I have to admit it. I was really scared. The Cullens were here. In the same room as me, and judging by their thoughts, they wanted to talk. To me.
But there was another reason to worry. I knew absolutely none of the Volturi like the Cullens, and I suppose, seeing as they don't know what I do, they have a right to, so I wouldn't be surprised if a fight were to break out.
But, I knew I had to act happy. There were guests that needed to be greeted. So I put on a fake smile and started to converse the crowd that was trying to make its way towards me, staying as far from the Cullens' as I could. I had forgiven them, but I wasn't sure they'd be happy about seeing me.
"Bella!" came my brothers' call.
"Yes," I asked, walking towards them.
"Why have to made everyone immune to everyone's power?"
"I haven't. All of mine work on everyone. So does Jane's." And Edward is immune to one other. But I didn't say that, they'd want to know who it was, what their power was, and why I wasn't making Edward immune to it.
"Is that really any difference?"
"Do you not trust us?" Marcus asked.
"Of course I do! Just, trust me. See, I have reasons for what I've none, I just can't explain."
"Is it because of someone?" Was I supposed to notice all of my brother's eyes flickered to where the Cullens' were standing, alone.
"It is, but not because of them." Not exactly, but again I didn't voice my thoughts. There were things they just didn't need to know.
"Alright, then. You can go if you want. you'll need to greet the guests."
"Okay." I said, kissing their cheeks before leaving.
"Bella!" I tapped her on the shoulder, as I tried to get her attention.
"Yes?" she turned. Wow, her voice sounded so musical and she really was so beautiful, ten times more than even Rosalie!
"Thanks Alice," she said.
"H-how did you-"
She tapped her temple.
"You . . . can-"
"Read minds, yes."
"One of my powers."
"I have many."
"Look Bella, I know we haven't seen each other for 100 years-"
"No, I saw you last mon-" her hand flew to her mouth, as realisation hit me.
"It was you!"
"You were all so depressed! It made me sad to see you sad."
"AWWWW" I said, as I hugged her.
"Wait." And I voiced the question I'd always wanted to ask the person who visited the house. "What is 'not as it seems'?"
"I can't tell you."
"Do you forgive us?"
"What is there to forgive?" she laughed, a quiet, musical laugh.
"You know, Edward, Tara, together . . ."
"Oh, no, I'm not mad!"
"Do you want to speak with the rest of us?"
She nodded, happily.
"Good, because I would have taken you anyway."
"I wouldn't doubt that." she laughed.
"You know, you don't have to speak with Tara or Edward, we never do."
"Speak with Edward, but whatever any of you do, don't speak with Tara!"
"Why? I mean, we don't anyway, but why speak with Edward and not Tara?"
"Look, it isn't Edward's fault. There's a reason why none of you should speak with Tara, and its a good one, but I can't tell you now. Besides, you aren't the person who deserves to know first."
"Your talking really cryptically. Do you know that?" It was true, there was something strange about her expression, something, was that horror? It was deep in her eyes, but definately there.
"Bella? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine but just do as I say, and tell everyone to as well. Its really important."
