Five of the Cullens at a time patrolled out side and one or two would stay in the same room with me and Bella. Over the week I have gotten friendly with the Cullens. There was nothing else to do but talk to them and that’s what we would do for hours. On Saturday it was Alice’s turn to watch us. We were talking about something or another to do with clothing when Alice’s face acquired a zoned-out look. Knowing that she was probably having a vision, I waited for her to be done. When she came back to Earth again her eyes were full of fear and she was staring at me. Edward rushed into the room with a similar expression on his face. The rest of the Cullens entered the room looking just as confused as me.

“Alice…?” I started, a little afraid of what she was going to say.

“I-I had a vision,” she started. “Edward’s glass wall was broken and Reese was laying on the ground… Bleeding. The two vampires were standing around her laughing as David walked into view, watching her die. I don‘t know where the third one is.” Chills went down my spine as she told us her vision. I sprinted over to David, and he held me tight.

“Don’t worry Reese. Nothing will happen to you.” I wanted to believe him, but there was doubt lingering in the back of my mind. David described his old clan in very deep detail and they sounded very dangerous. I hoped that the Cullens were up for the match.

Everyone watched the house even more closely, if that was even possible, after Alice’s vision. Bella and I had to stay in the living room so that anyone trying to kill us would have to do it in plain sight. With the extra time that I had on my hands, my thoughts wandered. Bella and I had run out of conversation topics so we sat in silence usually. I thought of our predicament and how angry vampires could get sometimes and usually for stupid reasons. It just seemed unrealistic for David’s old clan to get angry just because he left them. I decided to ask David about it.

I confronted him on his way outside after checking up on me.

“I was wondering…are you telling me the whole story?”

“What…do you mean?”

“About your old clan. Are you telling me the whole story of why they want revenge against you?” David’s face had mixed emotions. Worry, fear, and indecisiveness. He finally responded.

“No. I didn’t. Another vampire tried to leave with me. Before we could make our escape, the leader of the coven tried to stop us. My companion was killed and I killed the leader. I only escaped by an illusion. It took them a little while to track me down. I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you the whole truth, but…I was afraid that you wouldn’t want me afterwards.”

He rushed through his words and when he was done I looked at him in shock. He took my expression the wrong way. “After the coven is gone, I’ll leave. You’ll never have to see me again.” He turned around to walk out the door. I grabbed onto his shirt.

“David!” He turned around to face me. “How could you think that I wouldn’t love you anymore?”

“You don’t think of me as a killer, a monster?”

“Of course I don’t! You are my world! My life!” He embraced me in a tight hug then. The hug was a little too tight. Seeing that I was having trouble breathing, he released me.

“I’ll be more truthful for now on,” he promised me.

“Except when you are doing your illusions,” I added. He nodded and looked out the window.

“I have to go now,” he said regretfully.

“Bye,” I whispered, but he was already gone. I stood there thinking of the situation in a whole new light. It was a lot more dangerous then I had thought. Those vampires were out for real revenge. Revenge on David. Revenge by killing me. I realized that they wouldn’t stop at anything to get what they wanted.
