it rains,” they all pulled out lighters and started singing along. How could I possibly be good enough to have fans this awesome? I went through the rest of the song, singing my heart out.

On this side of town it touches, everything.
Just say it again and mean it.
We don't miss a thing.
You made yourself a bed
at the bottom of the blackest hole
and convinced yourself that
it’s not the reason you don't see the sun anymore

and oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming.
Oh, oh, I need the ending.
So why can't you stay
just long enough to explain?

And when it rains,
Will you always find an escape?
Just running away,
from all of the ones who love you,
from everything.
You made yourself a bed
At the bottom of the blackest hole
And you'll sleep 'til May
And you'll say that you don't want to see the sun anymore

And oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming.
And oh, oh, I need the ending.
So why can't you stay just long enough to explain?

Take your time.
Take my time.

Take these chances to turn it around.

Take these chances, we'll make it somehow
And take these chances to turn it around.
Just turn it around.

Oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming.
Oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming.
Oh, oh, how could you do it?
Oh I, I never saw it coming.
Oh, oh I need an ending.
So why can't you stay
Just long enough to explain?

You can take your time, take my time.”

“Thank you Seattle! We’ll be rockin’ Olympia next so be sure to catch that!”, I walked off stage with that last comment. I knew that we had our record deal in the bag. I saw the record producer and smiled at him. He was very cute. In a weird, preppy way.

“You guys were great. Call me tomorrow and we will set up a meeting to talk about our record deal.”, he mumbled. Ugh, I hate mumblers, I thought to myself. I smiled at the thought remembering when I used to be a mumbler. “Thanks Mr. Duvall. We really appreciate the chance.” He smiled and walked away. Typical music producer.

I walked over to my band and grinned. I did a freakin’ awesome power slide and screamed, “Who’s ready to get a record deal??” They started jumping up and down. Zac lifted me off the ground and pulled me into a huge kiss. “Ew Zac! Keep your lips away from my girlfriend!”, he exclaimed laughing. I looked at the direction the voice came from and laughed. He was such a joker.

Saying he’s my boyfriend was exaggerating. He was my best friend that posed to be my boyfriend so guys would leave me alone. I hated guys always hitting on me. I didn’t like any of them because they only wanted one thing. Zac put me down but grabbed my hand as we walked over to Josh.

I pulled my hand out of his and stuck my pierced tongue out. He laughed and walked away. I ran out of the building and to my car. I had to get out of there. I knew I couldn’t take the spot light for much longer. I drove for about 8 hours before I finally stopped outside a house.

I looked at the house I had stopped in front of in shock and disgust. I had hoped never to come back here. I hated this little town I grew up in. I hated the people in it. I especially hated all those boys from LaPush. My eyes were burning with suppressed tears. I thought about everything that had happened in that house.

I thought of my mom and dad. My mom had died when I was 15. The cops said it was a fatal car crash but some how I knew that wasn’t really what it was. I tried to find out what really happened. I broke into the police station (not the wisest thing I ever did), hoping to find some kind of information.

My dad had gotten remarried 2 months after my mom died. My step-mom was a complete … well you know. He had stopped caring about me by the time I was 16. So on my 17th birthday I got in my car and drove away. I never came or looked back.

I woke up with sunlight streaming through the windows. I was going to pay for it if I didn’t get out of here soon. I put my car in reverse and drove. I rounded the corner too quickly and hit a tree. I wasn’t hurt but I couldn’t move. I was screaming for help when I saw it. It was the biggest wolf I had ever seen, running right at me.
