Broken Souls

Chapter 8: "They should make cheese flavored blood,” Emmett commented randomly. This is the sequel to Broken Love!!! There's something stranged happening to Nadalie. It's something both Alice and Emily saw coming but hoped it would never come true. Now everybody's in danger from Nadalie, not just the vampires.

So here it is, the sequel! As you all probably know I do not own most of the character, the places, etc.. It all belongs to Stephenie Meyers! I do however own Nadalie, Emily Adeline (soon to be Emily Clearwater), and a few of the werewolf's imprints.

Chapter 5: The Vampire Slayer Within

Bella’s POV

I felt a pair of arms wrap around me in a familiar embrace. Edward kissed the top of my head before letting go of me, keeping only my hand in his. He sat down in the chair next to me, his eyes searching my face. I saw the question in his mind but waited for him to say it out loud.

“What’s wrong love?” he asked.

“I was just thinking...” I began.

“Uh-oh. You were thinking. You know how that usually turns out.” He teased, faking fear.

“Shut up! You’re hurting my feelings!” I cried, playing along.

“Bella Cullen, my hearts desire, the love of my life,” Edward said quietly, “will you ever forgive me?”

“I don’t know,” I pretended to think about it, “it’s going to take some time.”

“Would this help?” he growled playfully and leaned in to kiss me.

“Maybe...” I mumbled against his lip, “Wait a moment.”

I could feel him frown as he pulled away.

“I need to tell you before I forget.” I said, “Do you know what today is?”

“Um, February 20. What does that have to do with anything?” he asked looking confused.

“I thought that you were the smart one my dear Edward.” I sighed, “We should be in Forks to help Emily and Seth. Today’s the day that the vision she and Alice had will come true! I just remembered. Apparently everyone else forgot about it.”

“You’re right,” he said, “how could we have forgotten?”

He was halfway out of his chair on his way to tell the others when he froze. He was staring at me suspiciously. Edward sat back down.

“There’s something else wrong isn’t there?” he said.

“It’s nothing really.” I sighed.

“Bella you know that you’re a bad liar,” he pointed out.

“Oh alright,” I mumbled, “I’m just worried about seeing... Jacob.”

Edward growled too softly for human ears to hear.

“I jus hope he’s imprinted by now. I don’t think I could stand to see the pain in his eyes every time he sees me.” I whispered.

Edward pulled me to his chest and stroked my hair in a comforting way.

“I love you Bella.”

Emily’s POV

Seth read the newspaper as I bounced Noelani in my lap, telling her funny stories. Seth, Noelani, and I had the house to ourselves for once. Dinner was long over. Jared had gone out with Kim and Jacob was still in California. He was coming home tomorrow and bringing the girl he’d finally imprinted on. She’d just turned eighteen and was moving out of her parents’ house to come live down in LaPush.

“Mommy,” Noelani suddenly whimpered.

“What is it baby?” I asked.

“Something’s comin’ mommy. It scare me,” she moaned, “it’s goin’ ta hurt you momma and daddy.”

I felt a horrifying jolt of realization as I glanced at Seth’s newspaper and saw the all to familiar date. We had to get out of her. I pulled the newspaper out of Seth’s hands and handed him Noelani.

“Seth take Noelani and get out of here!” I yelled.

“Why?” he asked, startled.

“It’s Nadalie! Now go, I’ll hold her off.” I cried.

“I’m not leaving you.” He growled and put Noelani in her little swing as she started to cry.

Noelani’s warning and the fact that Seth and I knew what to expect was changing the vision. Nadalie stumbled through the unlocked front door. She was sobbing uncontrollably. She screamed an apology then began to change.

Nadalie’s eyes turned white. Her teeth shrunk and sharpened as a wicked smile spread across her face. She crouched low looking absolutely terrifying and dangerous. This new Nadalie was deadly. She shot toward me with an impossible speed. I felt like I was the prey and she the predator. My feet were knocked out from under me before I could so much as twitch.

Before I could recover something sharp dug into my arm. Nadalie was biting me. I began to frantically beat her in an attempt to get her off me with no success. She only growled softly in response as she sucked hungrily at my arm. I screamed.

Seth leapt over the couch and onto Nadalie as Noelani bawled in the background. Nadalie turned to Seth and snapped at him too. She caught his shoulder in her mouth before I managed to throw a good punch. Seth flung her through the door. Wood flew everywhere as Nadalie sailed right through it and into a nearby tree. She howled in agony as her eyes changed back to their normal color and the fierceness left her. She got to her feet and ran into the forest at human speed.

I clutched the couch for support as the world suddenly tipped. Seth examined the wound on my arm, his had already healed. He bandaged me up and hugged me tightly. I kissed him fiercely until he was panting for breath.

“I love you Seth.” I began to sob. Tears splashed down my cheeks.

“I love you to Emily. I thought...” he didn’t finish but squeezed me tighter.

“Mom? Daddy?” we both turned to find Noelani bouncing in her swing.

“Look at me!” she giggled.

“Oh, Noelani sweetheart!” I took a step towards my baby girl and blacked out.

Jasper’s POV

I could sense the panic as we neared the Clearwater home. I shot a worried look at Alice and she squeezed my hand reassuringly. The house came into view and I heard Bella asp. There was a huge gaping hole where the front door used to be. We were too late and something had gone seriously wrong.

“Emily? Seth?” Emmett called as he bounded through the hole first.

“Daddy it’s uncle Emmett!” a little voice squealed. “He’s going to help mommy right?”

Emily’s POV

“She’ll open her eyes in about 32 seconds.” Alice’s voice sounded strangely loud and close.

I groaned softly. My head throbbed with a massive headache. It was a struggle to lift my eyelids but I finally did it. Sunlight was streaming through the windows for the first time this year. The Cullens and I sparkled like a thousand crystals. I quickly switched on my power so that I didn’t glitter blindingly then looked around and sat up.

Besides the Cullens there was Sam, Quil, Jared, Brady, Collin, Paul, and crying silently in the corner was Embry. They were all looking anxiously at me as I rubbed my temples with another groan. Seth was the first to speak as he sat next to me on the bed.

“Hey baby, feeling better?” he asked.

“No,” I moaned, “I feel like I’ve been beat over the head with six tons of solid brick.”

He kissed my forehead, frowning. I smiled up at him weakly.

“What’s up with Nadalie?” I asked, “I thought she was a vampire slayer but she was trying to drink Seth’s soul too!”

“Well I’m sorry to say that Nadalie is much worse then a regular vampire slayer,” Carlisle said, “She’s gone past that stage and become a soul sucker. They start out as vampire slayers but as soon as they get so much as a taste of vampire soul they want any soul. Wither it be vampire, human, or werewolf she’ll want it.”

“So how do you get rid of a soul sucker?” Sam asked.

“Same way you get rid of a vampire slayer,” Carlisle replied, “you drain them of blood.”

“Does it kill them for good?” Quil wondered.

Embry uttered a soft, pained cry from his corner.

“No,” Carlisle assured us, “It simply changes them human again. Their blood comes back pure and free of a soul sucker’s evil.”

Embry sighed with relief. There was a short silence as everyone took this information in. Paul was the one to break it this time.

“I’ll have Alecia start making lunch. She and Kim are watching Noelani and Clair in the living room,” he said.

“What! It’s lunch time already?” I gasped.

“Yah, you were out for a while,” Brady said.

“Come on, let’s give Seth and Emy a little privacy,” Rosalie snapped as she began ushering everybody out of the room.

I sighed and leaned against Seth’s body. He wrapped his arms around me and rested his chin on my head. I closed my eyes and felt calmed by Seth’s werewolf heat. Mmmmm... so cozy. I opened my eyes and turned my head to capture his lips with my own in a gentle kiss. Suddenly the door banged open causing us to jump apart.

“Oops, my bad,” Jacob said in a way that clearly showed he’d meant to interrupt us.

“Jake, you’re back!” I squealed, “And I’m so going to kill you.”

I leapt to my feet and noticed the girl giggling at his side.

“Hey you must be Kara,” I said, “just call me Emy.”

“Nice to meet you.” She smiled.

“It’s good to meet you too,” I said kindly. Then I turned to glare viciously at Jacob and look as terrifyingly vampire as I could. He merely laughed.

“Want to take this outside?” he asked.

“You know I’ll beat you.” I rolled my eyes.

“Wanna bet?”

“You’re so on!”

We rushed outside and began to fight. I was about to win when my knees collapsed from under me. I began shaking as I gasped loudly. Pain shot through my body. My head throbbed again and I moaned.

“Emy what happened?” Jacob cried frantically.

“Probably just a side affect of losing a piece of my soul,” I groaned.

“What?” he asked.

So I explained everything he’d missed while in California. When I finished his mouth was hanging wide open.

“Wow,” he said.

“Yeah,” I agreed.
