The next thing I knew, I was in a dark room with no light or comforts. My neck felt exposed and I reached up. My hair had been cropped! How could they do this to me? How could my parents do this to me? They did it. They sent me to an asylum. I had always known that they hated me, but I had never thought that they would do something like this to me. A stream of hot unmanageable tears started to fall down my face. I didn’t wipe them away. What would be the use? More tears would just take their place.
I wasn’t sure how long I had been in this uncomfortable position, but, I realized suddenly my legs feel dead. I couldn’t feel them in the least. I wasn’t even sure that I would be able to move them when I was ready to. Hesitantly, I pushed out one leg. I groaned in pain but continued. Finally, I had one stretched out along to the wall; tears were still falling down my face. I leaned my back against the uncomfortable wall and forced my other leg forward. I couldn’t take it. I screamed loudly in agony. My scream echoed back to me, reminding me of my pain.
Suddenly, the door to my cell was opened and a bright amount of sunlight came into my prison. It burned my eyes. I had been in the dark for so long that I wasn’t used to so much light. I quickly tucked my tear stained face into my elbow and winced away from the door.
A quiet, musical voice came sweetly from the door. “Hello Mary Alice,” the beautiful creature that I had only seen once before smiled at me. He was one of the attendants that had brought me to this awful place. He was also probably there when they cut off all my ebony hair. My gorgeous ebony hair that I loved. It was the only thing that I liked about my mother- her hair that I had inherited. “My name is Daniel Webstergh and I am going to take good care of you.” He was one of my enemies. I foolishly turned my head to him and hissed like an impossible brat. Don’t ask me why I did that, though, because I have no answer. Daniel looked amused and then stepped fully into the cell, smiling. “Would you like some dinner or would you rather imposter a cat?” he inquired with a grin. I couldn’t help it, I grinned back. “Because either is fine with me, I just want your input.”
I giggled for a moment then looked at Daniel again. “I would like my dinner…please.” Even as I said it, my stomach growled angrily. I was hungry. When was the last time that I had eaten?” He left my cell for a moment then came back with a tray that he set on my lap. His next movement surprised me immensely. Daniel sat down right next to me and started talking to me. He told me about his little sister and parents that he still lived with. I asked him if he was sweet on anyone and he surprised me by saying that he wasn’t.
After about an hour of talking he told me that he had to go. I fell asleep considering the fact that I was in love with my prison ward.
