I frowned and then lifted the mirror to see my fate.

There were bandages all over my body. I couldn’t see the cuts but I knew that they were still there. I would be scarred for life. Just then a doctor came into the room.

“Ah. Miss Swan, its good to see you awake. How are you feeling?” He said coming towards the bed.

“I, I feel alright. Who are you?” In truth I felt horrible, all I wanted now was to forget this mess I was in.

“I am Dr. Adrian North. I’m one of you doctors.” He then turned to our audience. “Could you please give Miss Swan and I some privacy? I need to discuss the situation with her.” They all complied and left the room.

“That bad huh?” I muttered under my breath. He chuckled but otherwise ignored my comment.

“So do you want to hear the good news or the bad news first?” He asked me. I personally didn’t want to hear any news but I would have to hear it eventually. I sighed.

“I’ll take the bad news first.” I told him.

“Alright. Well the bad news is that you will have some permanent scarring. We can give you some cream to help them heal better and faster but the only way to get rid of them is Plastic Surgery.” He paused. “The good news is that you should be released very soon as long as you promise to stay well rested and take it easy for a while.”

“I’m going to need some time to think about all of this before I make any decisions.” I swallowed, trying not to cry.

“Of course Miss Swan.” Dr.North nodded before leaving the room.

“Bells will you be alright if I go fishing with Billy today?” Charlie asked me, not wanting to leave me alone all day. I had gotten back from the hospital yesterday and Charlie hadn’t left my side, until Billy had called this morning. Billy had suggested that Charlie give me a little space to relax.

“Have fun.” I said sleepily from the couch. “Tell Billy I say hi.”

“Sure thing Bells.” Charlie said as he walked out the door. I closed my eyes waiting for sleep to overcome me. It didn’t. As tired as I was sleep wouldn’t come. Just then my stomach growled, forcing me to open my eyes. I slowly got up, wincing in pain as all of my cuts were strained, and headed for the kitchen. I had just finished making sandwiches when the doorbell rang. It was Jake.

“Hey Jake, what you up to?” I said opening the door wider so he could come in.

“Just came to see how you are.” He cringed when he saw I was covered in bandages.

“I’m good, I’ll get some of these off soon if I’m lucky.” I attempted a smile but it turned into a grimace instead.

“Bells, you are not good. You are the opposite of good. Here let me carry you.” He said. He ignored my refusals and picked me up, carrying me to the kitchen before setting me down at the table. “Eat.” he served me my previously made lunch.

“Thanks Jake. You know I really don’t need all of this. I’m fine on my own.” I didn’t want him helping me because he felt guilty.

“I care about you Bells and I’ll help you as long as I want to whether you like it or not.” He joked, but deep down I could tell he was serious. And that’s how lunch went. Jake talked while I ate. Eventually he had to go, promising that he would come back soon. Jake carried me upstairs to my bed and lay me down before he left.

Being injured was really cutting into my life. My injuries had never been this great. The worst injury I’d had before this was when James attacked me in the ballet studio. Edward was there to save me back then. I pushed that thought away and thought instead of all the cleaning I could be doing right now. But sleep couldn’t escape me forever. As I closed my eyes my pain lifted, numbed by what must have been an icepack.
