Broken Souls

Summary:
Chapter 8: "They should make cheese flavored blood,” Emmett commented randomly. This is the sequel to Broken Love!!! There's something stranged happening to Nadalie. It's something both Alice and Emily saw coming but hoped it would never come true. Now everybody's in danger from Nadalie, not just the vampires.

Notes:
So here it is, the sequel! As you all probably know I do not own most of the character, the places, etc.. It all belongs to Stephenie Meyers! I do however own Nadalie, Emily Adeline (soon to be Emily Clearwater), and a few of the werewolf's imprints.

Chapter 7: Time To Act

“Hm… Salt and Vinegar or Original?” I asked Seth as I held up two bags of chips.

“Both of course!” he exclaimed.

I sighed and chucked both bags into the cart. We were shopping at Wal-Mart. The Cullens were with us. Alice was horrified when she found out that we bought our clothes from Wal-Mart but she came along anyways. Right now she dragged Jasper through the clothes searching for an outfit that was ‘even the slightest big worthy of her presence’ as she put it. Emmett was in the electronics messing around and Bella had taken Edward with her to find a singing toothbrush. Carlisle was actually in the doll section laughing at a Barbie Doll that was supposed to look like Ashley Tisdale. Psh, the thing was hideous.

Rosalie was babysitting Noelani with Jacob and Kara. I was surprised at how much she cared about Noelani. Rosalie had insisted on helping Jacob and Kara watch my daughter while we were out.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that something bad was going to happen soon. I tried to ignore the feeling as I loaded ten gallons of milk into the cart Seth pushed. My cart was full. I was debating on wither to get shell or Spongebob Mac-and- cheese when Alice and Jasper skidded around the corner and ran towards Seth and I at a speed that was too fast to be normal.

“What’s wrong?” I asked dreading the answer.

“It’s Nadalie! Noelani, Rosalie, Jacob, and Kara are in trouble. I had a vision. Jacob and Kara were knocked unconscious. Noelani had a cut across her face but was otherwise fine and Rosalie fought hard but she was dying. Her soul was almost gone. This wasn’t that far in the future so we’ve got to hurry!” Alice panted.

“Jasper, go alert the rest of your family,” I said. He nodded and took off. “Seth, buy this food and get it home. Alice, come with me. Let’s go before it’s too late.”

“I’m not staying here,” Seth protested.

“Buy the food NOW!” I growled, pulling my lips back in a terrifying snarl.

I could feel my eyes go from gold to black in an instant. Seth sighed and nodded. I grabbed Alice’s arm and spun her in the right direction. We ran as quickly as we could without attracting attention. When the store was out of sight we picked up speed.

All of this was my fault. If I had never come looking for Jasper then none of this would have happened. It was my fault that Esme was dead and Rosalie was being destroyed at this very moment. It was my fault that Embry was being hurt because Nadalie was a monster. Yet the small little selfish voice in the back of my head whispered that I was glad I had come. If I hadn’t I would never have met Seth.

These thoughts swirled through my mind as I ran to save the future of people that I loved. The werewolves, the vampires, and Noelani, all of them were suffering and it was my job to put it right.

We heard the screams long before the house came into view. They sounded desperate and pain filled. It was Rosalie.

Alice and I crept quietly through the battered door. Nadalie crouched over Rosalie like a hunter over its prey. Rosalie had fallen to her knees. Her hands were held tightly in Nadalie’s unbreakable grip. Rosalie was growing weaker by the second as Nadalie sucked at her soul. By now her cries were so weak that they couldn’t be heard by human ears.

I dropped to my belly behind the couch and motioned for Alice to do the same. This way we wouldn’t be seen by Nadalie. Jacob and Kara were knocked out behind the couch. I put my hand over Jacob’s mouth and slapped him. He jolted awake and my hand silenced his surprised yell.

I lay my finger across my lips and he nodded so I pulled my hand back. Jacob turned to wake Kara but I held him back. She couldn’t fight and might be safer unconscious. Jacob seemed to know what I was thinking because he didn’t protest. I motioned Alice and Jacob to lean in closer.

“On the count of three we attack,” I whispered.

They nodded and I held up my hand. One… two… three.

We leapt out from our hiding spot and pulled Nadalie away from Rosalie. Nadalie landed an impossibly quick punch on my jaw that sent me stumbling back onto the couch.

“Mommy?” a little voice whispered.

It was Noelani. She was huddled under a giant blanket. A slash across her cheek gushed blood. I tore off a strip of the blanket and started bandaging the wound.

“It’s going to be fine sweetie,” I told her. “Just sit here and try not to be seen, alright baby?”

“Ok,” her tiny voice squeaked.

I wanted to take my daughter and run but I had to finish this now so that we’d never have to worry about this soul sucker again. Jacob howled in pain and I turned to rejoin the fight. Alice was drinking blood from Nadalie’s arm while Jacob distracted her. I jumped and landed on her, knocking her to the ground.

The more blood Alice drank the weaker Nadalie became. I sank my teeth into her neck and helped. Her blood was disgusting. It reminded me of decaying flowers and sugar coated mold, as strange as that sounds.

Soon Nadalie lay pale and bloodless. Alice and I stood and spit with disgust. I looked around for Rosalie. She lay deathly still. I bent down next to her.

“Rosalie, wake up,” I hissed.

She gasped and her chest began to rise and fall as she breathed again. Her eyelashes fluttered and she mumbled something I couldn’t understand.

“Daddy!” Noelani squealed.

I stood up and hugged Seth who had picked up Noelani. The other Cullens poured into the house.

“Sorry guys but you’re a little late,” I said with a nod towards Nadalie’s still form.

“The soul sucking part of her is gone?” Carlisle asked.

“Yup,” I replied.

I thought I saw an evil smile flit across Nadalie’s face out of the corner of my eye but when I turned to look she lay as still as ever. She was good now right? I could finally wake up from this living nightmare. At least I thought I could.
