(Edwards POV)

This must be a hallucination.

A really good hallucination, yes, but still fake. I must not believe my eyes. Or else I might hope…

And that would kill me.

Before me stood my Bella, and she was undoubtedly a vampire. Her skin was sparkling like a thousand tiny crystals, and her eyes, a sea foam green color, were lined with purple, bruise-like shadows.

And she was beautiful.

Not that she wasn’t before, but now…now, she was ethereal. Heavenly. Her long brown hair was shorter and shinier, and her perfectly white, straight teeth gleamed in the sunlight. She was a gorgeous goddess--my gorgeous goddess.

And all I could do was stare.

She looked at me apprehensively, gauging my reaction. As a long, immeasurable moment passed, her smile slowly faded until it was just worried, apprehensive.

“Bella…?” I croaked out, my throat rough from not being used.

“Edward.” She said simply, a look crossing her face of worry and anxiety. She looked as if she had news but wasn’t sure if she should share it.

Another long moment passed as she debated with herself. Finally, she spoke. “Edward. I have a lot of explaining to do. I--I, I am from the future.”

Hahah. That’s funny. She said she was from the future.

Yeah right.

But she continued, staring at my nonchalant expression with worry plastered across her face. “Let me start from the beginning. I didn’t die, okay? I’m still alive, still breathing. My human form, I mean. My past. You saved me, I lived. Then, life went on, a lot of time passed, and Victoria, James’ mate, came back. She came back to kill me, a mate for a mate, and so on. So she took me, but instead of killing me, she invented a time machine. A time machine that would allow her to go back in time to now and kill me and save James. A time machine that would allow her to get her revenge. And so now we need to go back to your family, back to me, and back to the time machine to set things straight.”

Wow. I must have a wild imagination--how in the world did I summon this far-fetched hallucination. Surely it can’t be true? But I nodded anyways, and Bella grabbed me by the hand and pulled me to my feet. Then she started running.

(Bella’s POV)

Oh gosh--he didn’t believe me. But we needed to get a move on here--or else Victoria would stir some real trouble…

I pulled a still-dazed Edward to his feet and started running, following the path to the airport. When we got their, it took quite a bit of smiling and flirting on Edward’s part to get us a ticket and to the gate. I watched, jealous, until we got on board.

The entire plane ride neither of us said a word. Edward took my hands in his and stared at me the entire way, probably still marveling that I was alive. I stared back at him, marveling at the resemblance between him and the futuristic Edward. They were identical.

As we got off the plane and into the gate, we were met by a group of curious and upset vampires, and one extremely puzzled human. I sighed--this was going to take a while…
