This is it. I’m going to be a vampire. It’s happening. I’m being changed. I’m going to be a vampire. Edward and I will be vampires and we’ll be together forever. I’m going to be a vampire. This thought is exciting and terrifying at the same time.

Edward injects the venom and soon a fire starts in my arm. The piercing horrible pain that I remember is just as bad this time, if not worse. It feels like a fire is burning me, while I’m being stabbed repeatedly by sharp needles, cut open with a sharp knife and slammed by a baseball bat over and over again. Nothing can compare to this pain though. I let out the most bloodcurdling scream I have. The horrible pain makes its way up my arm stopping for a second before moving into my shoulder. I scream again. Then the pain stops moving. It just hovers in my shoulder and arm, getting worse and worse every second. Then suddenly something’ pulling at my wrist. Suddenly the pain is being pulled down to my wrist. I look down and see something I wish I could forget.

Edward’s lips are still on my wrist, but they aren’t injecting anymore. His eyes have changed. They aren’t dark like before. No, they’re…red, blood red. He’s not changing me. He’s…sucking. He’s…sucking my blood.

I scream again, louder and harder than before. Carlisle comes and yells at Edward, telling him to stop. He grab’s Edward and tries to pull him away, but he doesn’t budge. He yells something again, but I don’t hear because I’m screaming to loud. Carlisle grabs him again, pulling him away from my bed. Edward tries to wrestle out of Carlisle’s grip on his shirt, his blood red eyes focused on me.

That’s when I pass out.

My eyes open and I see Carlisle shoving Edward out the door. He shuts it and stands in front of it. He looks at me.

“Are you ok?” He asks, calm and cool as ever.

I nod.

“I’m going to…” He never finishes his sentence; he just walks out the door. I hear the lock click.

Complete silence. There was screaming just seconds ago, now nothing. Carlisle and Edwards struggling just seconds ago, no it’s just me. I’m all alone, in complete silence.

What just happened? Edward was changing me. He injected the venom and everything, but then…he stopped…he started sucking. He was sucking my blood. He couldn’t do it. He couldn’t change me; he was overcome by his want for my blood. He was sucking my blood. I could not accept this fact. I close my eyes trying to push the thought out of my head, but all I see is Edward and his blood red eyes.

Then I pass out again.

When I wake up I look out the window and see that it’s morning. Then I see Carlisle sitting at a chair next to my bed. He has his head in his hands. He looks so worried, so depressed. I shift a little and Carlisle looks up and turns back into the calm and collected Carlisle I know.

“Good Morning” He says smiling. “Did you sleep well?” He asks.

“Yes,” I say softly.

“Bella, you may have noticed that you’ve been passing out, more than normal.” I nod. “That’s because you’ve lost serious amounts of blood what with the accident in the forest and now…this.” He sighs. “I have to know you’re blood type so I can get the proper blood here to give you a transfusion.”

“A transfusion?” I ask.

“Yes,” Carlisle says, “It’s the only way. We were going to have you changed, but seeing as how that’s not going to happen just yet, we need to keep you alive. It’s the only option, unless…”

“Unless what?” I ask.

“Unless you agree to have someone other than Edward change you.” The image of Edward and his blood red eyes captures my thoughts. If I wait to be changed, what are the chances that this will happen again? If it does, then I’ll have to wait even longer, and I can’t wait any longer. I don’t want to get any older.

“I’ll let you think about it, but it would still be best if I got the blood, just in case. So can you tell me what you’re blood type is?” He asks politely.

My thoughts go back to the day in class where we were going to prick our fingers and find out what blood type we had. Mike was taking me to the office when Edward showed up and took care of me. Where was that Edward? I want the kind, caring Edward back; I don’t want this blood thirsty one.

“Bella?” Carlisle asks. His voice brings me back down to Earth.

“I don’t know,” I say, “Can we call Charlie, or Renee? They would know.”

Carlisle sighs.

“Well, Bella, to make this happen, to bring you here and change you we had to tell a little white lie.” He looks at me and sighs again. “We told Charlie and Renee and everyone that you didn’t make it.”

“So they think I’m…dead?” Saying it doesn’t help it to sink in. My parents think I’m dead. Are they sad? What kind of a question is that?! Their daughter died! Of course they’re sad! Aren’t they?

“Yes.” Carlisle says, “You have to understand Bella, it was the only way to make this happen. We had no other choice.”

I nod. Suddenly it all sinks in. They think I’m dead, so that means I can never see them again. That was the last time I’ll ever see Charlie. The last time I’ll ever see Renee. The thought of never seeing either of them again makes my whole body ache. I push it out of my thoughts.

“Is there some sort of…test that I could take to see what type it is?” My thoughts wander back to that day in class again.

“Yes,” Carlisle says, “I’ll have to send Alice for the supplies though.” He says turning towards the door.

“Alice?” I ask stopping him. I sit up, more interested. Why is Alice here? Sitting up makes me dizzy though, so I lay back down, but my head still spins.

“Yes, she and the rest of the family came up as soon as Edward had left.” Carlisle says and turns back to the door and leaves.

Alice, Rosalie, Esme, Jasper, Emmett, Carlisle, they’re all here.

Except Edward.
