When I opened my eyes, I instantly closed them again. The sun was blaring right in my face. Finally, I thought, a day with sun in Forks. I opened my eyes again, this time more slowly. I tried to sit up, but the back of my head throbbed. I grabbed the back of my head and tried to sit up again. It hurt really, really bad, but I couldn’t let the Clan come back and kill me. After successfully sitting up, I gingerly stood up. I stumbled as I tried to take a step, and I became dizzy. I stopped for a moment to regain my balance. After a few moments I tried to walk again. The pain was horrible. I ignored it. Or at least tried to. I was not about to let some pain keep me away from freedom. I heard some chuckling behind me. I turned around too fast and wobbled a little.

“They told me that you don’t give up.” A vampire with black, wavy hair stood in front of me, his skin glittering in the light. I guessed that this one was William.

“What do you want?” My speech sounded sloppy, but I couldn’t care less.

“I think you know very well want they want.” They?

“Excuse me?”

“I don’t really know why we are doing this. Michel’s now the leader, what more does he want? I’m really just going along to keep on his good side.”

William looked up surprised as if he didn’t know he was talking out loud.

“Oh…” He looked around quickly then. “We’ll talk later.’

“I see you met our captive, William,” Leonardo said walking into the clearing.

“Oh yes. Just how you described. I see that she resisted your hypnosis quite well.”

“It was luck,” Leonardo muttered. Luck! I couldn’t stop a chuckle from escaping my lips.

“Why you little!” Leonardo lunged at me and I awaited my doom. Instead of my bones crunching underneath me, I saw Leonardo lifting into the air.

“Don’t want to ruin Michel’s revenge now,” William said. He let him down and Leonardo looked defeated again.

“Having fun, aren’t you William?” Michel said walking in just then.

“No, not really.” Michel ignored William’s comment and turned to me.

“Too bad you have to die. You would make a great vampire.”

“WHAT?!” Leonardo, William and I said at the same time.

“Think about it! She resisted the hypnosis, she saw through my disguise! She’ll have talent, and no memory of David. She will join our clan and fight against him. The ultimate revenge! In fact…That’s what we will do!” Leonardo looked angry and William, well he just looked like he was barley keeping his self from tearing Michel’s head off.

I didn’t believe that they would go through with it. It’s so rash. So stupid. I would defiantly have memories of David when I’m changed. But David never really told me in great detail about changing a vampire. Only how to do it. What if they were right. What if I have no memories of David or anything left. What if I become one of them? No! I wouldn’t let them do that to me!

William picked me up when they all started to run and fell behind a little bit.

“Don’t worry. You will not be made into a vampire,” William reassured me.

“Why are you being so nice?” William opened his mouth to speak, but closed it when Michel shouted.

“Hurry up, William!”

“Later,” was all he said to me.

They ran for a while before stopping in a clearing. William gently laid me down.

I curled into a ball on the ground and waited for them to do something. Whether they were going to bite me or kill me I didn‘t know. I just wanted them to get it over with. They hesitated for a few minutes.

“Should we?”

“We should wait a few days. Make David fret a little. We should send them our plan. Change the scenery, though. Let him know what his girlfriend is going to have to go through.” Michel concentrated on something very hard and then had a light in his eyes.

I was instantly relieved. They were going to wait a few days. That meant a few more days for David to find me. A few more days to get myself out of this situation. My stomach grumbled very loudly then, making me feel very weak in front of three immensely strong vampires.

“Leonardo, go get her some food. William, watch her for a little while I feed. We can switch off when I come back.” With that, Michel and Leonardo took off into the forests. When William was sure that they were both out of ear shot, he sat down next to me.

“Michel can be a pain sometimes. He’s really fixated on this whole revenge thing. I’m not really sure why.” I looked towards William in surprise.

“Why don’t you want revenge?” I said confused.

He lowered his voice to a whisper. “I never told Michel or Leonardo this but…I was planning on deserting with David and Kevin. But they were ahead of me when Frederic attacked them. Michel and Leonardo joined Frederic and I would have been a fool to try to escape. Now I just go along with what they want.”

“Why are you telling me this?” William looked around cautiously again.

“I’m tired of Michel. He always makes such rash decisions. I bet you one thousand dollars that he would change his mind about turning you by the time he comes back. I don’t want to be a part of his clan anymore. Leonardo is just so stupid, too! I can’t stand it! So I’m going to help you and the Cullens. Just make sure that you never leak a word of any of this okay?”

“Okay. I promise.”

“Good.” He started to stand up.

“No problem. Michel had it coming.” With that he walked over to a rock and sat down on it. A few minutes later Michel came running back into the clearing and Leonardo followed a few seconds later. Michel’s eyes were red from feeding. It looked like Leonardo also had a snack when he was gone. He threw the food at me. I caught it and unwrapped the tin foil. It was a hamburger. I eagerly bit into it.

“William, you can go hunt now,” Michel said. William took off into the forest and I silently said goodbye to the only friend I had for miles. I wondered how he planned on scheming against Michel. My thoughts were cut short when Michel spoke.

“I’m staring to have second thoughts about turning you into a vampire. Maybe we should just kill you now…” I started to panic. What should I do? I had to prove to him that it would be a good decision to make me a vampire.

“And what? Spare David of all that pain? He finds me dead. So what? He’ll move

on in time. But if he finds me with you guys, finds that I deserted him, wouldn‘t that be so

much better?” It felt like ten thousand daggers pierced my heart as I said those words.

David would move on if I died. What if he didn‘t find me in time and I did forget him?

That would kill him. I couldn’t do that to him. But it’s a risk I’ll have to take if I want

some more time to escape. And William would help me. All I needed was time.

William came back then, his eyes bright red. But I could swear that I saw some speaks of gold in them. They were instantly gone. Maybe I was becoming delusional…

The rest of the day passed with out incident. All that happened was the Clan, well only Leonardo and Michel, discussed their plans. William was a few feet away from the group looking very thoughtful. He was probably thinking of his plan. I laid down and watched the clouds fly by. I, being a runner, started to feel restless. Michel noticed my jumpy behavior.

“What do you want?” he sneered at me.

“I’m just jumpy. I haven’t ran for a while and I need exercise.”

“Fine, Leonardo can take you for a run. He’ll keep a very close watch on you.” Leonardo noticeably didn’t want to.

“Leonardo doesn’t have to do it. You two need to talk about the plan. I’m being no help to you at all. I’ll take her,” William suggested.

“Okay. That will do.” William stood up and walked over to me. My legs were stiff from not moving and I had some trouble getting up. William offered me his hand and I took it. After helping me up he started to walk towards the edge of the forest and I followed. He started to jog and I had a hard time keeping up. As if sensing my difficulty, he slowed down to my pace which was very slow for him. When we were out of ear shot he started to talk to me.

“I think that I have a plan. I will send our plan to…what’s her name again?…anyway, I’ll send her our plan and send a message with it. I just hope that she will believe it.”

“What is our plan?”

William lowered his voice really low. “I’m going to have a few Cullens and David meet me in a clearing a few miles away. We will discuss the plan from there.”
