(Victoria’s POV)

They were coming…I could smell it.

James and I were positioned a couple miles away from the airport, ready to jump as soon as they rounded the corner. I smiled at him reassuringly, and then turned back to the street. They were almost here.

Sure enough, a few minutes later a silver car emerged from behind the shrubbery, and James tensed.

The black-haired female, Alice, it think, widened her eyes and slammed on the break as she sniffed the air. She was on our scent. I grabbed James by the hand and led him out into the street. Edward went wild.

“WHAT ON EARTH DID YOU DO WITH BELLA????” He thundered, leaping out of the car and flying towards us. He tackled James to the ground, pinning his arms in second. I was about to run to his defense, but his brothers did it for me.

James, dusting himself off, smirked. “Your little pet human is rotting away at a ballet studio…Take a look for yourself.” He tossed the VCR that he had been so stubborn in keeping towards Edward and looked at me. “Let’s go.”

(Bella’s POV)

I rounded the street corner, searching for the airport. It had been a while since I’d been here and I wasn’t so sure where everything was anymore.

“Ahah…here it is!” I said to no one in particular as I sprinted across the parking lot. Where could Edward be?? I sensed the jumble of emotions around me as I stormed through the double doors and did my block it out.

People began to make way for me as I barreled through the crowds, searching for Edward. I scanned the flight takeoff board and searched for one from Forks, Washington.

But their was nothing.

Heading back towards the door, I was hit with a sudden realization. Edward had a cell phone.

Carefully setting the human Bella on a bench, I pulled a tiny silver phone from my pocket (which I got a couple weeks ago and had not yet mastered the arts of the tiny buttons) and fumbled to press the numbers. I hit send.

“Hello?” I heard Carlisle’s voice on the other line.

“CARLISLE!!” I nearly shouted.

“Bella? Is that you? How??” He said, his voice coated in relief.

“I’m not dead…where are you??” I asked. Was Edward there? I heard muffled voices as Carlisle spoke to his family.

“Bella—Edward left—we thought you were dead!” He said.

Uh oh. I immediately thought back to the Volturi…

“He didn’t…” I said, hoping and praying that he was only kidding.

“Apparently Alice said he’s going to Italy…something about the Volturi…” He said, and I froze.

“Shoot—STOP HIM!!” I yelled, dropping the phone in my bag and scooping up the unconscious Bella.

I was going to Italy.
