“Get off my daughter!” Jamie’s voice came to me. She must have gotten there as Aro tore me apart. I heard Esme scream “Edward!” when she saw him on the ground. Both of them growled the most menacing sound ever and attacked, they fought Aro off of me and threw him into the tree. Carlisle and Joe came up behind them and were about to join in when Aro said weakly, “A truce, I call a truce.” Carlisle, being forgiving, let him up. As soon as I reassembled myself I crawled over to Edward. “Edward?” I choked. “Edward? Please wake up. Edward? EDWARD!” I threw myself onto his body, Alice tried to pull me off of him but I shrugged her away. “Why didn’t you let me die?” I asked Jamie quietly. “Bella, I’m so sorry for you…” “No!” I cut her off. “No! Why couldn’t you let me die! I have no life without Edward, he was my love, now that he’s dead I might as well be!” I screamed, going into another, sobbing fit. I had no tears to shed and now I wish I did. “Edward, sleep, my Edward. Go and sleep peacefully for you will never awake.” I cooed into his ear. I was vaguely aware of Emmett, Rosalie, Sara, and Luke, showing up. I paid them no attention, I wanted to mourn, and never leave. “Bella.” Sara said softly after a while, when everyone else had finished mourning. “Come on, Bella. We need to bury him.” I shook my head clinging to his perfect body. He looked so peaceful, a sleeping God. Even now, when I was a beautiful vampire, just like him, I looked plain compared to him. I kissed his lips and laid my head on his chest. The way I did when I was human, and inhaled. His scent was still there, and had he been alive this would have been when he would kiss my hair and inhale softly. I sighed, wanting to go back to those times, even before Jake, it was so simple, me and him, sitting in the meadow. “Come on, Bella.” Sara said again, pulling me to my feet. I shook my head and fell back to Edward. Sara left and I sat there not aware of anything until a hot hand rested on my shoulder. “Jake?” I asked turning around. There he was, Jacob Black barely clad in clothing. He had the entire pack with him and some of the newer members too. “Bells I’m so sorry.” he said wrapping me in a hug. I tried to smile but couldn’t, I thanked him in whisper and dropped to my knees back to Edward. “Bella you need to get up!” he said. “I can’t leave him.” I whispered. Clinging to his lifeless body. “Come now Bella!” Aro commanded. I looked up at him trying to put as much fierceness as I could into a glare and growled deep in my chest, “You dare talk to me like that? After you’ve killed my love, and my will to live? You monster! I should kill you right now!” And I lunged at him, my fury burning past the pain of his scratches, done in our last battle. I attacked his face before any of the guard could spring to save him. We went down, in a flurry of teeth and nails. I fought just as hard as him, my fire fueled by the sight of Edward lying dead on the ground. Aro managed to free himself from my grasp and ran off like the coward he was, and his guards followed him, with their tails between their legs. The pain was crippling now, just because, I was able to fight and win didn’t mean I didn’t get hurt. “Bella?” Joe asked, steadying me as I walked away, and tripped. “Bella are you okay?” he asked again. “Bella!” he yelled as I went tumbling to the ground, everyone, even the pack surrounded me. “Joe you need to heal her.” Jamie said worriedly. “I know dear.” he said putting his hand on my chest. I was overcome with a numbing heat on my wounds, and then as the heat cooled they were gone. I stood up and looked at Edward still on the ground. “That’s it!” I practically screeched, my voice was so hoarse from sobbing. “Joe! You can heal Edward!” “I don’t know Bella.” he told me softly, "I’ve only used my powers on people with injuries or were about to die, not the dead. But I can try.” he added when he saw my face fall. Everyone watched Joe nervously, as he set his jaw determinedly. Ever so carefully, he kneeled down, and reached out to touch Edward. He pointed his index finger, and tapped Edward lightly. Nothing happened. He tried again, this time, using his whole hand he laid it on Edward’ chest, letting it rest there. Still, nothing. He tried on more time, practically smacking Edward. No sign of movement. “No!” I gasped. “No! No, no, no!” I feel to my knees, and sobbed into my hands, to absorbed in my misery to notice everyone gasp. I felt hands take my shoulders and rub them. I knew those hands, they had been the very same one to caress my face in the meadow, and run through my hair. Those were Edward’s hands. I turned around, thinking it was some kind of sick joke my family was playing on me, when I met those familiar, topaz eyes, and favorite crooked smile. Edward was alive. I screamed and threw myself into his arms, kissing him, over and over. Our family and the pack joined our embrace, forming a huge group hug. “I love you Edward.” I said wishing I had tears of joy. “I love you, my Bella.” he answered. We all expressed love for everyone even the pack and the coven told each other how much they meant. Until Aro spoke, “That was an interesting power. I think that would serve us nicely.” They wanted to fight again. And they had brought reinforcements. Well if it was a fight they wanted, it was a fight they were gonna get!
