“Bella! Bella! Bella please wake up!” Charlie’s strong hand shook me as he frantically tried to wake me up. I tried to open my eyelids but they wouldn’t listen. They stayed as shut as if they were glued. He shook me again, wrenching me out of my sleepy state and my eyelids burst open.

“Erm? Where am I?” I asked, not able to comprehend the unfamiliar surroundings that I saw everywhere. There were white, boring wallpapered walls and plain off-white sheets. It was only then that I noticed the IV next to me and that annoying machine that tracks your heartbeat behind the IV. I hated IVs and this was no exception. Before Charlie could stop me or I could remember just why I was in the hospital, I grabbed the tube that plunged into my wrist and pulled. It hurt, but I wanted it off, so I tried again. There was still no luck and by now Charlie had noticed what I had been trying to accomplish. He pressed the call button, his finger bending backwards as he desperately pressed it more and more.

A nurse came running in the room. “What’s wrong?” She demanded as she screeched to a stop in her white nurse shoes.

Charlie pointed to the IV. “She was trying to pull the IV out, but I’m sure why.” He grimaced and chuckled. “Sorry I don’t know a thing about my own daughter, she just moved down here yesterday.” He managed though he must have been holding back tears, because as soon as he stopped a tear ran down the long line of his face. He quickly wiped it away. I turned away, because I felt guilty and turned my attention to the nurse who was now quickly reinserting my IV.

She was done in a few seconds and she walked out of the hospital room without another word. Apparently, she had more important business to attend to other than a teenaged girl and her father who was about to start crying like a baby.

“Char- Dad, honestly, dad. I’m fine. Go home and get some sleep, you have to work tomorrow. I promise that I am fine. Just go and get some sleep.” I cried out suddenly as I saw his eyelids droop. I looked over at the clock; it was 1 o’clock in the morning. I had been asleep for like seventeen hours. I thought, though my head was so jumbled that I couldn’t do the math.

He grunted and walked out of the room. He must have not wanted me to see him cry. I sighed as I tried to readjust my pillow but to no avail. It was still unbelievably uncomfortable. I turned on the television set and saw to my expecting eyes that nothing good was on. I turned to the N and saw that Degrassi was on, at least. That was good enough for in the hospital. It was one of the newest episodes where Manny becomes engaged. I really liked this one. I settled back into my uncomfortable bed and watched it.
