Finally the thud of the plane's rubber tires hit the runway. So close to Bella. So close . . . I was only a few minutes away from Bella. Bella. I would make my way through the crowd, and she would run towards me. I would hold her and not let anything ever happen to her . . .

"Are you asleep?" Emmett whispered in my ear jokingly.

I opened my eyes as one of the flight attendants voice announced our arrival in sunny Phoenix. The plane had slowed down and was being guided into the terminal. "We have landed at Sky Harbor International Airport. Please do not take off your seat-belt until the captain has given permission to do so," I ignored her, unclipping my seat-belt, eager to see Bella, " We hope you enjoy your stay in Phoenix if visiting, and hope you enjoyed your trip if you're going home. It's eighty-three degrees and sunny. Have a good day." There was a short dial-tone as she hung up the phone, and then various beeps as they moved the plane into Terminal 4.

I tapped my fingers impatiently on my armrest.

I had the window seat and I slid the shade up a little, careful not to let the sunbeams shatter off my cold, hard skin. I peeked out and growled at how impossibly slow the plane was moving. Having been elated to find out we were destined to arrive ten minutes ahead of time, I now silently cursed every employee on the plane under my breath.

"Edward," Carlisle said, warning me under his breath.

We will get there. Be patient but please don't cause major damage to this plane.

So, he HAD seen me eyeing the side of the plane, wondering exactly how long it would take me to tear my way out. It would only take a split second, and Bella was right there . . .

"No." Carlisle said firmly at my longing expression.

I wondered what Alice was seeing me do. I searched out her mind among the many hurried, late people in the airport. She was looking into Bella's far future. Always looking after my Bella. I felt a rush of fondness for my sister. I focused in on what she was seeing and my lip curled up over my teeth.

Bella's eyes were red.

Poor Bella. She doesn't know how often Alice sees that, and how often she manages just escaping a fate of night and blood. I growled quietly, but when the woman in front of me looked alarmingly behind her, I pretended to cough.

What is it?

Carlisle and Emmett's same thoughts overlapped one another.

"Alice saw Bella; her eyes were red." Emmett scoffed but Carlisle stared understandingly at me.

I know how conflicted you are, Edward. I'm sorry.

But despite his efforts to hide it, another thought broke through.

He will have to change her eventually. It's too dangerous for her.

I curled my lip menacingly at him, but he stared me down. I sighed, and dropped my gaze, trying to be patient. Yeah, right.

So, I closed my eyes, and imagined her face. I thanked God I had a photographic memory; but it still wasn't the same. And I couldn't imagine her smell, like the beautiful aroma it really was.

There was a annoying ding and I opened my eyes as the seat-belt sign flashed off. I jumped up so suddenly that I made a small dent in the ceiling. Emmett laughed quietly while I noticed people staring in alarm.

"Ow!" I pretended to moan and they looked away.

Carlisle was frowning; Emmett still laughing quietly. I shrugged at both of them and gestured for them to hurry up. We were flying first class, so we would be one of the first to get off. Thank god.

Carlisle stood up slowly, as if demonstrating the proper way to stand up while being discreet. I fidgeted, something I don't normally do.

Carlisle went in front of me and Emmett let me pass with a smug smile. Great. They were going to hold me back if I went too fast.

This is the story of a girl

Who cried a river and drowned the whole world

And while she looks so sad in photographs

I absolutely love her

When she smiles.

That's funny, usually Alice sings songs in her head when she's trying to keep me out. I didn't know she really listened to songs in her head. I really liked the song Absolutely, or maybe I was just excited to see Bella. It made me euphoric.

Now she was singing Smashmouth in her head.

It ain't no joke

I'd like to buy the world a toke

And teach the world to sing in perfect harmony

And teach the world to snuff the fires and the liars

Hey I know it's just a song but it's spice for the recipe.

Now I was getting suspicious. As we made our way to the front of the plane, the female flight attendant thanked me much too generously. I ignored her, not even saying thank you, and focused on Jasper.

Blood, blood, blood, blood, blood, blood, blood, BLOOD.

Lord, Alice must be seeing him massacring the entire airport, what was she DOING?

I pushed against Carlisle.

He frowned at me.

"Something's wrong," I stated, terror filling my voice, "They're blocking their thoughts from me. SOMETHING'S WRONG." I said again.

Just then, we broke through the tunnel leading from the airplane to the terminal. Now Aqualung.

I never understood before

I never knew what love was for

My heart was broke, my head was sore

What a feeling

Tied up in ancient history I didnt believe in destiny

I look up you're standing next to me

What a feeling

What a feeling in my soul

Love burns brighter than sunshine

Brighter than sunshine

Let the rain fall, I don't care

I'm yours and suddenly you're mine

Suddenly you're mine

And it's brighter than sunshine

I never saw it happening I'd given up and given in

I just couldn't take the hurt again

What a feeling

Alice was singing in her head, on the board of hysteria as she saw my face. Jasper looked thirsty, and his nostrils flared with every human that passed.

Alice was singing so fast my head hurt.

I-didn't-have-the-strengt- to-fight-Suddenly-you-seemed-so-right- Me- and- you- What- a- feeling- What- a feeling- in- my- soul- Love- burns- brighter- than- sunshine- It's brighter- than- sunshine- Let- the -rain- fall,- I don't- care -I'm- yours- and- suddenly- you're- mine- SUDDENLY-YOU'RE-MINE!

"Alice," I murmured in a surprisingly calm voice. That scared her even more.

Then Alice's mind went blank. She was having a vision. I screamed.
