6. Saying Goodbye

Rating 5/5   Word Count 930   Review this Chapter

When we came down the stairs Alice was sitting on the couch, pouting.

“What’s wrong, Alice?”

“Gee, I don’t know. Maybe that you’re leaving!”

“Not by my choice. It’s all Edward’s fault. Blame him.”

“Gee, way to throw me under the bus.”

“Your welcome, hun,” I kissed his nose, “I’m going to go say goodbye to everyone else while you two argue. I’ll be back to say goodbye, Alice.”

“If I have anything to say about it you won’t be leaving!”

I giggled as I walked into the dining room to see Rosalie and Emmett. “Well, Edward and I are leaving now.” Emmett came and gave me one of his trademark bear hugs.

“I’m going to miss you around here Bella. I can’t wait till you guys come back.”

“Thanks, Emmett,” then the strangest thing happened, Rosalie hugged me.

“I can’t wait till you come back. I hope you and I can become as close as Alice and I. It’ll be really fun having another girl in the house.”

“Thanks, Rosalie. I’m going to miss you, too, both of you,” then I went upstairs to say goodbye to Jasper.

Knock, knock. “Come in, Bella,” Jasper said.

“Thanks. Well, as you probably know, Edward and I will be leaving. So, I came to say goodbye to you.”

“Thank you, Bella. I don’t think Alice will be able to wait until you come back. I guess I’m stuck taking her to the mall still,” he chuckled then continued, “Bella, I hope you have fun and I will miss you. I wish I would have had someone to take me away when I was transformed so that I wouldn’t still be considered the weakest link.”

“Yeah. Well, I need to go say goodbye to Esme and Carlisle. I still have Alice to say goodbye too. I’m saving her for last, knowing she’ll take the longest.”

“Haha. Yeah. I bet Edward probably could say goodbye to all of us while Alice is saying goodbye to you.”

“Probably. Well, I guess I’ll see you in a few years.”

“Bye, Bella.”

“Bye!” I headed to Carlisle and Esme’s room to say goodbye. I knocked on the door and walked in. “Hey guys. I thought I should say goodbye since I’m leaving.”

“Splendid, Bella,” Esme said, “Where are you guys going?”

“I don’t know,” I shrugged, “He won’t tell me.”

“How romantic! Well, have fun, Bella. Remember that you two are always welcome here at anytime. We love you.”

“Thanks Esme. Bye, you two. Thank you for that open opportunity. Well, I guess I have to face Alice now. Bye!”

“Bye, Bella!” they both shouted as I closed the door.

Then, as I went down to face Alice realizing how long this goodbye would be, the strangest thing happened. Alice was bouncing up and down on the couch as Edward was shushing her. I heard a bit of what he was saying before he realized I was the one on the stairs. “Alice, shhh, Bella will defiantly hear you if you keep up how you are acting now.”

“Edward, how am I supposed to keep that a secret? I want to go tell her right now.”

“Alice, refrain, she can’t know that I’m taking her to -” I didn’t get to hear what he was about to say because Alice coughed and obviously thought/told him I was on the stairs. “Bella, how nice. Now I can go say bye to everyone while you two say your goodbyes.”

He kissed me lightly then walked into the dining room to start his round of saying goodbye.

“Hi, Alice.”

“Bye.”

“Why are you in such a hurry for me to leave? Earlier you were begging Edward to let me stay?”

“Because I know where he’s taking you. Bye.”

“Wait! You can’t just tell me you know where he’s taking me and not tell me where!”

“It’s hard enough not to tell you. Please don’t make it harder, Bella.”

“Ugh, fine.”

“Thanks, Bella! Have fun! Wait, does that work even if I know you will have fun?”

“Yes, Alice. If you want it to, it will,” she then pulled me into one of the tightest hugs she’s ever given me.

“Bye, Bella.”

“Bye, Alice,” then, Edward walked in.

“Aren’t you guys done yet? I’ve gone all around the house and said goodbye to everyone already.”

Alice let go of me and sighed, “Yeah. We’re done. I just thought I would let you know, Bella, that if I could cry, I would be.”

“Me too, Alice,” we hugged again and then Edward sighed.

“You guys make me feel horrible.”

“Sorry honey. Okay, I’m ready.” I looked up the stairs, “Bye everyone,” then I heard Emmett.

“Would you go already? No need to be so dramatic. Gosh…”

“Thanks Emmett! Let’s go, Edward.”

We finally walked out the door and I was trying to memorize the house, not knowing how long it would be till I saw it again, if I ever did. Edward already had our bags in the trunk so all I had to do was get in and watch him pull away from my home.

“Bella, we will be back. I promise.”

“I know. I just can’t seem to imagine leaving. Not just the house. But, Forks for the matter.”

“It will happen. Don’t worry. Give it a few generations and we’ll come back.”

“Generations,” I gulped.

“Here. Let me strap you in,” he smiled as he leaned over me and pulled my seatbelt into its place. He then planted a light kiss onto my lips, which then turned out not so light.

“Edward, let’s wait till we get wherever it is we’re going.”

His chest was heaving although he didn’t have to breathe. “Right. Let’s go.”

I then watched as my home faded from view. Then, it was just me and Edward on the road together.
