I looked deeper into the woods that were flashing by in blurs. I couldn’t see anything distinct. I wonder why we were coming here, back to Forks; it’s only been sixteen years since mom and dad were here last, people are bound to remember them. I knew they wanted me to have a normal life, but there was nothing normal about my family. The truth was, I was the only one who wasn’t fully a vampire, but, I was strange in my own ways too.

Me. Elizabeth Cullen, also known as Liz, Lizzy, and Lizard. I was the only daughter of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, who were now ‘dead’ but living life in secret as vampires. I was born before Bella was changed, and my father had shipped me off to a human family for a couple of years so I wouldn’t be murdered by my mother’s newly acquired thirst for human blood, and he newly found superhuman strength. I lived with the nice human family until I was three. Edward had sent for me to return to him and my rightful family, and so, I was shipped off to Europe, more specifically, England. We lived there until I was ten, and then moved again, back to the states. We had lived in Alaska until now.

I had discovered some, well, strange, abilities while I was growing up. Nothing too out of the usual you know, the normal; superhuman strength, speed, hearing, oh yeah, and then there was the mind reading, the shape shifting, oh and the mind control; like I said; nothing too unusual.

The trees were whizzing past even faster now that we were the only people on the local highway at two in the morning, we were going about 175, 200 tops, I had never given the speed a second thought. Everyone in my family drove like a maniac, always have, always will. Everyone was bored, Emmet, my ‘big brother’ was singing “in the jungle” from the ever so popular movie, The Lion King, in his head and repeating it about four million times. Esme was thinking about how fast she could clean the old, and abandoned house up. Edward and Bella were making goo-goo eyes at each other. Carlisle was multitasking: memorizing the dictionary, and driving at the same time. Rosalie and Alice were arguing about which on of them knew which style of clothes I liked better, and obviously, Alice did. Jasper was, well, being Jasper; he had his nose stuck in a book and his arm around Alice. It got really annoying having to listen to what Emmet was thinking whenever he and Rosalie were alone, but other than that, my gift, wasn’t much of a problem. We were all going to be enrolled in Forks high school. Alice, Bella, Jasper, and Edward would be enrolled as juniors with me. Rosalie and Emmet would be enrolled as seniors.

Finally, I just got too bored so I leaned my head back and fell asleep.

I was being carried. I didn’t know where at first, up stairs, around a corner, and through a door. I opened my eyes to see a new room; my room. It was huge. The walls were all light blue, almost misty blue. There was a chair rail boarder of pastel purple, green, pink and yellow swirls and squiggles that circled around the room. There was a double bed, probably queen sized, near the south wall. Windows completely covered the west wall. They were frosted over slightly to give off a more private room, and some really tall blinds lined them. There was a walk-in closet, and my own bathroom. The floor was wood with a white shag rug in the middle of the room. Wall-tall shelves lined the east wall filled with all the books I could ever read and then some. I had an awesome surround sound system, and a bazillion CDs. I also had like seven or eight ipods filled with music too, oh, and three of the ipods were completely filled with audio books.

I was laid down on the big bed. The comforter was white, and the pillow cases were all pastel and multicolored to match the room. I was pleased. Nice job Edward, I really like it. I though. He replied with a crooked grin and tucked me in bed as if I were five. He gave me a small peck on the forehead before he left me to my new paradise.

I quickly hopped out of bed, and went exploring through all of the clothes and CDs in my room. Alice had definitely gone shopping and had obviously enjoyed herself. I picked out the cutest outfit I could find to wear tomorrow on our first day of school. I would be in for a big day; thought from all that passed us in the alls would reverberate through my head the whole day, and if I looked cute, maybe they all wouldn’t be suspicious ones. Next, I picked up one of the many books off the shelf and shoved it into a new book bag. I gathered all the text books I would need, set a couple of new books I wanted to read in there too, set the bag at the end of my bed, crawled in, and fell asleep.

School was very uneventful. It was a typical first day for me. People stared, thoughts revolved mainly around fantasy and jealousy, boy tried to ask me out, but with no avail. The teachers were all kind of in awe from the sight of me and my family, they were obviously jealous too. Classes seemed to drag, Math P.E., and English were the slowest before lunch. A girl named Samantha had invited me to sit with her, and one glance at Edward said I could. Samantha was plenty nice, she introduced everyone she could to me, and within five minutes, I knew everyone in the junior class. Everyone was excited to meet me, apparently, they’ve never met anyone who had ever lived in England, and profusely bugged me about what it was like in England all day. They asked if it was anything like Forks, obviously it was, if I missed it; duh, if I was enjoying my day; not really, if I missed any of my friends; once again, duh. One kid, Mark was his name I think, asked me to say something in a British accent. I did and he was in awe. It was nothing new. I could also speak Chinese, German, French, Spanish, Latin, Arabic, Japanese, and four other languages that weren’t even used today.

Biology was, in a word, different. The teacher watched me really closely. None of my family member had this class with me. The teacher, Mr. Newton was almost stunned as I walked in the room during the middle of his lecture. He stopped talking, and stared. He stood there staring at me for about three minutes until kids began to snicker. He was then brought back to reality, and resumed his lecture. I took one of the empty seats in the back of the room and listened. It was over cells and DNA, something I had already covered. I sat there for the next twenty minutes bored out of my head and invading people’s minds.

Man, that new Cullen girl is really cute.

I wonder if she’d go out with me. Not a chance.

Wow, did you see how Mr. Newton stared at her? Don’t remind me.

I wonder where she got that outfit. Alice got it for me from Paris. Fat chance you’ll ever get one.

I hope I’ll see Alex in gym. He’s so hot! OK. Eww, I didn’t even want to know.

I hope that new girl is in some of my other classes. You wish.

Hello Lizard, are you enjoying your first day? Edward was so casual.

No. I hate it here in biology. Mr. Newton is so boring. He just drones on and on, it’s like there’s no stopping him. I thought back.

The class passed by quickly. I hadn’t paid any attention to Mr. Newton’s lecture. After I had climbed into Edward’s Vanquish, I noticed Mr. Newton trudging towards his car.

Who is that? Thought Edward.

“Oh, that’s Mr. Newton, my biology teacher. He’s really nice, but he talks way too much.” I answered. I was surprised that Edward didn’t respond to my answer. I glanced at him from the back seat and saw him exchange worried glances with Bella.
