Rating 5/5   Word Count 2804   Review this Chapter

So much has changed for me in so little time…I actually liked the sound of rain falling lightly onto my bedroom window these days. Well, I suppose I liked a bit of everything these days considering the amount of precious time I spent with a certain someone.

“Have you fallen asleep, love?” A velvety soft voice came from behind me. I sighed quietly and shifted my body to snuggle closer into his ice cold chest.

“Nope,” I said, popping the ‘p’. His musical chuckle made my heart swell. And I was allowed to spend the rest of my days with this angel? He was never enough, yet he was more than my heart could take…I was going to spontaneously combust one of these days.

“So…tomorrow?” He asked casually. I froze, causing him to still behind me.

“What. About. Tomorrow?” I hissed through clenched teeth.

“Well…I suppose you wouldn’t want to do anything special?” He asked. I shook my head and groaned.

“Edward, I swear, if you do anything even close to extravagant, I’ll…” I trailed off, unable to think of a threat that could hold him.

“Yes?” He whispered, trailing his fingers through my hair.

“I’ll…never let you drive again,” I declared.

“Oh dear, we can’t have that, now can we?” He mocked, chuckling softly. I rolled my eyes, though he couldn’t see me.

“Right, so you better not spend any money on me.”

“Well, what if I didn’t spend any money on you, but I still want to do something for you. Would you accept it from me?” He pleaded in that irresistibly soft voice of his.

“Um…I suppose,” I drawled out. Thank God I had gotten something for him, just in case. I’m sure my gift wouldn’t even be near as wonderful as his would be, but what’s a girl to do?

“Hmm, that’s good. Goodnight then, Bella. I love you,” he spoke clearly, making my heart go crazy.

“I love you too,” I managed to say before falling into a deep sleep…

“Bella…wake up,” his cool breath whispered into my ear. I whimpered and kept my eyes closed.

“Sweetheart? Do you want me to leave?” He asked worriedly. I sat up quickly, shaking my head. When I turned slightly, he was grinning smugly and then he winked at me.

“You’re devious,” I croaked, my throat sore from sleeping. He didn’t reply, just sat up and kissed my cheek, then my forehead, and lastly the tip of my nose.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, love,” he whispered before kissing my lips. I sighed into the kiss, tracing my fingers along his stony, graceful neck.

“Happy Valentine’s Day to you too…” I said nonchalantly.

“So, did you notice anything different about your room this morning?” He spoke, just as disinterestedly. I frowned as I looked around my room…nothing seemed different.

“Um…OH!” I gasped, looking down at the floor, seeing millions of red rose petals strewn across the ground.

“Edward!” I sighed, leaning down and grabbing a handful. “I thought I told you not to be extravagant…”

“I wasn’t…these are all from the Esme’s garden,” he smiled against my neck, placing butterfly kisses there.

“Hmm, I love them,” I smiled back. “You’re very romantic, did you know?”

He chuckled, but didn’t reply, simply pulling the covers away from me and carrying me to the bathroom. I didn’t have the heart to tell him to put me down…I still craved for his attention.

“Where’s Charlie?” I asked, coming out of the restroom, seeing him waiting for me in the rocking chair. I sat in his lap and tucked my head under his chin, letting his arms envelope me.

“He went to Henry’s house to watch a game…he told me I could whisk you away for the whole day.”

“Humph, figures. Why not get rid of the kid and go have fun at the same time?” I rolled my eyes. Edward grinned and shook his head.

“I’m sure more than those thoughts came to his mind…although, I must admit I didn’t expect him to let me wake you up in the morning,” he said, trailing his fingers onto my shoulder blades. I let my head fall back, so I could place my nose against his collar bone. God, he smelled good.

“So what are we doing today?” I asked carefully, watching his face.

“Well, I was wondering if you wanted to go to our meadow?” He asked, a bright look in his beautiful golden eyes.

“Sure, let me just grab some stuff to eat,” I said, getting up from his lap reluctantly.

“No need, already done,” He smirked, handing me a picnic basket. I peeked inside and saw a thermos, and two blue containers of food. I’d have to be sneaky and slip my own present into that.

“You are too perfect, Edward Cullen,” I sighed, letting the lid drop with a snap. He only smiled and picked me up again, carrying me downstairs.

“Wait, I have to change clothes!” I remembered, looking down at my sweats and t-shirt.

“Why? We aren’t going to meet anyone else. But, you should grab a jacket, it might get cold,” he said, getting my black coat from the closet. I nodded, reaching out to grab the truck keys. A white flash came, and I heard the keys jingling from behind me. I turned around, seeing Edward twirling the key ring around his fingers casually.

“Hey, don’t I get to drive?”

“Hmm, nope,” He said, popping the ‘p’ just as I had done last night. Oh, so now he was mocking me? Two can play that game!

“Well, I suppose you can drive, if you keep the limit down,” I remarked, trying to speak in his gentle English cadence, but not achieving.

Once we got to the meadow, it had started to rain again. He pulled out a huge green and white umbrella, letting it cover us whole. I climbed up on his back and held onto the umbrella while he ran, swift and silent under me. Once the trees parted, I opened my eyes to the beautiful meadow. It smelled so much fresher today because of the rain. I gasped when I saw the large tent in the middle.

“You put up a tent for us!” I smiled, jumping down from his back. He nodded and helped me inside, smiling.

The inside looked even better than the outside. It had blankets curled around everywhere to make it cozy, and a small CD player in the corner, plus a stack of my favorite books in the other corner. I sighed blissfully and turned to look at him.

“I love you,” was all I could say.

“I love you too,” he said, giving me a chaste kiss. I craved for more, but I would take as much as I could get. I took a sip of the hot chocolate in the thermos.

So for the rest of the day, we simply relaxed inside the tent, listening to soft music and reading. We talked a little also, but not too much…we didn’t need to, because the silence was so comforting. He had made me grilled cheese sandwiches and brought chips also…I was sitting up, against the posting in the corner and he had his head in my lap, eyes closed and mouth trembling slightly.

He was singing to himself again…I smiled and leaned down, planting a kiss on his nose.

“Won’t you sing out loud? For me?” I asked softly, pouting a bit. He grinned and nodded, looking up into my eyes. I was mesmerized…how could I possibly deserve this angel?

He clicked the forward button on the stereo and a soft piano started to play. When he started to sing, my heart swelled, and I felt tears flood into my eyes. I tried to blink them away, but that made them escape my eyelids. He sat up and caressed my cheeks, his words causing me to tremble slightly.

You're a falling star, You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And You're the perfect thing to see.

The way he sang made me bite my lip. The tempo increased, and he sang more enthusiastically.

And you play your card, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

His eyes burned bright into mine, and his next words made my hands shake even harder.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

This was exactly how I felt about him, it was still so hard to believe that he felt the same way towards me…

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

God, he was so beautiful, he made my heart ache and more tears flow…
And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

So, so true…we’ve gone through so much, I just wanted to hold him in my arms for the rest of my life. He kissed and sang into my neck, smiling the whole time.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

His words could never be more gentle, and his eyes could never be more breathtaking. He gave my forehead a kiss, then went back to my neck.

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

He sang softly, but his voice rang in my ears. His light fingers weaved through one of my hands, and the other was in my hair, fingering the nape of my neck. His nose trailed my collarbone.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

He slowed down, his voice low and beautiful as it ended off the song perfectly.

You're every song, and I sing along.
Cause you're my everything.
yeah, yeah

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

During his last tone, I couldn’t take it any longer. I pressed my lips full against his. His lips curled upward as he smiled against me. I intertwined my fingers through his silky hair, pulling him closer. He pulled away slightly with irresistible force, both of our breaths coming shallow.

“Breathe, you have to breathe,” he seemed to be reminding himself more than he was to me. I took a deep breath and sighed it out.

“Perfect,” I reminded him, kissing the corner of his lip. He seemed so much more in control today…it’s like he wasn’t struggling too much at all.

“Your turn, beautiful,” his eyes glistened. I blinked, shaking my head.

“Me? I can’t sing…”

Please? For me?” He pleaded with me, using that dazzling voice of his again. It was useless to argue with him--that much I knew very well. I sighed, picking up a random CD and looking over it. I picked a song that I knew very well and put it into the player, pushing play and forwarding to the right number.

One, two, three
Counting out the signs we see

The tall buildings
Fading in the distance
Only dots on a map

My voice was quiet at first, but as I felt his cold fingers squeeze my hands, I was reassured slightly.

Four, five, six
The two of us a perfect fit
You're all mine, all mine

He grinned at me, nodding reverently with my words. I smiled and kept singing.

And all I can say
Is you blow me away

He mouthed ‘I love you,’ as I started the chorus…

Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me

SO true…goodness, how many songs were there out there, that fit us perfectly?

So softly
Rain against the windows
And the strong coffee
Warming up my fingers
In this fisherman's house
You got me
Searched the sand
And climbed the tree
And brought me back down

We both smiled…rain…fisherman…climbing trees…so perfect and true.

And all I can say
Is you blow me away

Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me

I didn’t even have to sing the last chorus, for he had captured my lips with his, kissing me more gracefully and passionately that he had since…too long ago.

“Hmm, I love you,” I mumbled softly against his cold lips while gasping for the much needed oxygen.

“You are mine and only mine…how have you managed to fall from the heavens, my angel?” He whispered, his lips at my ear. I moaned slightly, immediately followed by a blush. He became still, then curled his arm around my waist.

“Why are you embarrassed? I love each and every sound you make, Bella,” he remarked, kissing my cheeks. He pulled my hands away from his hair gently and weaved my fingers into his again.

“Can you feel this?” He asked, tracing small circles into the back of my hands. I looked up, confused.

“Feel what?” I asked.

“Can you feel it…whenever I hold your hands, it feels as if two puzzle pieces are locking together into a perfect fit…or is that just me?” He asked, looking into my eyes for the truth. My heart finally slowed down, and I nodded.

“As if…you and I were made for each other? Something about you…I can’t quite figure it out just yet…” I said, feeling more in touch with him than I’d ever have before.

“We have time…plenty of time to figure it out,” he smiled, kissing me again. I curled my fingers tight into his hands to keep from going crazy again.

“Wait, I have to give you my present, Edward,” I smiled, letting go of him. I pulled out the picnic basket, and opened the lid.

“Bella, you didn’t have to get me anything,” he frowned. I smirked and handed him a white box with a red ribbon on top of it. It may have taken me quite a while to find, but I had Alice for help.

“Open it,” I urged, watching his lithe fingers make quick work of the ribbon. As he opened the box, I held my breath, hoping more than anything that he would like it.

It was a booklet of paper…clean and blank composition paper, with Edward’s name in cursive on each page. Alice told me he had been looking for more composition paper so he could write music, and so I decided to provide him with some.

“Bella…” He sighed. When he looked up, I saw pure love and happiness in his eyes. Suddenly, he leaned in and kissed me with such force, I would probably be a bit bruised…oh, but it was so worth it.

“I guess that means you like it, then?” I asked breathlessly. He nodded and grinned.

“I love it…almost as much as I love you,” he said, looking up from those dark eyelashes of his. My heart went crazy and his grin went wider, probably from hearing it.

“Can I give you my gift now?” He asked slowly. My eyes went wide and my jaw dropped.

“What? No, you already did all of this for me!” I said, gesturing with my hands to the tent and the food.

“Yes, but this is something…physical,” he replied, eyes bright. I sighed and shook my head, holding out my hands. He leaned over to the CD corner and pulled one out, laying it down into my hands.

I let out a giggle.

Awww, that is so sweet,” I said, biting my bottom lip.

It was a chocolate CD! The middle was a picture of me, blushing and smiling slightly, and the rest was made out of milk chocolate, with little engravings of music notes…it was inside of a case with a golden ribbon on top of it.

“Edward, I love it, thank you!” I sighed, leaning over and kissing his cheek.

“You’re welcome…” he smiled, holding my hand. “Happy Valentine’s Day, love.”

“Happy Valentine’s Day,” I replied, receiving a cold kiss that warmed my heart.
