Jacob's POV

I run straight to the forest, darting into the trees. I run as fast sa I can, hoping that she won't see my tears. I don't look back. I don't want that picture burning in my head for the rest of time. I always thought that if I had to leave BElla, it would have to be quick and painless. But I'm finding out that it's not painless, no it's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. Leaving her standing there, not knowing what to do. Making her think that I'm leaving her for good, puttting her through pain. It's the worst feeling in the world. I don't think I've ever felt this kind of pain and I pray that I'll never have to again.

As soon as I'm deep in the forest I phase and run harder, faster. The trees go by iun a blur. I try to block out the thoughts of the pack. Bella must have called someone to let them know that I've left.

Soon, though, the voices break through I can't push them back. with everyone shouting I can't tell who is saying what and everything becoms a mixture. My head spins and I get slightly dizzy. I slow y pace to avoid hitting a tree. I can't concentrate with everyone talking at once.

Where are you going?! What are you doing?! You can't run away again?! You need to come back! Just talk to us! Where are you going?! We'll track you down if we have to! You can't leave us! Not again! Please stay! We could help! What are you doing?!

One voice rises above the rest. I almost stop. The tone of the voice gives me chills. Sam's voice is much more calm then the others.

Jacob. The least you can do is tell us what is going on.

I take a deep breath and show them all what has been going on the past few days. That I told Bella, that she chose me, that Edward's gone, I tell them everything. Everytime I think of Bella, a knife rips through me. Leaving her is going to be harder than expected.

What are you going to do? Asks Quil, for some reason his voice comes out above the rest, just like Sam's did.

Sam?

Yes? His voice is still calm, though slightly confused.

Do you remember the time you were talking to me about imprinting?

I show him that it was a while ago, when I was first finding out about what was going on. I show him that it was about a week after I cut my hair short.

I veer to the left, knowing that there's a highway straight ahead. It's better to cross a few less crowded roads, in the middle of no where, than a highway.

...Yes? He says, not knowing where I'm going with this.

You said that when I imprinted I would become everything that she needed, whether it's a protecter or someone she could joke around with. I would become the perfect thing for her, whatever it is.

...Yes? His voice tells me that he's still confused.

Well, I'm doing what I have to do to make her happy. I'm becoming what I need to be for her. I know exactly what she needs.

Soon, I loose my cover. The forest thins and a prairie unfolds before me. Luckily the yellowish grass has grown tall and no one is even around to see me. Still, I sniff the air to make sure. There's no human scent.

I'm sorry I don't quite see where you're going with this. What are you going to do? Where re you going?

I take another deep breath. I push myself to run faster. I make my legs run faster. My surroundings blur again, the wind whips in my face. I grass almost tickles my legs. I let a little snarl go through me as I think about my next thought.

I'm going to find Edward. And I'm going to bring him back.
