I was woken up by a very high and loud squeal that filled the room.

“Reese! Wake up! We have to get you ready for your first day of school!” Alice shrieked in my ear. I pulled the covers over my head.

“Alice! Do we have to do this? I can get dressed my self!”

“Nonsense!” With that she pulled me up and rushed me upstairs. “I already got you some new clothes. You can pick what you want out of the bag,” she handed me a very large bag filled with designer clothes.

“Alice! You didn’t have to-”

“Of course I did! You can’t go around wearing the same clothes every day!” She started to go through the bag and picked out items of clothes she wanted me try on. “Here, try these on and we can pick out the best one!”

“Alice, I-”

“Go!” she shoved me into the bathroom. I looked at the mountain of clothes in my arms and knew that I had no choice. After modeling every single piece of clothing for Alice, she decided on a pretty blue top and a pair of jeans.

“It’s just school, Alice!” I yelled exhausted.

“Don’t ruin my fun!” she said. I wouldn’t let her do my hair so I put it in a loose pony tail. “Fine, look like a slob…” she muttered walking off. I chuckled to myself and walked downstairs. David put his arm around me and we walked into one of the Cullens’ many cars.

“You look nice today, Reese,” David said.

“Blame Alice,” I muttered. He chuckled lightly and got into the car.

“We’re both senior. And remember, we are brother and sister,” he reminded me.

“In the same grade?”

“I was adopted.”

“Okay.” I didn’t like the idea of not having a claim on David. No doubt the girls at school would be all over him. I narrowed my eyes at that thought.

“What’s wrong?” David asked after seeing my expression.

“The girls at school.”

David laughed. “Don’t worry about that, Reese. You are the only girl for me.”

“ I know but-”
“Don’t worry about it.” I let the matter drop and focused on other things. I wondered if I would be far behind in the studies. I was out of school for about a week or so. Then I remembered that I came to Forks during a break. Maybe Forks High School wasn’t as far ahead as my other school was. Maybe I could join the track team. If there is a Track team.

“David,” I asked turning around to face him.

“Yes?”

“Does Forks High School have any athletics?” The school was coming into view and it seemed impossibly small. Every kid in the school would have to be on a team for there to be all the sports my old school had.

“To tell you the truth, I really have no idea. Why do you ask anyway?” He grinned as he looked my way.

“You know perfectly well why.”

“Can’t stay away from the track that long can you?” he said chuckling.

“Well, at least I get to be rewarded by my hard work at the end of practice,” I teased him remembering his supernatural speed which came with his vampirism.

“Ouch,” David responded still chuckling. “I’ll talk to the coach for you,” he said after seeing my irritated expression.

“I can talk to him myself.”

“That’s my Reese.”

I growled like a vampire under my breath at his response.

“Hey, you’re not a vampire yet.”

“I will be in a few months.”

“Yes you will be,” David whispered. David obviously didn’t want to talk anymore about it, so I let the matter drop. We rounded the corner and entered the parking lot. Due to David’s maniac driving we were one of the first one’s there. He pulled into a parking space near the entrance of the school. The Cullens were also parked and were getting out of the car. I remembered what Alice told me earlier and didn’t wave to them. To every other student at FHS (Forks High School) David and I had no idea who the Cullens were.

David took my hand and led me up the steps and through the double doors. Air conditioning blasted into my face making me shiver. David let go of my hand and opened the office door. We walked in and was greeted by an elderly woman sitting at the front desk.

“Good morning how may I help you?” she was mainly talking to David due to obvious reasons so just in spite of her I talked instead. No one looks at David like that on my watch.

“We just transferred here and would like our schedules,” I said acidly as David chuckled softly in the background. The woman looked at me in surprise and handed us our schedules quickly.

“Okay, have a nice day,” she said turning to her computer letting her eyes wander to us to see if we were still there. She jumped a little to see that we were still standing in front of her desk.

“What more can I do for you?” she practically yelled nervously.

“I would like a map of the school,” I said bitterly. She took out two maps and just about threw them at us.

“Goodbye now!” she said loudly. David and I walked out of the office and when we were out of ear shot, David burst into laughter.

“You’re evil, Reese!” he laughed.

“You does she think she is!” I yelled out frustratingly.

“She’s just an old lady.”

“I don’t care.”

David chuckled a little more. He squeezed my hand and whispered “Good luck” in my ear before walking off to his next class. To my utter annoyance every girl turned their heads to look at him. Muttering under my breath, I looked at my schedule.

First class: Chemistry. Fun (note the sarcastic tone). I looked at the school map. It was in room 104. I followed the map easily and landed next to a door that had science posters all over it. I took a deep breath and walked into the door. I walked over to the teacher’s desk ignoring the curious stares of the students.

“I’m Reese and I’m new here,” I said blandly.

“Oh yes, you can sit down in any seat you like.” I looked around the room. There was only one seat open. To my enjoyment it was next to Alice. I tried to hide my excitement and sat down next to her. I heard her bubbly voice in my ear.

“Hi, I’m Alice!” She said cheerfully. I tried to hide my laughter.

“Hey, I’m Reese,” I managed to say with out chuckling. Throughout the class we pretended to become close friends. I ignored the teacher completely due to already knowing the subject we were on. Alice looked into the future and saw that we didn’t have any other classes with each other. But I would have third period with Bella and sixth with David. DAVID! YA! The class unfortunately ended and Alice and I had to go our separate ways. As I walked into my second class, I felt a tap on my right shoulder. There was a guy with black hair standing behind me.

“Hi, I’m Sam Howard. I couldn’t help notice that you are friends with Alice. Do you know if she’s available or anything?” he asked me hopefully. Sorry bud, not in this lifetime.

“She has a pretty intimate boy friend in France. She visits him every summer,” I lied trying not to laugh as Sam sulked off. I am evil…I thought. But it was fun being evil. I was still chuckling as I entered the class room.

“I’m Reese. I’m new here,” I said for the third time.

“Sit down wherever,” the teacher said inspecting her fingernails. Math is sure going to be fun. There was an empty table in the back of the room and I gladly sat down there. A blond kid that sat in front of me turned around to face me.

“You know Alice? Then you must know Bella.”

“I have no idea who Bella is. But Alice did mention her,” I said suggestively knowing where the Bold guy was going.

“Really?” Blond-Kid said eagerly.

“Yah. She said how annoyed Bella got when random guys flirt with her even though she’s with the man of her dreams.” Blond-Kid looked depressed, then perked up.

“Hi, I’m Mike,” he said offering his hand. Being the new kid I was entitled to go through every desperate guy’s flirts.

“Yah, I’m Reese,” I said.

“My friends and I sit at a table with some extra seats…if you need a place to sit or anything…” Oh God.

“My brother will find a place to sit.”

“Brother?”

“Yes. Tall, brown hair, gold eyes…”

That’s your brother?” Mike said incredulously.

“He was adopted.”

“Oh. So how are you liking Forks?”

“It’s small and wet.”

“Do you like small and wet?”

“No.”

“Have you met any new friends?” And so the questions went on and on until the end of class when I could escape Mike’s constant babbling. Poor Bella. She must have to put up with him every day. The rest of the day went with out incident. I talked to Bella during third period and she laughed at the way Mike acted. Other then that…up until lunch was incredibly boring.

I was in another building for my last class before lunch. I was the last one out of the class and I heard a faint whisper in my ear.

You can’t hide any longer.” I turned around and to my complete horror there was Michel standing in the trees nearby. He disappeared with an evil smile, leaving me speechless. So much for uneventful, I thought.
