Never Let Go (The Fog)

Summary:

(Previously The Fog) My heart stopped, the world stopped, and then in a rush it flooded back. My mind buzzed with thoughts as I ran as fast as I could, knowing I was too late. I could smell it too now. My nostrils flared and my knees buckled underneath me, an all too human feeling. My breathing coming in frantic sobs, I finally made it. I threw myself at the heat, like a sacrifice on the altar. I roared against the flames against the voice in my head. But the velvet couldn’t be drowned out, “Bella, What if I can’t save you? What if I’m the super-hero and the bad guy?” I screeched in defiance at the flames. My body wouldn’t stand the inferno much longer, but I didn’t leave. Then I saw it, my proof, and I finally allowed the strong cool hands to pull me from the fire. After the wedding and Bella’s change Edward and Isabella are looking forward to their happily-ever-after, forever. But fate doesn’t like to be predictable. Full of never ending questions, intense suspense, and drama The Fog definitely questions the picture-perfectness of Breaking Dawn. "I love it!" "This is a fantastic story..." "intense" "well written..." “I’m waiting for an update on the edge of my chair!”

2. Because You Love Me

"Bella Cullen. Isabella Cullen." The words still sounded weird to my ears. Not that I hadn't been inticipating the change, but still. I was married to Edward, for 7 whole hours. These thoughts swirled around my head as I walked back to Edward after walking out the Cullen family, the last of the guests.

The wedding had been in one of the Cullen homes. Edward had insisted on this and after seeing the house I had heartily agreed -- much to Alice's dismay.

"Bella it just wont fit! With anything. Really, I mean it."

"Farleigh House is beautiful, Alice! It has so much charm, and old world grace. Alice just think of this as another one of my conditions."

Alice caved and eventually agreed the house was perfect...so Edward, so us. Now we were going to be living here for a few weeks to ourselves...

I grinned just remembering the look on Alice's face when she had her first view of how the wedding would turn out. She had been estatic running into Edward's bedroom with the biggest smile I have ever seen.

"Bella! Bella! Bella! I'm a genius. It will be so beautiful. Edward's house is going to be the height of elegance. I just can't wait! Jasper..." and with that she had bounced from the room, quick as she came.

And it had been...enchanting. Bella smiled as she walked into the largest room of the house, still decorated from the reception, and watched Edward put his CDs back into a portable CD case. Edward whiped around too quickly for my eyes to catch and smiled at me, his eyes a deep smoky black. Remembering the ah...circumstances, I blushed furiously, taking a step back. Taking a step closer from his spot across the room, he chuckled.

"Now you're scared of me, Bella? I have never been less inclined to kill you. I love you, wife. I don't want you to die." Smiling my favorite lopsided grin he continued. "My will is stronger than my bite."

For all that Edward claimed not to be able to hear my thoughts he was very perceptive. Many times knowing what was bothering me just by looking into my face. Although maybe the fact that he had heard Alice's thoughts about our lingerie shopping clued him in this time. Edward had overreacted to our shopping excursion saying that he 'didn't need any help' and that Alice was putting my life in danger. Alice had given as good as she got. Yelling at him that sometimes a girl needs a little confidence boost and maybe everything isnt about Edward all the time. Finally, she bombarded him with images of my smiles and happiness insisting that this was something I would want.

"I trust you, Edward. I'm not scared just...nervous."

"Bella, It's me." Edward whispered just loud enough for me to hear.

Somehow all of my apprehensions dissapated. Edward was right, of course. It was us. Edward and Bella. With all of my uneasiness aside I was excited. I ran at Edwrad and then when is was close enough I leaped into his arms. Naturally, easily, he caught me, pulling me in close. I wrapped my legs around Edwards waist and curled my fingers into his hair. Suddenly it bubbled over and I just started laughing. Not a deep belly laugh but still more than a chuckle. The kind you make when you're incandescently happy.

"Bella, Why are you laughing?" Edward asked, amused.

"Because I love you." I whispered, punctuating it with a light kiss on his neck. When I looked back up Edward was wearing the biggest smile I had ever seen. I could have counted every one of his brilliant teeth. "Why are you smiling like that?"

"Because you love me."

And with that he plunged one hand into my hair and the other went under my bum to act as a seat and pull me closer, kissing me sweetly. As always I threw myself in passionately causing our kiss to turn rougher. Edward's breath surrounded me making my mind a hazy mess but I still knew I needed to breathe. Pulling free I sucked in air then listened to Edward breathe as he placed little kisses down my neck and then gently scraped his teeth back up.

"Edward?" I whispered.

"Yes, love?" He breathed raising his head to look at me, his eyes smoldering. Oh Nevermind. I twined my arms around his neck, pulling his lips closer. When my hands started to wander I felt Edward's legs move under me and without opening my eyes I realized he was running. Probably, hopefully, to our bedroom. Yup. Edward unrapped my legs from around him to carry me bridle-style into our room, kicking the door shut behind him.

I awoke to a bright sun, already high in the sky, and realized that I had slept rather late.

"Goodmorning, wife." Edward's velvety voice sounded from behind me.

"You left," I accused, taking in his unrumpled clothes against pale skin ocher eyes and dashingly rummpled hair. He was wearing jeans and a black tee shirt that was deliciously form-fitting under a dark dress jacket.

"Only when you were deeply asleep."

"Are we going somewhere?" He was dressed quite nicely to be staying around Farleigh.

"Maybe," was his cryptic response.

"I'm hungry. Can I eat first?" Blushing at his raised eyebrow and smug expression. "For breakfast, or, well, brunch now."

Surprisingly Edward's face lit up at so simple a notion and I realized how truly happy he was. His smiles always so close to the surface and it was contagious; I smiled back.

"Great!" He said excitedly. "I've been watching cooking shows waiting for you to wake up. So i'm going to make you breakfast," He said walking into the other room and returning with my pink nightgown with black lace. "Lets go feed the human!"

Slipping on the nightgown I followed him out of the room torwards the kitchen. "Edward, can I take a shower while you make it? I smell badly when I don't take showers." I added as a bit of incentive.

"I need a taste tester, love. How will I know what to do when they say 'season to taste'? It all smells disgusting to me." Turning around to convince me, he smiledmy favorite smile and continued. "Please, Bells. It will be fun. Besides, I'll take a bath with you if you will wait until after breakfast and you always smell amazing. I should know," He said tapping his nose lightly.

"You win." I said entwining our fingers and walking off to the kitchen.
