Never Let Go (The Fog)

Summary:

(Previously The Fog) My heart stopped, the world stopped, and then in a rush it flooded back. My mind buzzed with thoughts as I ran as fast as I could, knowing I was too late. I could smell it too now. My nostrils flared and my knees buckled underneath me, an all too human feeling. My breathing coming in frantic sobs, I finally made it. I threw myself at the heat, like a sacrifice on the altar. I roared against the flames against the voice in my head. But the velvet couldn’t be drowned out, “Bella, What if I can’t save you? What if I’m the super-hero and the bad guy?” I screeched in defiance at the flames. My body wouldn’t stand the inferno much longer, but I didn’t leave. Then I saw it, my proof, and I finally allowed the strong cool hands to pull me from the fire. After the wedding and Bella’s change Edward and Isabella are looking forward to their happily-ever-after, forever. But fate doesn’t like to be predictable. Full of never ending questions, intense suspense, and drama The Fog definitely questions the picture-perfectness of Breaking Dawn. "I love it!" "This is a fantastic story..." "intense" "well written..." “I’m waiting for an update on the edge of my chair!”

The Fog.

A fleeting blissful blindness;

Neither good nor bad, but sweet.

Erroneous ways unnoticed;

Deluded on too swift of feet.

In the fog you've been misguided, dear

Crippling clarity comes too late

But the demon's duty's done

Unheeding of your hate.

Chapter 1

My Everything

I gripped Charlie's arm as the Wedding March started to flow into the hallway. He looked down at me questioningly, and when I smiled up at him he started leading me out onto the petal covered runway. The room was decorated beautifully, intricately stunning. Alice had done well.

I looked through the crowd all smiling happily up at me, my mother discreetly dabbing at her tears. Nervously, I lifted my gaze to meet Edward's, surprised to feel all the jitters fly away. A smile lit up his face; the glow unmistakable. He looked perfect.

The wedding march drew to a close as Edward walked forward to meet us. Edward shook hands with Charlie, promising to take care of "his little girl;" Edward fairly radiated.

"Bella, love. Are you ready?" Edward whispered into my ear.

"Always." I smiled, entwining our hands together.

The two of us walked up the steps to stand inbetween Alice and Emmett. Staring into Edward's eyes I suddenly realized everyone was silent and looking at me expectantly. Emmet's chuckle sounded from behind Edward and I realized what had happened. Mortified and blushing brightly I whispered "I do." Then we exchanged rings and our first kiss as man and wife.

The wedding had been divine, better than I could ever have dreamed. The reception very boisterous, music from Edward's collection constantly playing. Resting from dancing with the tireless vampires I sipped my champagne quietly at my seat at the wedding party's table.

"I have a surprise for you, Bella." I jumped. Edward was bent over with his head tucked into the crook of my neck whispering in my ear.

"Edward! You scared me to death! Don't go sneaking up on people." I berated half-heartedly.

"Sorry, love." He chuckled. "Come dance with me again."

I smiled, following Edward onto the dance floor as a piano began to play. He led me into the middle before turning around to spin me into his arms.

"This is for you Bella. I love you." Edward's voice sounded over the stereo along with the piano and I realized this was a recording he had made as his voice started to sing to me.

"You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play it coy but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true.
'cause you can see it when I look at you.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do..."
