8. Tears Fall

I see my hand at my side.

And it is clenched tightly.

I see my attacker hesitate.

And she is paling momentarily.

Ah, but my passion,

I can control.

It’s my eyes, my tears,

That bother.

They scare away my attacker,

Instead turning them into a friend.

But I say no!

Shoving away the thought that I have lost control.

They slide off my cheek,

Burning, as they would to mock me.

Burning... But I know no other offense.

And so I sigh and give up.

But one day, however far, one day I will fight.

And there will be no more tears.
